Hello I remember reading about priceline here before and am now ready to try it. I want to book a hotel in Toronto for a weekend this summer. I want a 4 star just cause...;) or a 3 star. But have champagne taste and only a beer budget!! I read through and it says you can't pick the hotel, they pick for you. So I need your tips What do I bid, what is a reasonable amount for the 3 or 4 stars? And when should I bid? 1 week 2 weeks 3 weeks before I go? Does that make a difference on how good a deal you can get? I'm so excited about doing this and could use any help anyone is willing to offer!! Thankyou Thankyou Thankyou!!::yes::

I haven't used Priceline before but when I was looking into it, I was told to go to BiddingforTravel.com People who've used Priceline usually bid what category of hotel, their dates and what their bid amount was. There are also lists of hotels for each of the categories for some of the regions. It should help to give you an idea of what to bid.

HTH :p

I have used it for 2 summers in a row and bid 3 star and got Marriot Eatons Centre. I think my bid was around $35-$40. This last trip my DH and DS went and were upgraded to concierge level.

I've used Priceline for stuff in the US only through. I would first check prices at Expedia & Hotelkingdom & hotwire because you get an idea of what some of the rack rates are and also some of the types of hotels listed are.

Another site to try for bidding help and some rate paid is; Better Biddiing

Good bidding and let us know what you get too.

Hockey mom.... I went through the process with priceline but got stopped because they want an American billing address. How did you deal with that? Is it not for Canadian bidders, do you have an american post office box? Your rate for that hotel was awesome! I can't imagine paying full price now that I know that.:( Oh I hope I can figure this out.

Thanks to you all for responding I checked out those websites and they have a ton of help there if I can just get by the American address thing though.:)

Where it says adress I put mine in. City-mine. State-I use California and zip code I use 11111. They never mail anything to you so your adress is not needed, your confirmation is printed off of your e-mail and I have yet to be asked to show any paperwork anyway. Remember though they will not accept a CND visa- you have to use Amex or master card. Good luck.

The address went through fine, but my bid was not excepted. I'll try again in a week. Hopefully I'll have some luck then. Thanks again!!
