hi! Ive been all consumed in reading for the past week. and sick! uck!

Have you heard of the twilight books? Its a love story of a girl, a vampire and a warewolf. Its a young adult fiction and Marc surprised me when he told me he read the 4 book saga. So he brought the first 2 books with him to FL for me. I was too preoccupied and told him to only bring the first 2. Turns out that I went crazy over them and was so upset that i was left hanging in the middle!:scared1: SO i told marc and he shipped the books to me!....Too bad im impatient because i downloaded the books in PDF online and in 2 days ive finished them! I couldnt even wait for the books to get to me! I dont want to tell marc I finished already because he went through all the effort to send them to me...so sweet:flower3: The books are so good and the ending was perfect! Highly recommended:thumbsup2 now I cant wait for the movie.

*I cant believe your trip is so soon! You must be getting excited! Its been so hot here the past week that it doesnt feel like anything close to thanksgiving for me. I hope you end up having a great time here.

**About the period thing...I know i have a daughters perspective. My older sister was quiet and to herself so i still felt like the first one going through puberty when I got my period and I wish my mom and i were more open. I was just afraid, its not like she didnt try to talk to me. But i was SO embarassed when she talked to me before that i didnt even want to go to her. I regret it now...it was stupid. I do agree that the trapping in the car thing is pretty effective. No place to go...but silences arent as akward. My mom always seemed to do that out of the blue on long car trips together. Like finding out where I want to move to so she can be near her future grandkids:headache: She doesnt seem to care that its so far in the future.

Sidenote:scared: My poor sister was starting puberty when my grandma and cousins took our first trip to WDW. She was stuck in the bathroom with my grandma reading her instructions off the tampon box while we were at the water parks! :scared1: talk about embarassing!

Hope everyone continues to have a great weekend!

CB - Read 'em, love 'em!! Emily & I read them together! We will be going to see the movie, but aren't optimistic. It is so hard to make a movie as good as a book. We went to the midnight party/sale when they released the last book. I am the only mom in the group that is into the series. Have you read the Host? Awesome book by the same author (no vampires).

sandy - DId the water guy show? How is Sophie? Did you get the dress?

We had a long day at the park, I just got home (9:50) and I got there at 7:30 am. Tomorrow won't be quite as long and won't be outside.

Have a great Sunday!

I was SO nice to sleep in this morning:goodvibes
Sleep was intereuppted though with Kevin getting a call at 5:30am for a house fire. So I laid in bed listening to everything that was going on for awhile. It ended up being a shed on fire, so I was glad about that. I always feel so bad for whoever has a house fire - I just couldn't imagine going through that. A shed, and it's contents, are so much easier to replace, than a house and your memories inside it.

I got alot of my chores done yesterday, so that was good. Today I'm taking the girls out for pancakes at IHOP, and then we are heading to the mall. We may even make a stop at American Sales to go walk around there Christmas trees - I love doing that!!!!! Then I need to come home and finish Katie's room. I LOVE the new paint job, and she does too. Her room went from bright teal/turquoise on the bottom, and a bright light purple/lavender on top with a Winner the Pooh border between. Now it is bright dark hot pink on bottom, and a darker/brighter pink on top, and a solid white border is going between them. The theme of her room is Dora the Explorer - she loves Dora!!!! I was so against it at first, but then I thought I need her to be her, so I gave in. This is also her Christmas present, so this is another reason why I caved. It really is going to look great when it's done!!!!:thumbsup2

CB - I'm sorry you're sick:guilty: I'll send some get well PD right away:wizard:
**I want to read those Twighlight books this winter - I"m glad you enjoyed them!!

Karen - The water guy did show, and before I left for work, so I was happy, because I was nervous that Kevin wouldn't hear him while painting, and would not stay. So I have my new water cooler now, and I"m happy!!!:thumbsup2
**Sophie is doing really well - thanks for asking. You would never even know she had this surgery. I have to give her her pill after typing this, and I'm wondering how well she'll take it. I'll mix it in a little peanut butter, and hopefully she'll take it easier.

