Calling all NURSES!! Please tell me....

Tell me about your schooling, job, pros and cons, and whatever else! I will be going back to school in January and I am still on the fence between nursing and xray tech. The nursing program I am looking at is 2 years (roughly) and you get the summers off. Xray is 2 years and no time off. I know RNs make good money and the hours are demanding. I currently have a DH that just got laid off and DD14 and DS11. When I go back to school they all are aware that their responsibilities will increase. Everyone needs to step up and do more. Any info or tips you can provide would be great. Thanks!!

I think nursing is hard, and sometimes thankless, and am oldfashioned enough to believe the best nurses feel strongly called to be nurses. This gets them through the hard times. There are many easier jobs for the $.
