Happy in between christmas and new years! Anyone else really lacking motivation right now? Not sure if it's *** i've been ill or just so busy but finding it hard to get myself out and running.

Just made myself a countdown chart for the princess to keep me on track. Such a child. Hope you guys are all feeling fantastic after a good christmas break

I am thinking about doing the 1/2 marathon. That distance is so much more friendly then the full like I am training for now. I did lack motivation but since its only 13 more days till the marathon I decided I had to get my butt in gear and get moving so I did my 20 miler yesterday.

Anyway - I really hope to be able to sign up for this 1/2 as it sounds really cool and I am a sucker for inagural events. With this being 70% full I better get to signing up - it might fill up during Marathon weekend.

Just found this thread! My Dsis(Amanda) and I are doing the 5k. It will be our 3rd race at WDW. I really want to do the half, but I know I just can't ready for it in time. So, I'm working on lowering my time for a 5k. We are staying at BCV. Hope to meet some Disers.

Annette :)

hey all! hope you all surivived the holiday! i did, but barely running at all and eating lots of junk! i figured on Jan 1 i will wake up and kick myself into total gear til the princess... i have been under the weather this week as well... again hoping on Jan 1 all will be better and i can get out there and run some more.. i got lots of new gear for xmas and a runner's world subscription.. my family is totally supporting my crazy new mission!!

I officially registered myself and DD for the race. Ran 4 miles today after being away (from home and running) for over a week celebrating Christmas with my family.

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE! The race is this year now :cool1:

I really hope that 2009 is a fantastic, fit and fast (finishing times!) year for all of you. Let the countdown truly begin!

Hey all!

I feel like a total slug!! Only trained 1 day out of 9... was away for a week over Christmas and didn't take the time to train. I am trying to motivate myself now to go up and use the TM....

Oh, and the food. Not looking forward to my visit with the scale. :scared1:

Hello

My mother and I just registered for the half. This will be her first and my second half. We will be walking a majority of it. I was just wondering if anyone knows anything about the course? I cannot find a map on the disney website. When i was first looking at the race after the minnie 15k last year I thought I saw a map. Thank you.

IMGONNABE40 Know what you mean about being away--the only way is to jump back in. The scale can be an awful thing this time of year--another reason to just jump right back on the treadmill. AS nike says "just do it":cheer2:

kristykayWelcome. My DD and I will be in the race too. I have done two 15K's and she hasn't done anything like this. I may walk with her or at least part way and run some. If you go to disneyrunning dot com there is a map, but it may change from the talk on these boards. The link is at the bottom of a poster and he posted a couple pages back.

Happy New Year!

Did 5+ miles on the TM and 10 min. on the elliptical waiting for a TM-must be the gym rush as people make new year's resolutions.

Thanks, Joan. Congrats on the 5 miles. Off to do the TM NOW!!! The scale can wait until Monday...

Oh, one more thing. What is everyone planning for the "long" training walk? I am thinking I'll do 12 miles about mid Feb, then taper off.

kristykay and joan4mickey: It's nice to see a couple more mother/daughter sets!

All of you doing or going to the WDW Marathon Expo, check out what is the first Speaker on their schedule:

Maybe someone can get some inside info :confused3

HI Everyone!

My BOYFRIEND and I are running the Princess Half Marathon and I'm kind of freaking out that I'm not going to beable to finish. I can't seem to get motivated. What does everyone use as a training guide? I see some people say they are going to walk...can you really walk the whole thing and get it in time?

Also, can we make our own shirts to wear? And are there people cheering you on along the sidelines?

So many questions!

Thanks!

to anwser some of your questions-
yes you can wear whatever shirt you choose. Im sure people will be making some good ones!

yes LOTS of people cheering us on...
its my first dinsey race, but from reports and pictures I have seen, lots of runners and lots of volunteers, and people cheering you on!!

Well, I have only done one 5k race at WDW, but there were lots of CM's cheering us on, and then towards the finish (where others were allowed in) there were TONS of people there yelling and cheering, totally gave me that extra boost at the end!! And of course all the great WISH'ers there cheering! It was great!!

As for training, i am doing the Marathoning for Mortals Walk/Run plan. Which basically, by race day, i will be doing an alternating schedule of walking 3 min. then running 2 , for the entire race. So, not completely walking but not running the whole time either.. i find it to be a nice mix. I am not a fast walker - so i can't see me walking the entire time at the 16 m/p/m required pace (which would be a 3.7 or 3.8 - forgot which - on the TM) for me, walking at a 3.7 is about my limit.. then i usally run at about a 5.3. So, believe me, as you can tell, i am not super fast.
I did 4.0 miles the other night in just over 59 minutes, and that was doing a walk 3 min. then run 1 min. (So, i am sure doing running 2 min. will help with my timing..).
I would love to finish at the 3 hr. mark, but who knows.. I just am planning on having the "back of the pack crew" to help cheer me on and vice versa, i think the back of the pack is going to be the fun place to be! :) I am sure you can do it, we will all help each other thru it!!!

Marathoning for Mortals Walk/Run is the plan I am also using. I definitely couldn't walk fast enough the whole way. I am currently walking at 3 on the TM, then running at 5. I'm hoping to increase to walking at 3.5 and running at 6 and see if that is fast enough.

Another :thumbsup2 for Marathoning for Mortals!! I am strictly a walker, and completing a half is definitely doable. It helped me to print-out the MfM 14 week plan for walking a half, and I crossed each session off when I completed it - that extra layer of accountability really helped. And of course, the WISH team is here to encourage and support each other in every way possible. Let me tell you - the feeling when you finish and get that medal put around your neck...well it really is incredibly amazing and so worth all the effort!

I've heard that Disney uses the powdered Powerade. What flavor? I want to start getting used to it before I get to Disney.

The powerade that I seem to get at Disney is the reg lemon/lime kind. Never really remember any other flavor.

I hope everyone is getting along with there training. I am tapering for the WDW half and this time next week I will have gone at least 4 miles into it!!!:cool1:

Keep on with the training everyone and we will all cross the line of the FIRST Princess Half Marathon!!!

Tapering Tracy