Well, I need to go jump in the shower and get the girls up - I'm hungry for my pancakes :teeth:
Have a good day everyone!!!

I got my Christmas tree up at work yesterday - so I"m feeling really good about that!!!!:santa: This weekend I"m putting up Christmas tree #1 up at home, and I'm looking forward to having this tree up - it makes the house always feel so cheery:santa:

Stephanie had another awesome basketball game yesterday. The final score was 10 - 9, with them winning. Stephanie scored all 10 points and the last 2 points she scored at the buzzer to have them win the game:cheer2: She really does well - I"m so surprised and impressed. The poor thing can't consistently dribble though to save her life, and she's going to have to work on that. The teacher/ref lets the girls get away with alot, so she only calls them on "walking" if they walk ALOT, which is nice she's letting them have fun. But I told Stephanie that if she wants to try out for middle school basketball, that we are going to have to work on dribbling this Spring.

Well, I gotta go workout - have a good day today!!!

slo - How awesome for Stephanie!! Look at you all ready for Christmas! I am not there yet! I am so ready for our trip next week! I need to get going on the packing.

Emily's squad (the little girls she coached at the park) got 2nd out of 8 squads at the competition Sunday!! My other squads from my park both took first and we won the season hospitality award. So all in all a good, but long, day for my park's cheer program. I am relieved that this is my last year to direct. i will coach next year, but have decided to let go of the administrative stuff. it will be hard becasue I am a control freak!! I just need a rest! i want to really enjoy James' last season of park football next year and I think freeing up my time will help. Next year will also be Em's first year of high school cheerleading (if she makes it), so I will be able to enjoy that more also.

Have a great night!

I am so glad I found so many of you on here! My DH is a firefighter and I recently created a site specifically for firefighter wives! During his long stays away from home I would find myself searching the internet for a dedicated site/forum (not "groups or sections of forums) for firefighter wives. And I found none! I finally created a site just for US! The site is slow right now but I need you girls to help me get it going.
Please visit calfirewives.com

w w w. calfirewives.com

It is a site for ALL firefighter wives regardless where you live! Please visit and spread the word to all the firefighter wives you know! :cheer2:

I am SO sore this morning!!!
I did a different workout yesterday, with a lot of squatting, and my butt is so sore, that it was hard for me to get out of bed this morning:eek: . It actually woke me up in the middle of the night when I changed positions, and I thought:eek: I guess I found a good workout to help my big butt, not be so big anymore:laughing: I'm not working out today, because I"m going to give my muscles a little rest. Plus, I have a TON of laundry to fold and put away, bathrooms to clean, sheets to change - all by 9:30am. So I'm going to focus on that this morning!!!!:thumbsup2

Karen - That's good the park's cheer program had a good day:cheer2: I don't blame you for letting go of some things for next year - I would do the same thing!!!! You do so much, and you are right about needing a rest :faint: It may be hard for you to let go, but in the end, you'll be so glad you did!!!

Calfirewives - Hi there!!!! Did you Goggle us and find us, or did you join The DIS first and join us? I see this is your first post - so :welcome: not only to our happy thread, but also to The DIS!!!!:goodvibes I will have to check out your website - it sounds great!!!! Whenever you feel like stopping by here, you are always welcome - we always enjoy having more people!!!!:goodvibes

Well, I best finish my coffee and jump in the shower
Have a good day!!!

Good morning all!

calfirewives - welcome!! I will check out your site!

sandy - speaking of sore... The gym I joined finally opened (right behind my house) so I went Monday. It's overwhelming, but I had a good work out. I am going this afternoon, too. my goal is 3 days a week. I told Jim I was a little disappointed - I worked out and I came home, but I'm still wasn't a size 2!! I can't believe you have to do that more than once!! :rotfl: Maybe tonite... Just kidding! I don't want to be a size 2 anyway!

