Calling All Haunted Mansion Lovers!

Can't find the rest of my HM notes, still looking. Anyone else?

Oh my gosh! Thanks for posting all this info.
HM is my fave ride at MK!

We literally run to it!

I found this thread during a search for the Haunted Mansion Ball.
I had bookmarked this site about a year ago and found it to have a pretty comprehensive list of information on the HMs developement, history and ride mechanism. Thought some of you might find it interesting.

Enjoy, Luis

I saw on one of the post that you should get a death certificateat the end of the ride. What does this mean and can you really get a death certificate from the ride. That would be really cool. Any info would be great. Thank you.

I LOVE this ride. I could ride this and only this all day every day without getting tired. I know of a couple of stories behind HM that I don't think anyone has metioned:

The dancing couples in Ballroom: The 3 dancing couples in the ballroom beside the organ are said to represent 3 of the disney princess'. Their dresses are similar in color to Belle, Cinderella, and I think Aurora. Their hair colors are also close to the same.

I had a chance one night to actually be stopped in this room for about 5 minutes and I can see where this little scenerio could be true. I really don't believe it though because Belle wasn't around when the HM was created.

The Light in the Window: (sorry if this has been metioned) If you look on the upper floor late at night you will on occassion see a light passing through the upper windows. This is supposedly the bride waiting for her husband to return.

As to the death certificate: I think the person might have been referring to Little Leota's lines at the end of the ride when she says "Be sure to bring your death certificate if you decide to join us"

These are the two I remember. I'm also one of those people who will quote the whole spiel line for line. I will always be in wait for the day when a hostess will misscue and I will jump right in LOL I could ride this ride for days on end and not get bored.

I was wondering who Little Leota is? All u hear about her is that she says that thing about the death certificate.

We found the ring for the first time this year. It was so exciting that we drew a crowd while we were getting a picutre of our feet and the ring.

I have heard the story about it being a pipe but it just doesn't register for me. The ring is very small and a pipe that diameter would have been broken pretty quickly as it is near the exit.

No matter what it really is, come on people this is a man made haunted house, it is there and fun to find!

We also got to see the new tomb stone but there were no lines that day and we were rushed past by a CM trying to get us in the house before the next room of victims. We did get to see her open her eyes but I did not notice that her head actually moved!
I guess we will have to take more time when we go back in December!

Another question---I've read that there is a man hanging from a rope in the stretch room, I've been on the HM ride about four times and I've never seem him. So is he in the stretch room and when does he appear?

Oh and the HM is probably my favorite ride in the MK too!

In the stretch room at the end when the narrator says "....to find a way out! Of course there is always my way.." The lighting and thunder crack, the lights go out and if you look straight up you will see someone hanging from the roof.

Thanks Bill! I'll be in WDW a month from today, I'll be sure to see the hanging man now! :Pinkbounc

As you're leaving the HM, just before you leave your doombuggie, you pass through a doorway, on the top of the doorway there is a small dollsized "woman" in a purple dress saying "hurry baaaaaack, hurry baaaaack, and be sure to bring your death certificate with you"

That's Little Leota. She was a cosmetologist at WDW and she was originally just a test face in the crystal ball. The imagineers liked her look so much they used her face.

Mark me down as another huge fan of HM, we just came back from our trip 2 weeks ago. Thanks to a great CM, we found the ring. She took us up the exit and showed us , and she told us the story behind the HM, and the story pintrader told is the same as what the CM told us, except that what spooked the horses was a crack of lightning, they reared and stamped the ring into the ground. I took a picture of leota's tomb while the eyes were opened, we haven't had them developed yet, so hopefully it turns out!!! Keep this thread going...I love it!!! Pintrader, you seem to be the most informed, any more good stories?

Big Leota's voice is Eleanor Audley, aka Maleficent. (This may have been mentioned and I missed it).

Ever noticed the brackets holding up the torches in the hitchhiking ghost room and in the exit area? They're skeleton arms!

I am sooooo glad I found this thread now I can obsess with other people at least I'm not alone,:worship: anyway......

Is the hitch-hiking ghost Ezra the realy tall one? and what are the other's names?

The wedding ring isn't a water or gas pipe, but it is a piece of pipe driven in the ground to serve as a socket to hold a gate (that's no longer there) open. At least that's what it looks like to me.

There's a brief article about the ring with a close-up photo on my website:
