Tracy: I won't be here to wish you luck next week. I'll be on my way back from Orlando, depressed and sad in the car! :rotfl: So I wanted to wish you tons of luck and a great race next weekend! May the Mouse be With You!

It helped me to print-out the MfM 14 week plan for walking a half, and I crossed each session off when I completed it - that extra layer of accountability really helped. !

I do the same thing! I keep it posted right near my TM. :)

Good morning!

I was back on track with my training--100 minute workout on my TM on New Year's Day. Then, last night, I was making dinner and gearing up for the TM when my husband offered me a beer--or 2! Now, I know that beer and TM don't mix! So, no workout for me last night.

I looked at the plan in the MFM and also that Get off the Couch book. I am using them as a guide. I TM for 100 minutes 3-4 times/wk, and do a long training walk on Sundays. I go out for 2 hours and do 8-9 miles in that time. On Feb 15 I plan to go out for 3 hours, then begin my "taper" I have not been so good with the cross training...

I still haven't decided if I'm going to do this race or not. I'm doing the half next week and was hoping for a different course for the Princess Half. I emailed disney to find out about the Princess course and this is the response that I got back today...

The 2 courses will be similar.
Both will start and finish at Epcot and run through the Magic Kingdom.

I think I'll wait until after Marathon weekend to decide if I'm going. When do you think it will reach capacity?

I personally don't see it filling 100% up.. i mean, if it's just over 8 weeks away, i can't see people signing up now, if they haven't done one before, as it's not much time to train...
I am sure they will get a lift in signups perhaps after the Jan. marathon in WDW... but perhaps not, if it's a similar course..

Hi all...

Been gone a loooong time. I'm back to training and losing weight. It is a late start for the 1/2, but even if I get swept, as long as I make mile 8, it is a start for me. My mile time is currently 17:20, so I'm hoping I can bring it down a bit between working out and losing weight. :)

Anyhooo.... I'll be doing a complete solo trip, arriving on the 4th and leaving on the 11th. I was wondering if we had a list of those who are running the race, walking and doing both??

Also, when are the rest of y'all arriving? Is there a dinner organized for the night before yet?

Okay..enough questions for now.

Okay, I'll bet there's someone out there who's done this.......Anybody put together a playlist of Disney (or other, I guess) songs that sort of "go with" the Princess Half Marathon route? i.e. songs that represent which park/area you would be in at that time of the race?? I think it would be GREAT for those training runs!! Imagining running thru each park would really make time fly! TIA!!

I did my 3 miles today in 48 minutes 12 seconds. I'm hoping I can keep improving so that I don't get swept. So far my body is holding up which was one of my main concerns going into this. My only goal is to complete the race without getting swept.

OMG!! I was just putting together my Half Marathon training schedule in my calendar and realized that I have 6 weeks between my ING Miami Half and the Princess Half. (ING Miami Half is 2 weeks after the WDW Half) I guess I don't get much of a break training wise, but I guess that is a good thing. It will keep me moving non the less.

Does anyone know if the Princess 5K is closed? I can't seem to be able to register my husband for it online. I'm thinking maybe it is closed but I can't see anywhere that it says it is closed. I was so surprised when he said he would do it with me and I'll be bummed if I missed it. He told me a couple of weeks ago and I thought I signed him up but can't find it now.

Up Disney, I don't think it was closed because I was just able to register for the 5k through Active.com. I was even able to buy the Mickey Ears! I started at the Disney website and it linked me to Active.com. Good Luck! Let me know if I can provide any additional help.

BTW: Do you know if the 5k will be using the ChampionChip? I was interested in purchasing it, if they are.

I had a friend help me find it. For some reason, I couldn't find the link. Everything kept coming up with just the half. With her help, he is all registered now. :woohoo: I'm really excited that he is going to do this with me. He is so not into doing things like this.