Have a great day!

Good early morning everyone!

We are up early because Emi has to do a SWAT presentation this morning, so I have to get them to school early. After that I will go weigh in. I went to the gym last night, but only did cardio. The machines really overwhelm me, so I skipped them last night. I may try to go again tonight.

Less than one week until we leave! I can't wait. I am ready for a break from work and life in general!

It's cold here in the Chicago area!! :cold:
Winter is definitly here!!! :cold:

Karen - That's so awesome that the gym is behind your house!!!! Do they have a pool? If I joined a gym, and it had a pool, I would be swimming laps all the time - I love doing that!!!!
**I'm with ya about the size 2 - I wouldn't want that either. In fact, when I started watching my food intake, and exercising again, I was a tight size 14. I still wear my size 14's, but they are very baggy, so I"m probably a size 12. This is fine with me. I don't want to be a weight that's very hard to maintain, because I"m not doing this totally hardcore. I just want to look good, and healthy, but I don't want to have to buy a new wardrobe every time my weight should fluctuate. I'm happy with where I'm at right now:thumbsup2
**How much weight have you lost now? For me, it's about 20lbs:)

Well, I"m off to workout, and start my day
Have a good Thursday everyone!!!

What is on everyone's agenda this weekend?
For us, I'm putting up Christmas tree #1 up. Tonight we'll take the boxes out of the attic, tomorrow afternoon I'll set up the tree and start the decorations (I don't have much time because I work for awhile, and then we go to 4:30 Mass), and then Sunday I'll finish :woohoo: It will be nice to have that chore done!!! I love the trees, and I do enjoy putting them up, but it is a chore.

Well, I'm off to jump into the shower
Have a great day today!!!

Happy Friday!

Not much going on here. We have our end of season team party on Saturday. I think we will spend some time packing and getting ready for Wednesday. I am so ready to go!!
The weather has been prety cold here and tonite it should be a freeze. That means I will be able to cut back the hibiscus this weekend (banana trees too). James said we need to put out yard stuff for Christmas. I doubt we get that done before we leave!

i just thought id let you know that its been pretty cold here for the past few weeks. You can get away with a sweater for the day but as soon as the sun goes down it gets frrezing. you may want to bring heavier jackets with you to the parks so that the cold doesnt drive you away. I wanted to give you a heads up because many people dont think about it and end up having to leave in the evening. I hate carrying a jacket around so yesterday I went out to HS with a long sleeve shirt and was ok. I even got hot, but as soon as it turned night i froze!

Today is my sunday:sad1: Next week they have me scheduled crazy hours. Like 50+ hours! but im ok with having a more substantial paycheck. Today I have an interview to be a campus representative for the college program. Im excited about that. Then im going to go to DTD and see twilight! I almost went last night at midnight but decided id rather save my money ($2  ) and go to the matinee today. I have my team cullen t shirt and everything:thumbsup2

CB - thatnks for the heads up! we have been watching Accuweather and will be packing layers! We are going to Twilight at 7pm. Emily is in her Team Edward shirt! She has another shirt I bought her at Pac Sun that has a book quote, but she went with Team Edward for tonight. We have several theater contacts so I have already requested any posters, cut outs, etc... for after it leaves theaters!

I'm putting up Christmas tree #1 today after I get home from work

I just love the holidays!!!!!!:goodvibes

Karen - It freezes by you!!!!! I had no idea - I thought it was warm all the time. You learn something new everyday :)
**Have fun at your party today, and have fun packing!!!:cool1: I have such a love/hate relationship with packing. I love it, because that means we are going, and I hate it, because I'm crazy obsessive over it (it's really is ridiculous how I get  ).
**How did Emily like Twighlight? It got mixed reviews around here. It seems like those that REALLY LOVED the books didn't like it, and those that maybe read the books, but didn't love the books, thought the movie was awesome (I got this from tons of girls the news interviewed).

