Whew! I just finished my 8 miles! :cool1: My time was 114 minutes for the 8 miles..
WHY do TM's have to shut down after 100?? Thanks to you guys at least i was prepared, but none the less, it's a pain in the butt to restart when you are in your groooove.. :rotfl2:

I'll tell ya, The main reason i got thru this 8mi. tonight was YOU GUYS!! I was all set to skip church tomorrow and do it in the a.m. - as i was bad this afternoon, and caved - stopping at Taco Bell for 2 hard tacos and a Cherry Pepsi! ( I RARELY drink soda!!) I just had a total craving, not having had TB in years! LOL So, i thought my run was compromised for tonight - but i got home, pulled myself together and got on the TM.. after reading all you who did it today!! So, THANK YOU guys! :cheer2: And congrats to EVERYONE who did a w/o today!! princess:

BTW -- has Shelley (DISNEYDUET) been on here the past couple of days?? I don't think i have seen her.. Shelley, where or where are you? I miss ya!! :goodvibes
And Lauren, same goes for you girl!! How are you doing?! :grouphug: How's that Savanna weather treating ya?? It was COLD here today!!! I keep my homepage weather to Orlando all the time, just to feel warm.. :beach:

I'm here. :wave2: :flower3: Been busy working 10-12 hr days. Had to go in today for a few hours and then came home and spread mulch. DH and I and going to do 9-10 miles tomorrow. Weather should be nice-50s. Today it didn't even crack 40! :crazy2:

Sunday is my long mileage day. So, TM tomorrow for me. Then...a Super Bowl party!! I am hoping I get to 9 miles in my 2 hours.

I'm doing the 5k and i always say it just a 5k and people look at me like you actually run. I'm a rather large girl but getting smaller every day. This is my 4th 5k in a year and 3rd Disney race. Ive done the inaugural tot, inaugural EEC and now this race. I love the way it makes me feel after I've completed them. I wanted to do the 1/2 but i know I'm not physically ready for it so I'm volunteering instead. For those who are doing there 1st 5K or 1st half once you do your first race you will be hooked. I love 5k's but dream of doing a longer race someday.

Amanda

sorry for the ramble: i jmeant to say as long as you are racing and not sitting on the side lines you should be proud of whatever length you do.

Did you sign up awhile ago to volunteer? I was contemplating volunteering for the half, but you can no longer sign up online or print out the form. So I am imagining it is closed for volunteers. I sent them an email but have not heard anything.

:cheer2: It's February ladies!! We are in the home stretch! We are all going to look so good sporting those medals! Good luck to everyone do long runs today. I will be doing my 7 on the TM because it is cold and icy out here.

You must live near me!!!

Morning all! Heading out to do 8-10. Temp is a balmy 45! :cool1: Lots of sun a just a slight breeze. Perfect for long miles. Hope everyone has a great day training or relaxing. :goodvibes

YEAH FEBRUARY!!!!!!!

Good morning princess:

I ran my 8 miles at the indoor track yesterday. The track is approx. 11 laps per mile so it is very boring to run there. I can't wait to get back outside and run. 17 degrees is too cold for me. I wish it was in "only" in the 40's here....

For those using MfM, what are the scheduled long-runs between now and the 1/2? I created my own plan (as I needed a 9 week plan) and am doing 6-10-12-6 the next four weeks. Just curious how that compares to MfM.

Also, how long and many times a week do you run during the week? Right now, I have been running 2x during the week (4-5 miles) on the TM and began weight training 2x a week again.

5 weeks from now, we will be wearing our medals! I'm so glad Disney sent a pic, it actually feels real now.

Happy running :cheer2:

Hey everyone! I got my miles in yesterday! It was both easier and harder than I thought. If that makes sense. When it was over my feet, left knee and rear end were sore. Not pain but very sore. I did some stretching. I still feel fatigued today too. However, I remind myself that we've now trained over halfway! We're just about there really. It's only five little tiny miles to the end! Who can't walk five little miles, right! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: GO TEAM US!

For MTM the rest of our training for long days is 6, 10, 8, 5 time to go! We do two other days during the week of walking/running at around 60 minutes. HTH

I know I've not been around much. Somehow I've gotten addicted to Fashion Wars on Facebook. I learn about so many bad things on the Dis. :rotfl2: Like I don't ready have enough to do.

MFM - 6, 10, 8, 5 are the long runs

Run twice a week between 40-50 minutes and cross train 30-40 minutes
Except last week which is 30 minutes for both and cross train only one last week

Ladies princess: .....Just an update........

5 weeks from this point in time we will all be walking around the parks showing off our BLING!!!!!

Now is the time to start thinking about your choices for races.

FYI: DO NOT wear anything new on race days, especially those new to doing races!!
As you do your few more long miles, start wearing the shoes/socks combo that you will wear on race day. Know which sports bra that works best and doesn't chaff too much, etc. If you are going to carry things with you like water, gels, tissues, lip balm and a camera you should "practice". Typically if you are fine with things for about 9 miles, 13 will be ok. Wear whatever head wear - visor, hat, ears, tiara, etc at least once to know how it will feel while you walk, jog, run. Try out your Glide or Runner's Lube on your feet. Try to do a long run/walk early in the AM (like race day) because you can get use to the time of day and if you feel comfortable eating some before the race or after that early in the morning. Just some things to think about.

DId my 8 miles this morning and not too bad after doing a Half Marathon last week!!

