So my BIL & SIL just returned from WDW and had a great time at Ohanas, so DH is thinking that we should give it a try too. I had an ADR for our last trip, but ended up cancelling it because I was a little nervous about what DD and I would eat. DH is a carnivore, but DD and I are vegetarians. To make matters worse, DD is highly allergic to eggs so she wouldn't even be able to eat the wontons!

Has anyone been to Ohanas with people who have some "dietary issues" like ours? Any idea if there is much of anything that we could eat?

Thanks!

There is a salad with dressing that is served. Also side dishes of veggies, potatoes w/cheese, and peel and eat shrimp in a yummy sauce. Then of course, lots of meat. Dessert is bread pudding with vanilla ice cream, banana, and carmel sauce.

How old is your DD? They do let kids order a kids meal. I think it comes from Kona?? I saw several kids eating chicken nuggets and mac and cheese in December. I know when our family went in 2003, my boys ordered kids meals. Our DD was 23 mos old and ate some of the turkey and some of her brothers french fries. This past December they all ate off the regular menu. The potatoes were an especially big hit with all three of them. :)

As for the egg allergy, I'm sure your server can have a chef come over and talk to you about it. I believe you may even call the restaurant a couple days before and let them know. I know in some cases, special dishes have been prepared for people with food allergies or special desserts for people who are diabetic. It never hurts to ask. BTW, if DH loves meat, this is the place! :)

Ohana's is wonderful about accomodating special needs diets. My mother was going through a health cleansing diet where she was only able to eat limited amount of very specific foods. Well, naturally she was concerned about going to WDW and getting to eat at her favorite restaurants. She was afraid that they would not have anything for her on the menu, and would not be able to eat with the rest of us. Not true!! At every restaurant, the chef came out to speak with her personally, and prepared a special meal just for her. Ohana was wonderful about this, and even brought her a separate dessert that she could enjoy while the rest of us enjoyed the bread pudding. Do not be afraid to ask for the chef...they will make sure that your child is served something she will be able to eat. Relax, Ohanas will take care of you!

Good to hear what you both have to say. We are very used to speaking with the chefs at the restaurants at WDW, but maybe I'll call ahead as well.