CB - That's awesome that they ar working you more - the money will be really nice!!!!:woohoo: What are they having you doing these days? I always knew you were at AK, but I don't know what you do there. Are you enjoying your work?
**That's awesome about the interview. I hope you get the position:wizard: Keep us posted.
**I'm sorry it's so cold there :cold: My friend and her family are there now, and I feel bad for them. I hope they took proper coats with, because if they didn't, they'll be freezing!!!!! :cold:
**What did you think of Twighlight?
**Are you working on THanksgiving? Does Disney give you guys any type of Thanksgiving meal?

Well, lots to do today!!!
I gotta take Steph to choir, go to work, get Steph from choir, make lunch, run alot of stuff to the storage garage, take stuff out of the storage garage and take it to work, go the grocery store, go to Dicks for a new winter coat (I need something heavy duty for when I take Sophie out - like something people in Fargo wear:laughing: ) go to church, put up the tree, go to bed. That's my day in a nutshell :faint:

Have a good day everyone!!!

Hi all!

Sandy - Wow! What a busy day! How did the decorating go?
We get cold snaps here, but they aren't prolonged. It will be cold a few days then warm up. I ran into a girl and her mom in Target buying long underwear (so was I) because she will be in Chicago next week with the Azalea Trail Maids. These are seniors from each high school who represnet Mobile all over the place. They wear beautiful old South syle gowns. They must be coming to a parade. If ya'll see them on TV, they are from Mobile!! The dresses are one of a kind - made new each year at a cost of $2,000 - $4,000. That doesn't include the travel expenses, etc... :scared1: Only the queen ca wear pink. It's pretty neat!
I took Emi to the mall with me. We got a bunch of stuff to get ready fro the trip. We don't do coats, we do layers with fleece pullovers, long underwear, etc... I also took her to Buckle (jean store) to let her pick out her jeans that she will get for Christmas. She is very shapely, but very tiny (just 4'9"). Their jeans are so expensive!! But they fit her well and they hem them for free (a must). They do such a good job, you can't tell they were ever hemmed.

I think Twilight was good. Not great, but good. I was actually relieved! I was worried it would be awful!! Emi & i read the Series of Unfortunate Events and the movie was terrible!!! Harry Potter movies are great! Twilight was somewhere in between.

Have a good evening!

Have any of you seen the movie Fargo???
Do you recall the big coats they wore, and especially the HUGE hoods on those coats?
Well, that's the kind of coat I bought yesterday :rotfl:
I wanted something like that, for when I take Sophie out, and I wouldn't rest until I found it. We couldn't find anything like it at Dicks, or Kohls, so I finally thought about going to Cabellas (an outdoors store for hunters and things like that) and I found it:woohoo: This hood is so big, that I LOL when I saw myself in the mirror. But I don't care, because I'll be warm, the wind will be off my face, which is especially important when I take Sophie out first thing in the morning. :thumbsup2

Today is Christmas tree today :santa:
The house looks like someone dropped a bomb on it :rotfl:
Between all the boxes for the decorations, and all boxes for the garage sale - it's terrible!!!! I have a lot of work today, but at least I can do it in my sweatpants, with no makeup - that makes for an awesome day!!!!!!!:goodvibes

Karen - The decorating didn't get to far, because I got out of work later than I wanted - but that's okay, it was a sale!!!!!:woohoo: Maddie (my employee) said she had another sale after she left, so that's great!!!! I would like more than 2 in a day, but in this economy, I'll take whatever I can get :thumbsup2
**Emily is petite!! Stephanie has always been petite too, and I'm so curious on what her final height will be someday. Has Emily gotten teased about her height? Stephanie has (not this year thank goodness), but definitly in the past, and it would really bother her. I told her to tell these kids "the best things come in small packages" and I even found a Christmas shirt that said that:thumbsup2 Even grown-ups would say hurtful things to me, about her height, in front of her, and still do today (they don't realize it's hurtful, because it does seem quite innocent). Adults would ask me age, and after I tell them, they tell me, in front of her, how she looks so much younger than what she is (like 5 years younger). Or they would say how tiny she is. Now, as an adult, we wouldn't mind being called tiny (it's better than being called big:laughing: ) but to a kid, it's not good:sad2: So I always reply to them - Yes, she is so lucky to be so petite. Generally, that sets the tone of us not calling her tiny, but petite, which is alot more gentle on the ears.:thumbsup2
**Are you packing today? You are leaving this week!!!!!:cool1:

