Congrats on the wedding! I think jasmine is easier but Ariel would be great with a red wig! End up holding the tail I'd think while you were running.

Thanks. I agree Jasmine would be much easier, but Ariel would be unique. The tail and bottom as a whole would be designed uniquely to allow full running without holding anything or holding me back. I'm working with my costume lady to come up with a design to do this.

Just a reminder to all, there is still a lot of time to improve and get your times down to not even worry about the sweepers. Also, it might be imperative to get a race in before the cutoff date as I'm sure the same rules from the marathon will apply that no corral changes after a certain date.

Did you discuss attaching it to your wrist? That way you're not necessarily holding it, and it could be long enough to not constrict your arm movement. I had a Halloween costume like that.

:cool1: I am in!!!! Started running last Aug and have run several 5k's. i am training to run a 10 in May I can't wait for the Princess to be my 1st half!!!!!:cloud9:

I am not going to lie I didn't attemp to read the last 33 pages of post lol but i did see this and had a thought (hope it wasn't already suggested) instead of doing mermaid Ariel, you could do human Ariel that way you would not have to wrry about the tail while running:)

There is no corral changes at the expo? Is that new? Not that I think I will be needing to do that for the phm, but I know that for another rundisney race a friend might...

Just had to share...

I ran a 10k yesterday. It was almost entirely females! There was only one man who ran. He was of course the first to finish. I was however 5 minutes and 15 seconds behind him and the first woman to cross the finish line! I finally did a 10k in under an hour... with a bit of time to spare even. 56:35

This is a good thing to know! I think it is a step in the right direction... however, did anyone see the runners world package for the dopey challenge? You get a "special" corral placement and a "special" walk to the corrals. If this does work the way I worry it will... I suspect that those who would not have proper proof of time will just pay their way into a "special" corral.

Thanks!

Meant to say CONGRATS on your killer 10K time! :cool1:

The rumors I hear say that RWC was never supposed to get people into A or B corrals as happened last year. But it was accidentally sold that way, so it was honored. This year the story I've heard is that everyone will walk to B corral together (special walk to the corrals) and then they are expected to go back to their own corrals to start. But. You know. It won't be enforced exactly.

Thanks so much. I think this 10k will go down as one of my best races ever. I suspect that I will never be the first female finisher ever again. (and the one time I am..they don't have an awards ceremony )

As for the RWC... I didn't even know it was offered before. It is quite spendy...so maybe that is why it didn't show up on my radar. If no one is forced to move out of B...well, I am sure those will be the ones that some of us who work to get into those corrals have to dodge around. Oh well....

Just had to share. I completed my first official half marathon yesterday. I met a wonderful woman who was using the Galloway method. I asked what her intervals were. When she said 1:2, I asked if I could try and stick with her and if I couldn't for her to go ahead. This was a my first time trying this on a consistent basis. I was able to keep it up for a few miles and then had to walk a few extra minutes. She was very kind and adjusted her intervals. She was just there to have fun! We finished together at 3:18:53. Our average pace was 15:10 with 1 potty break and 3 quick stops for landmark pictures I plan to start interval training next week. Can anyone tell me at this pace will I have time for a few pics with characters? Also has anyone heard if Disney changed the qualifying times for corral placement?

Congratulations to both of you!! Such great accomplishments.

I ran my 8-turned at least 8.8k on Sunday, and finished in the top 50 so I got a pretty medal. When they said only the top 50 in each category for the 8k would get a medal, I was determined!!

Had to share this as well, from the race book. I don't ever remember seeing a similar etiquette-guide for PHM, but I giggled.

OMG, that's hilarious! Was there a "please no peeing in the bushes" paragraph?

Congrats to you too! A half is such a huge commitment! I did the phm this year and do plan to do the 2014...but I am just almost scared to do any other half. :worship: that you are able to.

As for your pace and if you can stop for pics... well, this last year(and I am not sure if this is normal since it was my one and only point of reference) the lines were long... I had thought I could budget about 2 minutes per mile for each stop. There is no way that I could have done that and kept under the pace I wanted. Now, if you were just trying to finish and didn't care to stay under a certain pace for yourself... AND your corral afforded you a buffer between yourself and the sweepers... AND the lines were indeed not too long... you might be able to stop for pics and not get swept. I think those three things have to be in balance though for it to happen (if you continue to be at a 15 min/mile pace come next spring). However...I would highly suspect that with more training and commitment you will be even more below the pace requirement come next spring. :goodvibes

Congratulations to both of you!! Such great accomplishments.

Thank you so much. I still am shocked that it went as well as it did.

:cool1: Way to go to you as well!!! Isn't it funny what can motivate us? I was determined to not let the 20 something behind me catch up to me (since I passed her about half way through the race) She finished about 40 seconds behind me... and told me that I was her motivation. (so maybe without me she would have finished with a slower time) If I were you, and I knew it was close for me to come in within the first 50 or so... I too would have been booking it. Can you imagine being the 51st? :faint:

Congrats on your pretty medal! Any pictures you want to share? :goodvibes

the etiquette guide is too funny!!!
