Okay folks,

I am headed to WDW next week and I made a promise to a friend that I would get on RnRC but now that it's getting close I am freaking out. (I am not a rollercoaster person - can you tell? ) I finally got up the courage to get my rear end on Splash Mountain (yes I know, pathetic) in CA in July and, although I liked the ride, I can't say I would jump up and down to do it again. I don't like the dropping sensation. (I won't even entertain the idea of ToT) Anyway, I was hoping that someone out there who is a ride scaredy cat managed to get on RnRC and actually enjoyed it and would be so kind as to post a nice thoughtful message here about how I will be just fine and might even like it and all that jazz. Likewise, if you did it and you hated it, I suppose I'd wanna know that too so that I might beg and plead with aforementioned friend to let me off the hook and stick with my nice Winnie the Pooh and Dumbo rides. Help - I only have 6 more days to psyche myself into this and just the mere thought of it makes me want to lose my cookies!

Don't think about being scared or how scary you think it might be.
The only real intense part is the beginning. Remember to smile! Just get in the car and before you know it, it will be done!
And nothing bad will have happened to you except that your heartrate willl be a little higher for a little while (like when your in the gift shop afterwards). And you'll be way proud of yourself! RnR is my favorite ride at WDW.
But, I AM a huge rollercoaster lover.::yes::

Does this ride do a flip? I'm a little worried about this one but want to try it! Just want to be prepared beforehand.

It has 3 inversions (loop/corkscrews). I can't remember if it's 1 loop and 2 corkscrews or the other way around. There are no drops, just the inversions and some helixes (when the track makes a banked turn in a full circle). It's really a lot of fun and has an awesome soundtrack. Don't worry about the inversions because the centrifugal (is that the right word?) will hold you in your seat, plus there are over the shoulder harnesses that lock in place. As corkscrew coasters go, this one is really smooth.

Don't worry about me closing my eyes through the whole thing! I like to see what is terrifying me!:p I'd still like to hear from other ride scaredy cats like me who have conquered their "fear of the coasters"!

My oldest son is a total fraidy cat. Two of the times we were at the park, he refused to ride. When we were there last year, his younger brother and sister and friend all wanted to ride, so hw was shamed into it (couldn't let the little ones show him up!). He LOVED it! He probably rode it 10 times! It's the first thing he wants to do when we get there in a couple of weeks.

I am a former roller coaster scaredy cat. I still don't like drops and can take or leave TOT, but I love R&R. Because it is in the dark and there are so many other things to look at, most of the time I don't even realize when I am upside down. It's an awesome ride. Give it a try !!!!

I HATE rollercoasters and I had to ride this one because I LOVE Aerosmith! It's really not that bad, I think the music blasting throughout the ride really helps. You don't hear the roar of the track. There's a lot of cool stuff to look at, although I do close my eyes at the beginning because that's where you go upside down! Try it and have fun, at least you can say you did it!

My two nieces were terrified to ride it but their parents made them. They cried the whole time we were in line, and as soon as we got off they screamed "let's do it again!" So give it a try, you'll probably love it.

I love roller coasters, but have motion sickness ... bad. My DD13 got me on this one and when I got off of it I swore I would never ride it again. It made me very sick. Sorry!!! :faint: It's in the dark, and it's FAST and LOUD and it turns you upside down. Other than that - go for it!!! :crazy2:

I'M WITH YOU COOLDISNEY MOM, NEVER AGAIN. I FORCED MY FAMILY TO GO ON IT, OF COURSE THEY LOVED IT AND I GOT SICK!
IT'S THERE FAV AT MGM! BUT YOU GOT TO TRY IT ONCE.

I'm a total roller coaster scaredy cat and I survived RnR. I actually had to take the chicken exit my first time in line but I went back the next day to try it again ;) . It really wasn't so bad. The whole ride takes less than 2 minutes and I didn't even realize I was going upside down. I think as long as you're not prone to motion sickness you should try it out. It really is a fun ride to experience, at least once.

since it's dark you don't have the "height "thing, the loops are over so fast you hardly realize they happened and all in all it is great fun. imo looking down the hill at splash is scarier.. i always think" did it "Used" to be this high" every time we are perched on top!

I used to be a roller coaster fraidy cat - RnRC helped me become a Roller Coaster Lover!

I chickened out 2 trips - the 3rd trip, I had 3 people literally dragging me thru the line, talking me into it. We waited for the front seat (makes the ride easier for the first time)
I was so scared my mouth was dry & my heart was pounding -
The countdown began & I knew it was too late to back out - Bam! Off we went - Fast!

It was fantastic! I was so elated by the flying feeling - I couldn't wait to go back on again! Luckily, one of our group just happened to have 4 Fast Passes in his pocket so off we went immediatly.

Now I wouldn't dream of a trip to the World without doing RnRC. I do all kinds of Coasters now & love them. I still don't care for ToT - I'm not big on that free falling feeling, but I will probably give it one more try before I write it off.....

Oh & since I can get motion sick from spinning rides, I play it safe & take a half a bonine before rides. Never have a problem.

I say try it, you may discover a new love, like I did.

I rode RnRC for the first time in '01. Then had to wait until last week to do it again. My dd, almost 11, just wouldn't do it. But she 'pinkie promised'me that she would do it on this trip. She finally did it, with much nervousnes, but came off it saying it was now her favorite ride. Yes, you flip upside down and there are several corkscrews. But the ride is so smooth that the only way you really know that you have flipped is that your shoulders hit the harness!! Try it once. I find it much easier to do than Splash Mt.!!!

I like roller coasters....not a big fan of being upside down though....but I absolutely loved this ride.
I think the beginning is the best....just amazing to me that you burst away so quickly! The rest of the ride, I kept my eyes shut 99-percent of the time! It goes so fast and so smoothly you barely realize you're upside down!
But probably the single most amazing image I take away from the experience is when I'm NOT on the ride. It's when you're standing on line.....looking at all those people in the limo. Then suddenly they are gone! Like a flash, the people, the car...everything....gone!
Go for it.....it's amazing!

hulagirl,

Looking like you should really give this one a try, eh? :teeth:

Gee, I wonder who you made the promise to?

See you in (see counter) days at SSR!!! :cool1:

I am a total roller coaster scaredy cat and I love RNRC. The only part that I don't like is the beginning because you take off so fast you get that feeling in your tummy as if you were plunging downward, but you are not plunging at all. Once you make it through that, the rest is a piece of cake.

My whole family loves rollercoasters and of course we adore RnR. While we were in line on our last trip, there was a woman behind us with her husband who REALLY was freaking out. She started talking to DD and asked her if she'd done it before. DD told her all about it and she ended up getting on at the end of the line. We caught up with her afterwards and she told us, "That ride was FANTASTIC! Thanks so much for talking me into it." I would've felt terrible if she hadn't liked it but it's such a smooth coaster--it's great fun. Give it a shot at least once.
