Sorry, mods, but if there is somewhere better to post this, please move it.

We are going to WDW in August and my DH and boys, 13 and 16 years old, plan to golf. In the past, DH has always golfed with one of them at a time on the 18-hole courses as they were not of age to drive a cart. This year, the 16 year old has his license. As far as I can tell, you have to be 18 to rent, and 16 to drive. Is this correct? If so, could the three of them golf together, and my 16 year old drive the second cart alone if golfing with his dad?

Also, they are considering courses outside Disney. Assuming carts will not be a problem, does anyone have any recommendations for a good course nearby? They have played all Disney courses several times, so are interested in potentially trying something different this time.

Thanks in advance!

It really depends on the individual course/clubs rules and regulations, I would definitely call the course that you are interested in to be sure you'll be OK.

Most have the 18 years old, drivers licence and credit card required for rental/damage coverage.

When my boys were in there teens we found policies/clubs that were all over the board in respect to this. My wife doesn't golf so it's usually just me and my boys.
Some of the smaller locally owned courses were pretty flexible. Several years ago a family owned/operated course allowed my 15 YO with a learner permit drive his own cart.
Some of the higher end courses push the other way, my 19 YO was denied a couple of years ago and his 21 YO brother was allowed but had to sign a waiver.

Yes, that has been our experience as well. Was hoping someone had direct experience at Disney, but even tge, it seems, it depends on who is helping you. Same with on the phone. Sigh. I guess I will try to call.

If you're just looking at Disney courses, Magnolia and Lake Buena Vista were both 18 YO and valid drivers, not sure about the other Disney courses.

It's a course's choice. Most are 16 to drive with licence, but some are 18. I've driven them since I was maybe 10 (don't tell anyone, shh..haha)