I do a 5K every summer that my father was responsible for helping make a successful run. He has never done this with me. Everyone else in my family participates. My daughter and niece walked it when they were 2 (almost 3). We told them we would not carry them. Of course, they spent a lot of time picking flowers, sitting on rocks, etc. but they completed the race and both ended up with youngest racer plaques.

Hi!! I am arriving on the 6th and leaving on the 13th, staying at ASMo. I'm sure there will be some sort of meet, but I don't think anything definite has been decided, has there? I'm waiting til after the Jan half to think about the Princess one!

Glad to hear it worked. :cool1:

I love the idea of youngest racer plaques! While there are some races in Northern California that have kids runs, many don't. When my father and I participate in races, my 4 year old often wants to run and does a great job keeping up. Well the truth is, I am always lagging behind him! I guess the running and competitive gene skipped a generation. :) My son LOVES it when people cheer him on along the race and at the finish line. My dad always orders a small shirt for my son so he will have a souvenir or reward for all his hard work. But, boy would my son beam from ear to ear if he had a plaque!

My daughter and I just registered for the princess half marathon. She is running her first ever marathon this week-end at WDW. We are going to cheer her on. Her life is crazy. She is finishing her last 5 months of family practice residency and has five year old twins! One was hospitalized for most of the past week, so her training has gotten completely derailed. (So has mine because they are here visiting for the holidays!). Before the holidays, I had completed 8 miles, averaging 15 and a half minutes per mile. But, that was in hilly Cincinnati with a cold wind blowing against me. I have two months to get that down to below 15 minutes. I have nightmares about the sweepers coming to get me!! We are off to warmer and flatter South Carolina. I am really going to get back on my training schedule now that I am registered!!

Disney doesn't time there 5K races and thus don't use chips. It is self timed and no results posted anywhere.

Robert, Is this a new change? Because I did the Minnie 5k last May at Epcot, and we used a chip - and it was timed. With results posted.

Well, i registered my dd for the kids race (400 meters) and she is thrilled! Also ordered us 2 mickey hats!

Well I went ahead and did it - I signed up for the Princess half. It will be my 2nd half - I am doing my 1st full next week. So next week at this time I should hopefully be around halfway. Keeping my fingers crossed (gosh can't believe its really NEXT WEEEK)

I wasn't sure if the registration might fill up after next weekends Expo - I know they are really trying to push it and will be pushing it hard at the Expo. I really wish they would finalize a course. That was one of the biggest helpers for me during training on the treadmill for the full (well we will see if it helps after next weekend) I taped the course map on the treadmill and with every mile I visualized where I would be during the marathon. It really helped especially when I did my 16, 18 and 20 milers on the treadmill. Toward the end I started calling out where in the parks I would be.

I do hope that they are changing their mind about the course that originally was posted for the Princess 1/2 since besides starting at the Speedway (which I really really like that part of it) the rest of the course would be basically the same as the end of the full. Or the Minnie 15k and the backstage section of AK I did in the EEC 5k . One would figure with it being a "Princess" marathon it would go through MK. So that is my hope as to why they recalled the course maps. Just also hoping the map will be out soon. Whatever I am signed up now - can't back out now - I really want the medal/tiera whatever at the end to care what the course is like!! If its at Disney it can't be too bad!!

The Go Red for Women 5K is NOT a Disney race. It is run on property(like Race for Cure and NFTT) and thus they do different things.

Disney runs the WDW 5K & DL 5K which both aren't chip timed or don't have results(I did both last year).

I have heard from my source that they have permission to use MK and are working on new course for release. They are in WDW Marathon weekend mode he told me and way to crazy to think about anything else. I would expect map to be released at expo. I also don't think they want to release until race fills. Once they have your money, what are you going to do. I know a lot of people who signed up for the race and are doing WDW 1/2. They are not happy if a repeat in less than 2 months. They wanted to see a different course. Either way, people already registered won't be happy. Disney knows this too.
