Calling all former RnR scaredy cats!

i just came home from disney and i went on RnR. and first let me say that i also was afraid of splash mountain and i had never been on anything that went upside down. im not a big roller coaster fan at all and i also dont like the sensation you get when you go down a drop on a roller coaster. i went on it tho because my mom talked me into it. the most intense part is the take-off when it goes 0-60 in 2.8 seconds. but remember to smile and keep your eyes open because it instantly takes your picture! there is 1 loop and 2 or 3 corkscrews but there are no drops! trust me there are small little bumpy kind of ones but nothing like the splash mountain drop or anything. and the music and all the road signs are so cool so keep your eyes open! and you r sucked to ur seat most of the time cus u go upside down. but its over in 1 minute (literally) so just hold on and it is over before u know it! and if u go on it, buy a souvenier in the ride's gift shop like your picture or something to prove to others and yourself that you went on it even tho you were afraid! i hope i helped.

:p I am loving all the replies. I wish I could take you all with me too.

SEAlla - cool links - thank you!

Ok I guess I am going to be the only one that did not like it. I am not a ride person and don't like drops. I rode splash mountain last year for the first time also.
Anyway, I have never been on a roller coater ever so RnR was the first time. My boyfriend said I would like it cuz its in the dark and you cant see anything and its a lot of fun. Well I was waiting on line and I was extremely nervous but I had to prove to myself that I could do this. Well I got in the coaster and the minute it took off I closed my eyes and screamed. I literrally felt I had no control over my screaming and just couldn't opened my eyes even when I tried. My head was down in my chest and I just screamed. I did not like the feeling I had in my stomach. It wasn't a motion sickness thing (which I do get) but that dropping feeling that just wouldn't stop. EVen though we didn't do any big drops and only cork screws and such my stomach still had the dropping feeling. I just wanted the ride over with. I got off that ride and I was shaking, tears were just rolling down my face and I couldn't control them. My stomach for 3 hours afterwards (no exaggeration) hurt so bad like I had did 3000 situps. It was so tight from screaming and holding on. Needless to say I will never go on the ride again. I wish I liked that sort of stuff cuz it would be cool if I did. But I'm glad I tried it b/c if I didn't I would be mad at myself. It seems like I am the minority here so go ahead and give it a try. You might be like everyone else that turns to to enjoy it. :):) Good luck

Here are pictures of a CLONE of Rock N Roller Coaster at Six Flags Holland! At this park it is OUTSIDE and themed to Superman!

Rock N Roller Coaster / Superman

The first two inversions come really quick and you DON"T EVEN KNOW your upside down! The third and last inversion comes toward the end and is a corkscrew which is nothing too extreme at all.

hulagirl, yes it was the same feeling I got when I rode splash mountain but because RnR is so long it lasted the entire. At least in splash I feel it as I'm dropping and it goes away within seconds of finishing the drop. But again b/c RnR is continuoulsy doing something (like cork screws etc) I had the feeling the entire time.

Oh and because the ride was so fast at first I thought I wouldn't even feel the loops and stuff but unfortunately I felt everything.

The ride is very smooth, not jerky at all. You are restrained with a shoulder harness, and you don't move around at all. I don't like drops at all, but I loved this ride and will be going on it again in September. But now that I see the Superman ride... YIKES!! I had no idea it looked like THAT! I had NO sensation of dropping, so this surprises (and kinda scares) me. On the other hand, I've been trying to talk DH into going on it (he gets motion sickness) and I think after seeing this, he'll say no. I've even tried to get him to go as far as the chicken exit, but he's too macho to do that!!

Bottom line - JUST DO IT! You won't know what you're missing until you try it.

I'm a 65 year old grammie with a 10 yr. old daredevil grandson and a daughter who's a big chicken. So when he wanted to go, it was him and me. I absolutely loved it and it's now my #1 favorite ride. So smooth you don't feel like you're on a coaster. It's not a scream ride, it's a whoosh ride. I did get my daughter (along with my 7 yr. old grandson) on it when we raved about it so much. They were both real nervous, but got off wanting to go again. Now for a December trip, I'm going to get my husband to do it (he's 76).

I'm a chicken...but promised my DD (14) I'd do the thrill rides with her.

RnR was way fun. It's over before you even realize you went upside down.

Do it! Then go do ToT!

I'm a scardy cat but rode RNR. My husband swore to me he didn't even know he went upside down but I didn't believe him. Really, I didn't know I went upside down (of course my eyes were shut the entire time). The initial 'take off' was the worst part to me but I didn't get sick on it. Sort of shakey when I got off but I did better than I thought. Still not 100% sure if I'd ride it again, but I probably would.

Grammie - you go girl! See, when I am a Grammie - I wanna be just like you! Living life - even upside down.:p

I love RnR and I'm NOT a rollercoaster fan!! We went on this ride a total of 8 times, my DD 9 loved it too, and she is not a rollercoaster fan either.

It goes fast, it's dark and the music is IT. The take off is a blast..
My favorite ride at the Studios..

Now ToT is another story for me, I hate falling, have nightmares about falling and I still went on it once to please my "ride geek" DH..phew. My DD went on that one too...once.
This time we're going we're all going on it LOL..yeah right ;)

I've already answered on this thread, but I just want to repeat...the ride is very, very smooth. I'm the one who loved the beginning of the ride the most and kept my eyes closed most of the rest of the way! But unlike Space Mountain---where sometimes my back and neck hurt because you get twisted and turned in the dark and may go one way while expecting to go the other way---I didn't feel that at all on RnR. The shoulder restraint makes you feel nice and safe!

I totally agree cd&kids!!! Smooooth ride!!! I never understood what the rush about Space Mountain is/was, my body hurt afterwards, neck etc. I WAS relaxed..Just didn't like the jerking your body around lol

RNR yeah!!!!

lol, my thoughts exactly!!! guess i'm really really glad it's dark:eek:

I have to admit that I WAS a total chicken, until I went to MGM with friends in Oct. 2001.. I didn't even have time to think about the ride, get scared, or even change my mind, we just walked right on, all the while my friend was telling me how much fun it was... and IT was awesome.. I was 39 at the time and that was the first upside roller coaster I have ever been on...now if I have been given time to think about it, or if it would have been outside to actually see, I know I wouldn't have even got in line, now I'm so glad I did...and its the first ride I head for now when we go to MGM, me (44) and my dd (23) and ds (21).....:D

I did not want to go on it the first time!! I was practically dragged on to it. But by the time I got off the ride I was laughing so hard there was tears rolling down my face. It is so much fun.

I don't like most coasters especially the ones witht he long slow climb up the hill and the sudden drop down the other side. I love RnR. It is everything the others have said, fun, smooth and one of my favorite rides. The first time with the acc3lerated heartbeat while in line because I didn't know what to expect was a little strenuous but we got off and right back on. Hope the lines are really short in a couple of weeks so we can try for many, many times. I am also a sixty something grandmother and sometimes it's just me with no kids or grandkids along. Go for it!!

Hey Everybody!:D

Just wanted to thank you all for your input and tell you - I DID IT!!!!! :p I rode RnR once absolutely terrified at first but ended up liking it so much I got right back on it again. Thank you Scott for giving me a little push (okay - a big one!) It was a blast!:teeth:
