Calling all O'Hare Parking Experts...

Are there any on the Disboards? I am planning a surprise trip for my two kids and myself and I'm trying to weigh my parking options. Our flight leaves early AM on a Thursday and return after 10PM on a Sunday. If I were to park in the O'Hare garage, it would be $100. I don't consider that an option really.
These are the options I'm considering:

Getting a ride to the airport and taking a limo/cab home

Using ParkNJet remote parking/shuttle service (or some other similar service)

O'Hare Remote Parking

Any suggestions? Even if not O'Hare, I'm sure others from similarly sized airports have tips and tricks. All suggestions appreciated. TIA

We usually take a cab from my Mom's house. Leaving my car at her house. From her town its about $25 one way. Much less than the $100 you would have to pay.

We have also parked in the remote parking, where you take the tram. Thats not bad either, don't remember how much it is. DH usually drops us at the tram center and then parks the car. I think you can check on line for remote parking prices.

Getting a ride obviously would be the cheapest.

From Joliet it would be cheaper for us to just park it and and 100.00. Our limo is twice that much. But we are going for over 2 weeks and even remote parking is too high, and I don't want to leave car there that long. But for a short trip I would / I have. Good luck. O'hare has some really nice parking. But if you can get a "ride" that is always a good way to go.

Because we live in a suburb that's close to O'Hare, we usually use a limo service, but I've also parked in economy lots E and G many times.

Economy lots E and G are $13 per day. The main parking structure is $26 per day. Valet parking, hourly parking, and International Terminal parking are even higher.

For a trip from Thursday morning until Sunday night, economy lot E or G would be $52 for 4 days. That's not too bad.

The ATS train station is in lot E, but, unless you're very lucky, you won't find a parking spot near the ATS station. So just park near a bus stop, and take the parking lot bus to the ATS station.

Sometimes lot E is closed because it's near capacity, so you have to park in lot G across the street. You'll have to take a parking lot bus to the ATS station, but it's really no worse than parking in lot E.

When using remote parking, allow a little extra time. The ATS train stops at International and at the 3 terminals. American is the first stop after International. United/Ted is the last stop.

There are also a few private parking companies near O'Hare. I've never tried them. I doubt any would be as convenient as economy lots E and G, but you might get other benefits such as covered parking.

We used to always use a limo to O'Hare till we got hosed three times in a row, nearly missing our flight on two of those occasions. I have become a huge fan of the offsite parking lots. There are two on Manneheim that I used a lot...if you do a search, you can find coupons for both of them. Their shuttle buses are so much less crowded than the airport remote lots.

We just got back from Ohare and used Avistar with no problems. There were coupons online for $7.95/day. I found the coupons doing a google search.

We've used Parknjet too with no problems.

You said your flight is early am. For not much more than the $100 you could get a sleep n fly rate. Stay in an airport hotel the night before.

Good Luck! We take the train from our NW suburb, it lets us off at the remote lot where the bus takes us to the monorail system, really easy and convenient!!

Probably not a good idea. If you book through PL you won't get the sleep and fly rate and most hotels will charge you for parking. Find out how much the hotels normally charge for parking so you can discount your bid accordingly.

I checked into sleep n fly info and seriously considered it but the hotels which I considered to be in my price range have shuttles the leave for the airport at 6am, I need to be there about 30 mins to an hour earlier than that so I think that won't work out for us.

Definitely don't use Priceline for sleep & fly...they will NOT let you park there at the Priceline rate. Same thing with Hotwire...we're gotten Candlewood Suites on them and then parked at Avistar, which is nearby. I like Avistar because you drop off/pick up your car inside the building. Just one thing to be aware of...you might need to wait for a second shuttle if the first one fills. We had that happen at a peak time at Avistar.

The sleep n fly rates seem to be $100-$130. You may be leaving before the free breakfast so discount that.