Well, I guess I should start decorating the tree.
The earlier I start, is the earlier this house can go back to normal:thumbsup2

Have a great Sunday everyone!!!

sandy - Hi! Emily gets the short thing alot, but everyone in my family is short, so she blends in. Sometimes it bugs her - esp. when it is her friends/classmates. I just tell her they are pointing out her height because they feel insecure about their own appearance. She really handles it well. I always tell my girls at least they will never be taller than the guy they are dancing with! I am picturing you in your big, fluffy coat!! I think I would be more into warm than looking cute!
Yes, we started packing today! Tonight I am doing laundry to add to the suitcases. I am soooooo ready to be there!

Yesterday was a total success!!!!!
*I got my upstairs tree up, and the upstairs all decorated + I set the Thanksgiving table (we eat on dining room table, which is something we only use on holidays and special occassions).
*I did several loads of laundry
*Kevin got all the Christmas lights on the house and the trees + did alot of other things outside.
*We got all the empty Christmas boxes back into the attic

We got alot done, and I felt so good when I went to bed last night!!!!!:)

I saw my first deer being butchered yesterday:scared:
Katie comes home and says, "Mommy, Mr. Rob is cutting up a deer." I said, "Really, did you see it?" She said, "Yes, it's hanging in the garage and he's cutting it." I said, "Okay, that's nice." and she went about her way. I wasn't thrilled about her seeing that at 5 years old, but she wasn't making a big deal about it, so I didn't make a big deal about it. I knew he got a big deer the other day, and it was hanging and draining in the garage. So later, I walked over there, because I knew Kevin was over there, and as soon as I got to the garage, I saw it - it was NASTY!!!!! Rob says to me, "Sandy, you may not want to see this." I said, "No, I'm actually curious on what you are doing." So he was cutting away at this thing, his friends were helping, and Kevin was watching. Rob says to me, "I'm sorry Katie saw this, but we were working on it, and she came around the corner, because she left something in the garage. As soon as I saw here, I told her she can't see this and to go home." (Katie plays with his DD). I said, "That's okay, she didn't seem to care." As we are talking he's still cutting - NASTY!!!!:scared: But, he's very good at doing this, and I was very impressed!!! He then takes the meat, and runs it through a grinder, to make ground venisen (sp?). Now I will never look at another deer again, after seeing what it's insides look like:scared: This time of year, we have deer by our house everyday. So, that was my new experience yesterday.

Karen - That's good that Emily is secure with her appearance. I'm hoping that Stephanie will be too, if she continues to be petite. Sometimes it's hard for her, especially when her best friend, who is 8, is a lot taller than her, and Stephanie wears her old clothes:rolleyes:
**2 more days!!!! Even though I was just there, I could easily go back!!!!

Well, I gotta run and do alot of stuff around the house this morning. I need to fold and put away all that laundry I washed yesterday. I also haven't dusted around here in forever:confused3

Have a great day everyone!!!!!

I am still working on the laundry! :laundy: I did clean my closet yesterday. About 9 bags of clothes to go to Goodwill. I haven't done that in years. As I have lost weight I have been getting rid of the things that are too big. I want incentive to not regain the pounds.

Sandy - ewww about the deer. Jim does that kind of stuff but I don't hang around! I can't stand to watch him clean fish either. You gat alot done yesterday!! That is great! I believe our decorating will wait until I get back.

Have a super day!!
