thanks for your reply lauren. well i've just found out from work that my uni dates are now once a week and not in blocks which means..... i've just registered for the princess 1/2! Now i don't even have to fly home the day of the run and i'm going to walk the 5km with Dmum too. Look forward to this thread really taking off as we get nearer time to run like a princess

I am also looking forward to this thread taking off when we get closer. I check by daily and am disappointed when no one has posted. I was excited to see Lauren post today.
 
Hi! I am new to this forum - spend most of my time in the DISigns forum. I am running the Princess 1/2 Marathon and staying at the Poly. This will be my first 1/2. I am excited to read all of the great info in this thread.

When do you think we will know the routes for the 5k?
 
According to the website the 5K will be run in Epcot. That's also where the kids races are. I was hoping they would post the routes soon too!
 
I just did the DL half. I didn't have any plans to run again until the next Dl half, but after reading all of your posts, I want to do the Princess half. Any ideas on what kind of training I should be doing between now and March? Not sure if I should try to increase the mileage, work on getting faster or just find a generic plan and start in the middle. :confused3

I'm still thinking about this one... DF saw an ad for it in one of the running magazines and was asking me about it. I guess if I can find a good deal on airfare ...:rolleyes1 I'm not really into the Princess theme but I think it would be fun to be part of the first race :goodvibes

Hang on vicky- DF brought it up?!?!? That's a fab sign. Yay i might get to run with you again after all. I'm also not a massive princess fan, but do love beauty and the beast so i'll go with that!
 
Bunnyfoo: Come on, do it! You know you want to. Who really doesn't want a pink medal? My DH is walking with me. If I ever get rehabbed enough to get back to training. But I'm not dwelling on that right now.

At the Minnie expo they said Epcot for the 5K too. Or I think the more accurate quote would be "most like Epcot again" LOL I forgot to ask if they knew when a map would be listed for the races.

ROBERT?!?!?! If you catch sight of this did YOU? I was a bit travel weary when I arrived at the DL Expo and was a bit more worried on finding out if they had decided on the EE5K obstacles :upsidedow and Susan was a tad bit more nervous about that weekends 1/2.

It's going to be a fantastic weekend in March though! I was talking to a lady on the way back to the airport this past week. She had run the Minnie 15K dressed as Minnie and did the DL 1/2 as Tink and told me her and her friends were planning on doing the Princesses for the March race. I seem to recall it was a group of 5. The race should be tons of fun with all the Princesses.

I plan on wearing a tiara but need to get one yet. :) I picked up a lime green boa but might wear that in January. I'm undecided on when and if I will. I guess a lot will depend on the temps. If it's hot/humid then no. :)



PIGLETLIZ!!! Congrats on your DL! I don't think we met while there so we'll have to remedy that in March ;) As far as what you are doing now it would really depend on your goal for the March race. I would say maintain your miles and work on speed. Working in some core exercises as that is always a plus for later in the race when I start to tire and want to slump.

Susan and I are doing the January 1/2 so we will be building up the mileage again. We will be returning to the long day on Saturdays. I will have 2 days of working on my run/walk intervals. Sundays with Susan working on her running. Along with circuit training. And that is what we will continue to do thru March. Actually pretty much that is all the time for us since it seems we have some distance race usually on the horizon.

I definitely want to dress up as a princess or something for this race. I haven't decided yet what I plan on doing. I considered a tiara but have never found one that doesn't give me a headache after a short amount of time and I have a feeling several hours with one on my head is out of the question. I really should get moving on it. It is only 6 months + 1 day away.

Hi Diane! Thanks for the advice. I will definitely start working on those things this week. My goal is to get faster and still enjoy the race.

I volunteered at the expo Friday and Saturday, so it is entirely possible that we met. If not, I'll look for you in March. :goodvibes
 
Hi guys!! I am home from my Disney Cruise! Got in last night.. flight was a bit bumpy flying in thru Hanna, but not bad..
Also, they changed my intinerary a bit, and we didn't make the last stop at CC - but the first time we went, it was beautiful!!
Ate wayyy too much! LOL And did the TM once during the trip (not as much as i hoped, just too much other stuff going on!)
Now, i am home, starting my non-summer hours tomorrow (M-F 9-2) and dd is starting school tomorrow (she missed the first four days due to cruise). So, lots going on!
Now that i am home, i need to think of a training plan.. i can't believe this race is only 6 mo. away! Yikes!!

Lauren, thanks for keeping the thread going for me!! :) How are you doing with your injury??

Glad to see some new posters too! Welcome!!
 
Vicky I was thinking about this also but would probably be solo. If you find any good flights out of Toronto let me know;)
 
Hey Caitsmama! I'm glad you're back and had a great trip. At least you made CC once. I can't wait to get back there. The rehab is going pretty good. Most of the pain and swelling is gone, so that's good. On the downside, I'm still not allowed on the TM because when I do the ankle blows up. I'm kinda down about that but trying to keep a positive attitude. Or at least not kill people in my general vicinity. ;)
