I am a  DISer from western NY around Rochester. I was kicking around the thought of starting a DIS meet, Maybe a family picnic or just an adult gathering at a book store or coffe shop. Anyone up for it? If not I would still like to have you check in just to see how many other obssesed DISers we have from NY. :wave2:

I am right outside of Buffalo! :sunny:

So, where and when are you thinking of getting together?

We'll be at the first MNSSHP on 9/15, back on 9/17. Heading back on 12/9 for MVMCP & my DS' 10th b-day and back on 12/16.

Phew, 2 trips down this year, 2 more to go, thank goodness for APs!!

I'm in the Saratoga area.

toocooltobeMom we don't have a trip coming up :sad1: but we have driven in the past, sometimes driving the whole way, sometimes picking up the auto train in Virginia. LMK if I can help at all.

I see you're in the Finger Lakes area ... we'll be vacationing there in August.
Would you recommend Buttermilk, Taughannock or Treman state parks? Or all 3? :rotfl: We are renting a house on the west shore of Seneca Lake.

If you DD loved the "old" Strong Museum, you've gotta check out the new Strong National Museum of Play as it is called now, all I can say is WOW!

Really depends on what activities you plan on doing or what you're looking for. Robert Treman SP in Ithaca is beautiful with all the waterfalls, esp Lucifer Falls. Buttermilk Falls SP, IMO is nice but not as much to do, that is what we found at least. Taughannock Falls SP is really nice too, the falls themselves are just gorgeous and they do often have concerts & other activities in the park, plus tours thru the gorge. HTH! :)

I'm from Geneva, NY...no trips planned, but thinking about 2007. We love to know if you plan a meet.

Dandelion - we spend all our summer days on the westside of Seneca Lake. There is tons to do and the state parks are great. I can let you in on some insider things to do if you want some activites. PM if you want some info.

Hi Saratogans,

All the SP's mentioned are beautiful to visit. Taughannock has to be my favorite out of three. You can trek all the way up toward the "Fall". If you don't mind getting wet, take the water path up.
Other MUST-DO's include: wine-tastings up and down the Lake, Women Right Musuem, boat tours on the lake (either fior lunch or dinner) and my favorite pasttime, outlet shopping at the Waterloo Premiere Outlet Center.

Have a great time!! :wave2:

Andrea (andijean), dh and I had dinner once at Belhurst Castle and next time we stayed for a night. I still remember how good the food was. We really enjoy the Finger Lakes, but since we had kids (DD9, DS7) we've only been once, spending 2 nights at a WEIRD B&B in Hammondsport but having a good weekend overall.

I'll PM you for more info as soon as I can, I got the 'server too busy' message. :sad2: Thanks for your offer to help!
