Our records indicate that you have pre-purchased tickets to Mickey's Pirate & Princess Party scheduled for March 8, 2009 as part of Disney's Princess Half Marathon Weekend. This email is to make you aware that Mickey's Pirate & Princess Party will no longer be taking place on that date. We will now be hosting an exclusive Princess Half Marathon Happily Ever After Party the evening of March 8 at Disney's Hollywood Studios™. The party will be open only to Princess Half Marathon Weekend participants and their family and friends. Tickets for the Happily Ever After Party are the same price as the Mickey's Pirate & Princess Party tickets that you purchased. Your previous party ticket purchase will automatically be transferred to the Happily Ever After Party and will be available for pick-up at Disney's Fit For a Princess Expo on March 6-7. I just got that email too! Although, i am very bummed, b/c they really didn't give us ANY NEW NEWS on the party! Everything they stated, we knew already! I wanted more INFO.. rides open, time, activities, etc..

I just talked to someone at Disney regarding the party and there will be no parade but they are trying to make it as special as they can. I think we are going to get a refund on this event. We are passholders so it doesnt pay me to send the extra money if it is just extra hours.

And UPDISNEY I am calling SSR today to see if they can set up a cab. I was thinking of leaving at 4:30 am. Does that work for you? Plus I need to find out how my family can get along the course and then to Epcot t see the finish.

I also am not interested if they don't have anything but extra hours. We are also annual passholders. This will be the next to last day of a 10 day vacation at Disney.

Is that normally when people leave? I also want to get there early so I guess that works for me. I also need to find out how my DH is going to get to the finish. I'm not expecting him to be along the course.

My question is why would anyone think that a Pirate & Princess Party at MK with parade and all the extras compare to a Happily Ever After Party at DHS with NO parade and we don't know if there are extras and all for the SAME price? Doesn't make sense to me. I wouldn't mind so much if they were cutting back on the cost to us as well as the other changes.

I called WDW on Monday and was told that there was going to be a parade. The lady told me there would be a special parade and fireworks show just for the Marathon runners and their friends and family.

Now, I am not so naive to think that just because one person tells me this that means it's true. I know Disney isn't always up on their own current information. But that is what I was told, true or not. I also don't think it would be a "special" parade. I just expected them to rerun the afternoon parade. LOL

My friends and I are waiting to hear more info on the party before we decide if we want a refund or not. I am so bummed because we are only coming in for the race. We were not going to have time to go to a park other than the party. I am SO SO SO sad that we aren't going to the Magic Kingdom now! Also, I am very glad we hadn't purchased our pirate costumes yet.

I talked to someone at SSR and DVC and the buses will start running an hour before the parks open. So I told DH that they would need to be on the bus at 8:00 to make sure that they get there in time. The lady said it would take longer to get around because of the roads being blocked off. So I figure if it takes them and hour to get to Epcot (worst case) They should still beat me to the finish.

I'm not trying to be "Debbie Downer" but the parties that have been held after other races we've entered didn't have parades or fireworks, just DJ's and open attractions. Granted those post race parties were for the ToT and EE. I would be surprised if there was a parade or fireworks. Not sure what parade they could do at DHS studios at night. Are they going to put twinkle lights on the HSM dancers? I just want to know what time the party will be and what attractions will be open so that I know if it will worth the $$$$.

This lack of info is killing me. My planner gene is in overdrive since we are 7 weeks out!

I hear ya.. If there are no fireworks or parade, then what the heck are we paying extra for? Essentially, EMH's??! I would hope not!! If i am flying 1000+ miles to participate in a 13 mile (INNAUGRIAL) race, spending over 150+ for race and ticket, then darn it -- I WANT FIREWORKS AND PARADE!!!!! lol

Well, they said that we have til 2/20 to request refunds.. but hopefully they don't wait til 2/21 to give us more details!!

Trying to stay positive though, i wouldn't think Disney ever throws a BAD party - per say, but i think when we were told for months one thing -and then it was totally switched, it's a bit of a bummer.

Disney --- if you're listening --- it's a PRINCESS 1/2!!! The party should be in the MK with the CASTLE!!!
