Thanks, everyone, for your encouragement! It means more than you'll ever know. I only know one person in real life who's doing the PHM (my DS's teacher, of all people!), but she's already doing it with a friend and will be traveling down completely separate. So I'm doing this all by myself, and I'm looking forward to meeting all of the DIS'ers at the race! :thumbsup2

That's awesome! I am doing it solo for the first time as well. Couldn't find anyone who wanted to commit so far ahead... And rather than not doing it at all I decided to go solo. Definitely a little nervous about doing the parks alone, but excited too. Hearing inspiring stories like yours definitely makes me feel silly for being nervous. Best of luck in your training! Keep us posted :)

Proof of Time Update: Just wanted to report that runDisney accepted my updated proof of time - yay! I estimated 2:00 for the PHM using a 10K time of 0:53. Not sure what the official policy is, but wanted to let those concerned about submitting multiple times that they accepted mine. I registered with no proof of time, submitted proof in August and then submitted an updated proof this weekend. In an e-mail response, they said updates are permitted until December 1, and did not put a limit on the number of times a runner can update. Again, not sure of official policy - just my experience.

Just curious, did you restate your estimated time with the proof? I have been advising folks to do that since many folks were clueless at the time of entry.

For those doing Princess solo.....enjoy it! I realize it's personality-dependent, but I have done all of my Disney races except one solo. My DH is no Disney-phile and my kids are grown. I love being able to come and go as I please---and ride EE 5x in a row if I want 'cause I can go in the single rider line!

You'll have fun, will meet WISHers, and can hook up with them to socialize if you want.

Princesses! Wishes Dessert Party just unexpectedly opened up for Jan-March! If you are going to make a reservation, do it now!

Training plan question:

Is anyone following the time improvement plan, but modifying it for GSC?

I may start doing the time improvement plan, but the long runs seem crazy long. 19 miles before a half marathon? I figure I'll modify it and keep the really long runs shorter, but hopefully still get the benefits of the time improvement.

I'm not doing GSC though. Just the 5K and half.

So I'm about ready to do my 13th half and have to tell you I've never gone more then 10 miles before a half. I usually try and do a short (2 or 3 miles) a mid (4-6 miles) and a long run(7-10 miles depending on how close or faraway from race day I am) every week. Some weeks I can only get in 2 runs though. You should be just fine only going to 10 or 11. My sister in law actually only trains to 9 miles before a half. 19 to me is just WAY excessive. Just my two cents worth!

If I'm running 19, I BETTER be signed up for a FULL!!! :rotfl2:

I also only do 10-11 max for a half.

The reason I was looking at that plan is that I actually AM signed up to do a full about 2 months after PHM.:yay:

I'm actually not concerned with time. I'm just trying to figure out the best way to add back to back run days AND have increased mileage without getting injured.

I'm doing my 3rd half this weekend, and I've never run more than 10 miles in training either.

The plan that I followed for my first half and am following for my second one in November has 3 mile runs on Tuesday, varying distances from 3-6 on Thursdays (as the race gets closer, it increases and then decreases again to taper), 3-4 on Fridays, and long runs up to 12 on Sundays. I figure after this half when I continue on to GSC training, I'm going to move the Friday runs to Saturdays and work them up progressively from 3 to 6 and back down to taper. It makes sense in my head but who knows how it will actually work out, lol.

Hi Pixarmom! :wave

Congrats on getting your proof of time accepted! And it's such a fabulous time! You are crazy fast and definitely powered by Pixie Dust! My goal is to not get swept! I'm running a 15K here in Chicago in November that I'm going to submit for my time. I hope I can run a fast enough time as to not be placed in the last corral.

Are you staying at BC/YC for PHM?

Sent from my iPad using DISBoards

Hi Catho!!! :wave2: Thanks so much! We're staying at BWI this time. One of the reasons is that we're staying CL and love the CL lounge at BWI. Another is my love of the Boardwalk View (just a request, but it would be wonderful!) But I always try to stop by BC and say hello to Teena! I'm usually around the Marketplace at some point, too. Could you remind me where you're staying?

Are you running the Hot Chocolate? I was thinking of heading to Chicago for that - lots of friends and neighbors are running! If that's the one, it looks great - my only reservation is the cost of the overnight, etc. We're going to NYC with the kids this weekend and then my husband and I are going to Napa next month, so we should keep weekend trips to a minimum. But I'll be cheering for you and hoping that it goes really well! :cheer2:

Just curious, did you restate your estimated time with the proof? I have been advising folks to do that since many folks were clueless at the time of entry.

Yes, I did! Last month, I only submitted my DL 10K time, and they estimated my finish time way over what I would have predicted. This month, I submitted both my 10K time and a new estimated finish time. I used a few online calculators to get an estimated finish time, added a couple minutes and submitted that.

GREAT news - yay! :thumbsup2

Thank you for celebrating with me! :)

First, your race record is amazing! I love it! And based on your extensive experience, and previous advice from you and fellow princesses, I'm going with this plan. I usually run 3 miles every day, with a 6-mile run on the weekend, but I think a few 10-milers make sense.

If I'm running 19, I BETTER be signed up for a FULL!!! :rotfl2:

Too funny! Me too! I remember reading your previous advice regarding the 10-11 max too - thank you!!

We are staying our first two nights at YC then we are moving over to the Contemporary for our last three nights. My friends wanted to stay there whereas I would be perfectly content staying at YC/BC the entire time. I've never stayed at CR (only at BLT) so I'm kind of excited. It's a girls weekend...no boys or kids. :-)

Yes, I'm doing the Hot Chocolate. Hopefully I'll be ready for a 15K by then! The jacket looks really cute! If you can swing another weekend trip, you should do it!

Gotta run back to work. My 15 minute break at TDS goes by do quickly!

Agreed! I'm about to do my 4th half and I've never gone over about 10.5. I'm tossing around the idea of doing 11 this weekend for my last long run before that race, but I agree...for 19 miles I might as well do a full! I do wonder why Galloway recommends that though, is it to make up for less mileage during the week?

Don't worry about the back to backs. It's really not necessary. I would look to hop on the marathon training plan you want to choose as soon as this half is over and then fit the PHM weekend runs into the marathon training plan.

If you want to get a feel for running on dead legs, I suggest moving 2-3 of your mid-week runs to the day after the long run. You will gain an appreciation for running on stumps and how quickly that feeling will disappear.

Race weekend, simply run all three runs at a training pace.

Funny, I never run more than 16 for a full. Or Goofy for that matter and I am thinking Dopey as well.

For a half, I may run a 7 or 8 miler as a long run.

I do back the shorter long runs up with a lot of cycling to assure that the cardio system is peaking at the correct time.

What are WISHers and where would I find them? I definitely go back and forth between the mindset you're describing and then, on the flip side, being kind of bummed to eat or walk around Epcot alone. So it might be nice to have some folks to meet up with. I'm also doing Tink, and I'm extra nervous about that, since it's laid out differently and I've never been.

We're all WISHers.....it's just those of us on the board. There will be some kind of meet-up planned the day or so before the race. I haven't done Princess, so I'm not sure if the meet has been on Saturday afternoon. Details will emerge closer to the event.

I'm most familiar with Marathon weekend when there has typically been a Friday afternoon meet-up at Pop, a Boardwalk Bakery meet-up on Monday, and Drinking around the World at Epcot.

This year (and I think in other years) the meet has been at DD on Saturday morning. Think we need to change that due to 10k. Perhaps Friday afternoon would be good. Although I am sure some will be arriving late that day.

Wow, that's really awesome :) I'd love that! I'm still pretty new to the boards, pardon my silly question lol ;)