Tracy,
That is some great advice. I am debating wheather or not i am going to get a new pair of sneakers this week - same as i have now, just replacing them - but i know if i am going to do it, i need to do it ASAP to break them in.. I am not sure if i need to replace my sneaks or just the gel inserts that i use. (Got them at Olympia Sports for about $20) I am going to wear my sneakers out today, and compare the tread of mine against the ones (if i can find them) at the stores..
I have my capri's i am wearing - i have been doing all my long walks/run in them, and they are fine. I am also planning on using my WISH green shirt (i cut the arms off to make sort of a tank) and that has been ok, may just throw on some body glide under my arms just in case.

My biggest concern is drinking on the 1/2. I am a sipper, and love to have my sports drink on hand with me. I drank 700mL yesterday on my 8 mi. I need to start training with the drink on me somehow, either holding it or something.. I may end up getting one of these - www.spibelt.com for my gels, cell phone, etc..

I guess as it gets closer, i should train early a.m. instead of later evenings like i have been, that would make sense.. That way i know how breakfast agrees with me.

Seems like so much "lil" stuff to think about.. LOL

dsnyfan21 thanks for the tips!

IMGONNABE40! how far from Lebanon are you?

Millenium Mickey I will be doing 8,6,9, then 10. I do 2-3 days a week 40-50 minutes each.

I woke up to my monthly visitor this morning so my w/o wasn't the best. I did 7 miles in 108:26 minutes. I really wanted to keep in the 14 minute mile range but it just wasn't working. I did eat a cliff bar this morning about an hour before I walked and it seemed to help to have eaten it. I did snack on Sports Beans...quite tasty.

I looked for a green shirt that I liked but was unable to find one and I attempted to iron on a piece of Dri-Fit for my ears but it started to peel. So I will be wearing hot pink the day of the race. Hope I can still hang with the Green Girls?

Absolutely! You do not need a WISH shirt or even a lime green shirt to be a WISHer! In fact, some of our long-time members have never worn one!! Just be sure to introduce yourself!

I plan on being on the first bus leaving ASMo race morning. I'll go through the gear-check area directly to the holding area where participants wait until it is time to head to the corrals - I'll be to the far left right near the barricade that holds runner/walkers until we head to the corrals. I do this so that I can be as near to the front of whatever corral I am assigned to - that extra bit of cushion makes me feel better. So - if you are there early be sure to look around for other WISHers.

Hey Pat - you know I'll be lookin for ya!! Corral Buddies!!

OK. I tried to do an iron-on on a tech shirt 100% Polyester.
I used the Avery 3302 Stretchable Fabric Transfers for Ink Jet printers.

Printed out 3 different designs each one about 3-4 inches long.
Used an old White Tech shirt that I knew I would not be useing again. It had been washed. As per the instructions...
*No water in the iron, steam off.
*I used a wood cutting board with a pillow case over it as it states to NOT use an ironing board, glass, granite, concrete, heat sensitive or heat-retaining surfaces.
*I ironed the pillowcase.
*Put iron on the setting right before the Cotton setting. On my iron this is the wool/silk setting and let it hear up.
*Trim the design as beast as possible and as rounded as possible.
*Laid shirt on top of pillowcase and ironed it to remove any wrinkles.
*Placed transfer with printed side down. Beginning from the edge place iron on transfer and use small circles slow going over the entire transfer. I used small pieces, so only ironed each one about 60 secs.
*Remove Garmet from the heating area to allow it to cool faster. Should be cool to the touch.
*Carefully peeled the backing sheet away.
*Stretch the garmet in both directions to allow for a softer feel.

Turned out pretty good. Next I will try to wash it and see what happens.

It kinda looks a bit faded, not completely solid with the colors.
Tracy

Very nice Tracy! I have decided that I'm not buying anything new to wear for the Princess. I bought a pink tank and black pair of running shorts with a pink stripe which I have been wearing to cut down on the chafing of my thighs. I also bought a black skort with pink stripe. I'm going to try the pink skort next week during my long run. I'm hoping that I'll be able to wear that for the run. If not, it is back to the running shorts for the race.

I do have a WISH visor. I have been wearing that during my runs. It isn't working out well. I get way too hot so end up carrying it on my fanny pack about 1/2 way through. However, I want it with me in case the sun is bothering me so I'll continue to train with it.

I have been wearing a fanny pack with my fruit snacks. That was working out fine. I tried to carry my camera in it for my run yesterday and that didn't work. Way too much bouncing. I think the only thing that I'll be changing is I'm going to purchase a spibelt. I think I'll buy the double one. That way I can carry my camera and swedish fish/gum.

When are you supposed to replace your running shoes? I can't remember the mileage/hours. I'm trying to decide if I should purchase another pair of running shoes and alternate between them between now & the race and then use the most comfortable pair for the race. Any ideas?

UP Disney- I thought it was every 300 miles. I replace sooner, as I have tempermental legs ( shin splints)

Hal Higdon's plan has me down for 7 so that's what I did! Ran out 3.5 and then once you're out there you have no choice but to walk back!http://www.halhigdon.com/halfmarathon/novice.htm
It's not my first half, but it is conservative and I like that. Still can't decide what I'm wearing. Got a great deal on a running skirt (in pink) but when I ran in it on a shorter run, I spent way to much time pulling it out of my nether regions! Even when sweaty, it wouldn't stay in place (grrrrr)
Hope everyone is feeling great! Not too long now and we'll be there!
