How much do you usually spend on alcohol on your trips to the world?

Trying to make a budget. We will be frequenting PI as well as trying out the Monorail drink-a-thon. I can't wait!

not ignorance. and while I'm at it - theres no such thing as a stupid question! :goodvibes

There is a thread around here somewhere, where people discuss the monorail-drink-a-thon and basically drinking around the world. They have named themselves, LOTW (Lushes of the World, I believe)

You will see in some people's signature.

As much as you have!! :rotfl2:

Seriously considering Beer is $5 a pop (or $7) and at the Polynesian the Lapu Laupu's are $10 I believe.... it just depends on how much you're willing to part with!! I'll tell you I do tend to "pack" my own too - I bring a bottle or two of champagne, and my favorite after dinner drink (Gran Marnier)

I think its a great idea to make a budget ahead of time, that way when youre having fun, the credit card is too accesible for just "one more"!!

you mean we're suppose to budget how much we drink?

we just got DDE, that should help bring down the cost of our lounge visits over the whole trip...but we dont really plan on how much we spend.

lol - OMG! Im laughing so loud right now!
LOTW lush of the world!

We grab a case of beer on the grocery stop heading in....and a pack of the mini margarita bottles...runs aout $22....we like Gullivers buffet at the Swan as they offer an "endless" glass of wine for I think $14...they just keep filling it. :teeth: We drop about $20 in Epcot grabbing a beer or 2....and that's about it. Drinks at the hotels run about 6-7 each...I think at DTD you can get the cheapest beers...I would budget about $25 if you like to have more than one nice drink w/your meal for 2 people. Have a few in your room, use WDW transportation to your full advantage and only buy 1 or 2 while you are out at DTD....it does add up, and you may want to remember some of the trip! :teeth: Just kidding...have a great time...you're on vacation! Just remebered..the biggest hazzard to the endless wine glass....every picture DH took of kids and the characters is blurry....we can actually tell which nights we were indulging by how lousy our pictures turned out.

Guessing ... Mike's hard lemonade??

Ahh, thanks, that makes sense.

Are there any places other than wegoshop that will deliver alcohol to the resorts? Unfortunately, wegoshop will be closed when we're there in July/August.

OMG, I just realized I was talking to a Hokie! :) Now, I find it hard to believe that you spaced out on what 'Mike's' was!! :rotfl2:

(My daughter is at JMU ~~ she's actually working at Epcot right now. When you go in July you'll have to say HI to her and tell her you're a Hokie :) She's a cute blonde captain on the Friendship boats)

Believe me, the alcohol can cost more than the food! Not that we walk around drunk or anything, but it costs about the same for 1 beer in the parks as what it would cost you for a 6-pack in the grocery store. If you would like to indulge in a few drinks on vacation on a budget, best thing we have found to do is bring a bottle of something that mixes with a lot of things (rum, vodka, etc). You can mix a drink in your hotel room and carry it with you (mix it in the soda can/juice bottle if you want to be inconspicuous - like when sitting at the resort pool which has a bar). If you are a beer drinker, it costs a lot less to by a 6-pack (about $10) in the gift shop at your resort than to buy individuals at the pool or lounge for $5 a piece.

Sooo, can your daughter deliver some beer to our resort then? ;)

Seriously though, congrats to the Dukes on their football championship. We'll be sure to say hi to your daughter if we see her. She'll know we're Hokies, as someone in the family will always be sporting the orange and maroon.

That depends :) Are you staying at one of 'her' resorts in the BW area?!

Thanks ~ she was disappointed not to be able to go to that game, but we were at WDW at the time so we all watched at the ESPN Club. There were actually quite a few JMU fans at the club which surprised us.

I don't really budget for my drinks on my trips...I just go with the flow! But...this last time I did bring capt Morgan and club soda with me for sitting by the pool (got the clear capt Morgan, put it in a water bottle.)

At night I like to drink martinis! Yum! I order those at the lounges in restaurants, though...don't want to be lugging vodka, triple sec, olives and a shaker around with me. Now THAT would be pathetic! :rotfl: Of course I bring some beer for DH...in cans so we can take it to the pool.

Have fun!

As for things we bring, we use to bring a cooler (not anymore since all rooms are stock with a frige) filled with a bottle of johnnie walker, coke, diet coke, sprite, TONS and I mean TONS of water :p, and sometimes a 6 pack of beer just to have in the room.

We're now bringing our own wine (Marques de Caceras) to have at our meal because a) some of their wines are pricey and b) we havent seen a place that offers this wine that we like very much

awwwwwww yeah :3dglasses

hey ahhhhh...lemme ask ya...are they gonna charge you a "corkage" fee or something? they have no problems with you bringing your own wine to a meal? Which restaurant do you plan to do this at? I will have to try that wine. If Ahhh and Minnie say it is good, well, it must be good!

BTW-Still working on my trip later next week....I will let ya know....still up in the air... :confused3

hey hey hey!

I heard there was a cork feek at Jiko's for like $10, Im sure there will be one at (where we're going) California Grill. We are taking two bottles of Marques de Caceres - Gran Reserva and one bottle of their regular wine (I believe the Gran Reserva is from either 95 or 97 and the other is from 2001)

Yeah, give us the info, as you know we'll be in Orlando from the 1st-5th so Im sure we can hang out at some point! Byebye fellow lush! :3dglasses

--edit--
here's the website, we always find it at publix: http://www.marquesdecaceres.com/

Gran reserva is 95
reserva is 96
crianza 2001

Spanish wine enthusiast right here :teeth:

I suppose all lounges and most sit down restaurants should offer a corkage fee since many people have those "special" bottles for certain occasions. In our case, Marques de Caceres is not only a very good wine, but it's also very special to us :goodvibes

Ack! I was planning on using wegoshop for our trip in July. Now I might have to hijack one of my kids carry-ons. How many cans of beer can you fit into a 4 year old's backpack?

(edited to add: whew, that was a close one, I just checked and wegoshop will be open during our trip. My dd will be able to bring her stuffed animals and coloring books after all.)
