Yep - 6:30 start time - It was originally at 6:00 then they realized that the time changes at 2:00 am on the 8th, so they pushed the start to 6:30 which was actually 5:30 the day before. Daylight Saving Time makes my head hurt.:headache:

Wow, I had not heard about the change in start time. Thanks for posting.

Thanks for your comments on CamelBak, Trimom. Here is the one I am considering:

This question is for all the WDW race vets. Can you bring a finish line bag for them to hold until the race is done? I like to change my shoes and maybe put on some pants after the race. Other events I have been in will hold your bag with a copy of your bib...Do they do this at Disney?

Thanks!!

Here is the Camelbak FLo that I use:

Have a good one...

When I phoned to book dining earlier in the week I wasn't able to. They said to call back in November due to the changes in the reservation system! This is making me a tad nervous but I'm going there to run and not eat! They were only taking reservations for Chef Mickey, Cinderella's Royal Table, and Victoria and Alberts.

We did snag a meal at the castle though!!

Della

Oh on my ticker it's 5 months 3weeks til we leave which is the friday before. Eeek apparently it's less than 180 days already so book away!!!!

I can't seem to stop posting on this thread today.....

Is anyone else questioning their sanity on running this race?? I just noticed the start time change, and I am beginning to get TOT 13K flashbacks. That was a HORRIBLE inaugural race. The hour delay in the start, no corrals so walkers were in front of runners (Please note, I have no problems with walkers, I love walkers, but it is really hard to run when you are behind a group of walkers taking up the entire road. I spent the entire first 2 miles running on the grass and running zigzag like crazy. I totally blew my pace.) Then there was the awful course with the giant mud pits. And the ridiculous price of drinks at the post race party. It was actually one of the worst run events I have ever ran in. But, I have my elevator medal so all is good!!:thumbsup2

Anyway, the whole point of that was after the TOT13K, I swore I would never do an inaugural event again. Yet here I am - totally and unbelievably excited about the Princess 1/2. I can't wait!!!!

But I am beginning to get worried - Peak season race, Daylight savings change the morning of the race, and now the start time change. PLEASE get this thing properly organized Disney!

I am! For all the reasons you mentioned, especially daylight savings time. As well as some reasons of my own. The last time I tackled this distance was the inaugural Disneyland half and it was the worst race of my life! My legs were completely dead for some reason. I finished, which is something to be proud of, but it was a struggle and left quite an impression on me. The other reason is I'm very prone to shin splints, so as the mileage ramps up, so does my stress level about my legs. But I'm also SUPER excited about a tiara medal!

Talk about firsts! This is my first time on the site as well as my first 5k! I am not a walker...avoid exercising whenever I can! Wouldn't you know that only a certain Mouse could inspire me to do this. I too am nerveous about keeping up the pace. I think given the time I can do the distance but do hate the idea of being dragged off the course by that certain Mouse! I will be walking with my mom and 16 year old daughter (daughter already said she was going to ditch us as she wants that medal). My husband is not a Disney fan (who knew) and my daughter and I make an annual pilgrimage from Ga. This year we decided to combine our trip (usually in Jan) with this ambitious goal. I will be walking to honor my best friend who lost his fight aganist melanoma last Nov.....even after this LONG post trying to convince myself I can do it...still doubt it! :ccat:

How tight are they on the 15 minute mile? I can do a 19 minute mile (one as I have just started) and seemed to be moving as fast as I could! I have had several knee surgeries and a hip replacement so running it is probably not the best thing!

:ccat:

It is a strong possibility that I missed this somewhere, but do we know what the course is for the Princess 1/2 Marathon? I saw that the 5K is EPCOT but nothing on the 1/2.

Look at the marathon course map on my website at http://www.disneyrunning.com/08MarathonCourseMap.pdf . Look at mile 13 from Richard Petty Race Track to the finish in EPCOT. The course is basically the last 13 miles of the marathon course.

Most of the 5K's at WDW or DL they are liberal in the cut. From what I have seen, if you are under 20 min/mile pace you will be safe. I have done the 5K at WDW and DL this year and many people(including myself) were over the 15 min mile. At DL we listened to the announcer say here comes a group finishing in one hour. If you do 30 min miles, they will cut you for sure.

Welcome Grumpy Girl!!!!!!!

Gonnabe40: There is a place to drop off a bag and pick it up after the race. Well at least there is during marathon weekend so I would think there will be for the Princess as well.

Just got back from my LSD 10K we did it in an hour and 33 mins, I have been dealing with horrible shin splints so we started out slow to warm up then turned it up and it seemed to help

Have a great Sunday all

That's a great 10km Kim. Sounds like you know what you're doing which is fab.

Hey, has anyone been in march before? I know it's not a holiday for any UKers, but heard that crowds are quite high. Is that because of spring break? Am i going to have an issue booking a hotel do you think?

Christine- camel backs look great, i've discovered that my running belt slips up now i have tight shorts. Please let me know how you get on if you get one

I'm still bit sore after 8.9miles yesterday, but really excited that it was nearly 2/3 of half marathon. Weird logic hey!

Katie WTG. That is awesome!!!!

I was there this past March for 1 day at the end of the Ontario spring break and the end of our cruise....not sure what US schools also had spring break, but it was crazy....however, it was also a Sunday at MK and it was crazy packed. DD and I stayed a few hours and left, not fun at all.

I am hoping it isn't that bad next year:confused3

March/April tend to be busy at WDW. It is spring breaks for school and for some colleges. That is why I was very suprised that their is a Half Marathon trying to go on at the same time. But Hey, Disney gets alot for the race registration and then they get the highest prices for the hotel rooms!! THey win both ways. What are you going to do.
When we went at the beginning of April last year it was still pretty crowded. Our Broward County schools go on SPring Break in April, but there are many others that go at all other times.

ok guys so if it's full of school/college kids will our tactic of hitting parks early for a few hrs each day work? I know i was never keen to get up early!
Ahh i'm dreading it being busier than last year (late april/may)- i will have moany parents. In a way i wish i was going solo then wouldn't have to worry about this!
hope you've all had a great weekend and here are some advanced :cheer2: for training this week

Hockeychic--great job on the 10K. That is about my pace as well. I am hoping to improve a bit from my 15 minute mile. Thanks for the info on the bag.

Welcome Grumpy Girl!!

I had not been in March before. I was a bit disappointed to see that they were doing this in peak season, then pleasantly surprised to see the discount on rooms booked through Disney Sports for the event. Race fees were high, however. Maybe the medal is made of gold!

I walked 8 miles on the paths at the cemetary today. My pace was on target with a 15 minute mile (14:59 to be exact!!) which surprised me a bit since there was an incredible wind storm going on at the time and I thought for sure walking into the wind was slowing me down. Not to mention going around all the trees that were down across the roads... Kinda weird, actually. I probably should have left with the trees falling all around me...but I was in the "mode" and you know, it is hard to quit. But I thought wouldn't it be just like me to die in a cemetary because a tree fell on me!!
