I do hope that they are changing their mind about the course that originally was posted for the Princess 1/2 since besides starting at the Speedway (which I really really like that part of it) the rest of the course would be basically the same as the end of the full. Or the Minnie 15k and the backstage section of AK I did in the EEC 5k . One would figure with it being a "Princess" marathon it would go through MK. So that is my hope as to why they recalled the course maps. Just also hoping the map will be out soon. Whatever I am signed up now - can't back out now - I really want the medal/tiera whatever at the end to care what the course is like!! If its at Disney it can't be too bad!!

Tricia, I emailed Disney last week about the course. I asked if it was going to be the same as the half course in Jan. This was the response that I got...

The 2 courses will be similar.
Both will start and finish at Epcot and run through the Magic Kingdom.

I don't know how it can be much different from the one next weekend:confused3

Thanks Momoftwogirls. Well I guess they could have us run through the speedway still and then it would be a bit different then the WDW 1/2. I am doing the full so I guess after that there won't be much of WDW left that I haven't run in - I guess I haven't run over in the DTD area but other than that. I know those doing the 1/2 this weekend won't want it to be the same course but for me I will be thrilled to be going through MK so the "run through MK" is a good thing for me. Guess we will just have to wait and hope and see if they have the course mapped out at the Expo next weekend.

I signed my mom and I up for the princess retreat tent and the info says that it is in Epcot, so I would assume that the tent is within walking distance to the start line.

The Go Red for Women 5K is NOT a Disney race. It is run on property(like Race for Cure and NFTT) and thus they do different things.

Disney runs the WDW 5K & DL 5K which both aren't chip timed or don't have results(I did both last year).

.

Ok, that makes more sense then.. thanks. :)

hey all- good to see everyone back from the holidays.

I did another 4 miles of running this weekend and got my Mom to register for the 5k with me!
So count me in for the 5k and the 1/2 now!

We do need an offical list of who is staying where, running what, etc, as i saw someone mention a little bit ago.

Also yes we talked about a Dinner at Port Orleans the night before, but no time has been set

Jyl, if you look at the first post, i tried to organize it by who is running what and staying where - if i am missing anyone, please lmk via a pm... instead of posting, incase i miss a post.. i will update the list tonight when i get home from work. :)

When do you think that half will fill up? Not sure if we are ready to do the half, but would like to have the option if we feel ready to do it.

Hi all! Just checking in. I've been doing the couch to 5K plan and it's going great. In fact, I skipped week 2 and went straight to week 3 because I was already doing a little running before I started so I wasn't exactly in "couch" position. More like, one-foot-on-the-treadmill position. :)

Anyway, my upper back has started hurting. I think it's because I can't slump my shoulders while I run so I'm using muscles I don't often use. Anyone else experience this? If my posture improved because of this, I'd be super happy!

Hope everyone is running well!

I hope that everyone is doing well on their running! I am still on track with the Marathoning for Mortals. We can do this!!! That's for me as much as everyone else :-)

Wow! It does seem to be getting close now!! I have strayed from the MFM schedule, but hope to still be able to finish in 3 hours. I did 9 miles during my 2 hour walk the other day. If I can maintain that for 3 hours I am sure I will be fine. It was unseasonably warm here in Cincinnati for my walk on Sunday--but I did walk in the rain. I figured that was good training in case it rains in Orlando on March 8.

Queen Mimi--are you here in Cinci, or visiting from SC? I do my long walks at Spring Grove Cemetery every Sunday.

I spoke to Adrie with Disney Sports this past week, and the P&P party is definitely NOT going to happen. They are working on planning a comparable substitute and once it is announced if you don't like the plans and already had purchased a P&P ticket you can get a refund.

I am considering doing the race retreat. Has anyone done this before, and is it worth it?

That was real nice of them to not let anyone know about cancelling the P&P party - when I did my registration just the other day it was still an option to purchase the party tickets. I personally didn't order the tickets because we will be already back home and also I think it was kinda a rip off since the TOT 13k and EEC had parties afterwards that was free for the runners. I couldn't see paying for the party (especially that much)

Hi all! I updated the list from anyone who pm'd me.. please check it to see that your info is correct. And, if your name is not on there, please pm me with your name and hotel info and i can add you! :)

As for a dinner get-together, Can i get a few suggestions, and then we can do a vote on it? This would be for the Sat. night - correct? Having never done a distance this long, i have no idea what i should be eating the night before.. i just dont want it to come back to haunt me the next day.. LOL ;)

Also, who is planning on going to the Expo on Friday to pick up their packets? I am thinking we will be heading over as soon as it opens on Friday,, and get it done..

i wont be getting my packet til friday night. im flying in to orlando friday afternoon...
im up for Saturday night ideas... i plan on getting to bed pretty early!

Me too, i am hoping to be back at the Poly and getting ready for bed by 8pm.

FYI, the 5K is now 50% full. The kids races are 60% full.

My Disney said they would do something like at DHS?
