Calling all Fireman wives!!!

I'm eating Christmas cookies right now with my coffee
I do this everyday following Christmas, and than on January 1st, no more cookies That's the time that I start eating really light to shed some of the weight I gained over the holidays, and I always gain weight But the food during holiday time is always so good!!!!


Today is Kevin's birthday
He's only working a 1/2 day, and then we are going to go out to dinner
We aren't officially celebrating until New Years Eve, because that's when everybody is over. Which reminds me - I need to order his birthday cake today



Well, I"m off to fold some laundry - I"m forever doing and folding laundry

It feels so weird to not go into the store, and have no plans.

I ended up taking down one of our Christmas trees yesterday.
Stephanie wasn't happy about it but I told her that I had to take advantage of being home on a Saturday with no plans, and get it done!! I did leave the living room tree up, and that will stay up until the middle of January. It's not in anyone's way, and it does look great!!!


I think we are planning on staying home again today, and just veggie out in front of the tv. My one friend with her kids may come over earlier, but it will be brief as they are passing through to go home (she lives in Lake in the Hills, not around the corner).

So what does everyone have planned today?
I decided to keep Katie at home, and I'm praying that I can get her to sleep longer at home than if she were at daycare. I have nothing going on here today, so it should be nice and quiet (unlike Christmas Eve where there's alot of preparation).
I do have to go out this morning and visit the shop - I have to show them what to do when taking the Christmas decorations down. Plus I would like to wish them Happy New Year.
Than I have to go to Jewel and get Kevin's birthday cake.
So, not much going on - it's great!!!!


Who's all staying up till midnight tonight?
We all will be, even the girls.
Both sets of parents are coming over, and we have alot of snacky type food we are eating this year. In the past we did a meal, but we decided to do this instead. I love snacky food - it's always a little more fun. Plus you can eat on the go, which is good, since we are karoking tonight

I hope everyone had a fun, safe holiday last night.

We did - it was nice, and very low key
Kevin and I didn't get to bed until almost 2am
Thank goodness I was able to sleep in today, and I did, until 9:30am This is the first time I've been able to do that for over 10 years. I actually could of stayed in bed longer, because everyone else is still in bed, but I wanted to get up and have my quiet cup of coffee and DIS for awhile


Well, I gotta run - Katie just got up.

I'm doing a quick post this morning.

I'm really loving Stephanie not being in school, because it's so nice to not have to rush in the morning. I've been sleeping in, and that's been awesome too. It's going to be a bummer when she has to go back on Monday.


We had a good day yesterday - we were very lazy!!!!
We sat around all day and watched tons of tv - it was great!!
We watched Evan Almighty, Brother Bear, and the Samantha Brown WDW special that I DVR'd. Yep - we did alot of TV watching - loved it!!!

Not much sleep for us last night
Poor Kevin did something to his foot, and he's in a lot of pain - he couldn't sleep.
I went to bed with a slight headache, and I woke up 2 hours later like someone dropped a ton of bricks on me - it was weird - I couldn't sleep
It looks like we are going to bed early tonight

Hubby is active in our volunteer fire department and has put in an application for a full time position with the city fire department (still waiting to hear back from that, but not hopeful he'll be hired this go-round... need lots of pixie dust)!

It's actually warm here - it's 49 outside!!!
I stepped outside to get the newspaper, and I couldn't believe it - feels like Spring But I know it won't last to long - it's just a tease!!!!!


We are just hanging around the house today, which is great!!!
Kevin can rest his sore foot, and Katie has a cold, so she can rest that. I rented lots of movies yesterday, so we are doing that - all day!!!! I'm going to enjoy these low keys days in the winter, because when the nicer weather comes, they are very few and far between.



Karen - Please, please check in. I'm seriously getting very worried about you!!!

Kathy - Hi there!!! I was going to PM you soon to see how you are doing. Did you have a good holiday? How are the boys doing? How's your DD. We miss you here - I wish you would come by more often

Well, life is going back to normal today.
Here I am at 5:30am
I have to wake Stephanie up in an hour and battle with her to get her out the door on time.
I have to work everyday until 7pm
Yep........I liked life alot better during the holidays

Hi! I am so sorry about my looooong absence! The holidays were so busy and I worked everyday (even some on the actual holidays!)! I got Jim to take James to school this am so I could drop in!

We had super holidays! I hate the kids going back to school - back to the morning grind!

We went to the Independence Bowl in Shreveport, LA and got to watch Alabama win. It was Emily's first Alabama game! We had a really great time. We made a quick side trip just across the Texas line because J & E pointed out that they had never been to Texas! Our town hosted the GMAC Bowl so we went to the huge parade for that Saturday and the game Sunday. We watched the National Championship game last night - had to support the SEC team! Just one more game to go on Jan 26 - the Senior Bowl - and then football will be OVER!!!!!!!

We had one really cold snap a few days ago - single digits - but it only lasted a couple of days! We are back in short sleeves now!

Well, I am off to work!

Boy, did I sleep great last night, after such a bad night sleeps the other night (we had alot of rain and storms). Then I had somewhat of a crappy day yesterday, that I was glad the day was over (the reason why I had a crappy day is because I fell in a pool of mud before leaving for work, and then I had to reget ready for work. I quickly put my clothes in the washing machine so the stain wouldn't set, and I realized halfway through the cycle that my cell phone was in there, and now that is destroyed. Then when I took the garbage cans out to the street last night, they had water on top of them, and it rolled off onto the back of my legs, and down into my shoes. Yep, these things didn't make me happy )


Hooray, Karen is back!!!!!
I'm so glad you're back - I missed you!!!
I was also very worried, I"m so glad you were just busy, and not sick, or your kids or DH sick. So good to see you!!!

Just wanted to drop by here and see if Karen had checked in. Glad to see that she has and that everything is okay.

Sandy - sorry you had such a bad day yesterday! Hope today makes up for it!

We had a sad fire call yesterday. Luckily no one was injured but a family lost everything! The call went out around 12:30 p.m. and we were out there until dinnertime. After dinner I had to deliver a fire department benevolance check to them. I hope you'll keep them in your thoughts and prayers.

This morning on our local news they are reporting that a man threw his four children off the Dauphin Island bridge. I haven't heard all the details, but one was 4 months and one was 1 year old. The haven't found any of them. It just makes me sick to my stomach!
Who does that kind of thing?

Yesterday was a much better day

I gotta say, it's so nice now that I'm leaving my 16 yr old employee alone longer. It gives me a chance to go home and feed the kids dinner at a decent hour (I hate eating dinner at 7pm). Tonight she doesn't work, so tonight we'll be eating dinner late, but I can handle doing it once in awhile - that's no problem.


Kathy - How sad about that family I will keep them in my prayers!!!

Karen - How sad about those children What is the latest update on that story?




Well, I"m off to make the "poll of the day"
I don't know what it's going to be yet, so I better do some quick thinking

Karen - I saw that story last night! How terrible. Yahoo news said that the children were 4 months old, 1 year old, 2 years old and 3 years old. I just can't even imagine someone doing something like that! Why????
