Ok, here's the place to post all of your Hanunted Mansion secrets, stories, hidden mickeys (and a donald), and more! Please, add anything you feel like!

Have you heard the Barenaked Ladies version of the Haunted Mansion song Grim Grinning Ghosts? Its FUN! Groovy tune! My kids are loving it. ( I haven't told them the name of the group who sings it, however.) Its great "get in the mood" music.
I wish I knew what CD it came from. Someone sent it to me via email as a Disney send-off and they didn't know where it came from either.

This thread could get intersting.....
I know of three hidden Mickeys that most folks likely know, and the hidden Donald.
I'll start with the three well known hidden mickeys-
- spider web
- plates in the dining/ballroom
- ghost's sleeve toward the end in cemetery
- and of course, the hidden Donald in the chair

I bet I will learn a lot in this thread....

That snappy version of Grim Grinning Ghosts appeared in a Music from the Park CD that came out a few years ago. It was like the follow-up to Mad About the Mouse with music celebrities taking Disney park songs and breathing new life into them (You can barely tell that The Pointer Sisters version of the Pirates Yo-Ho song is the same from the ride).

Amazon still has it in stock -- Disney's Music from the Park

Funny! I just bought a copy of that CD. I rec'd it yesterday and have been playing it.

-The facade of the HM is a near-exact replica of the Harry Packer Mansion in Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania. The Imagineers visited the mansion while designing the ride.

-All the spires outside represent chess pieces. The only one missing is the knight.

-Paul Frees is the voice of the "ghost host."

-The piece of glass used for the ballroom illusion was put in the building before the roof was installed! It is so large that if it were to break, it could not be replaced. In the HM in Disneyland, the glass there has a hole in it made by a BB gun (shot by a guest.) The staff had to cover it with a spider web.

-Madame Leota/Little Leota are Leota Toombs a CM that worked at DL and WDW. Eleanor Audley is the voice of Madame Leota in the seance room.

I LOVE the HM it is probably my favorite ride in MK.

I bought it at the 25th and was unaware that all (I mean ALL, including the Magic Kingdom Band) the songs had been "updated." I hated it! I wanted the original versions of the songs from the parks. Luckily, the Disney Store let me return it to them for a full refund.

Here are some pictures - inside and out. :)

I should have said in the body of the spider in the spider web. If I remember correctly, it's the one to the left of the forward motion.

The Haunted Mansion has been my favorite ride since I was 8 years old and I made my Dad take me on it about 30 times in a row. Since I've been back I have hooked my husband on it as well. We have a question that I'm sure one of you can help us with. What is the painting next to the bride in the attic of. We have ridden numerous times and due to lighting, or just being distracted by other things, we haven't been able to figure it out. We're "dying" to know! :Pinkbounc :D :Pinkbounc

But do you know why? Because it is always "knight" (night) in the Haunted Mansion.

LOL! You beat me to it, Michele. I was just about to respond to this post myself.

Hmmm... How about the Haunted Mansion's weathervane? Have you noticed it is in the shape of a bat?

Great thread....here's a pic I took.
Doombuggies.com used to have a link to phone ring tones, my cell rings Grim Grinning Ghosts. Very different...I always know it's my phone! :p

My understanding is that it's the wedding band of the "Bride"...
it is paved into the floor at the exit to the ride...Check it out next time you are at WDW!!

Ring in the pavement......

It's a pretty poor excuse for a ring. I thought it looked like a pipe! My fiance was also thinking the same thing, he was going to propose to me there thinking it was a diamond or something pretty!

I can never see the hidden donald. Is it in the chair in front of the hallway with the floating candle? Are there any pictures out there of this one?

A CM there actually told us that the "wedding ring" is actually the end of a pipe that was cut off when they moved something. Sorry to blight the illusion.
