Hello everybody. Just wanted to let you guys know that I read all 71 pages of this post. Guess you can tell I work 3rd shift. I am the wife of a full time Paramedic. He works the 24/48 shifts. When we first met he was a Vol FF so I know all about the missed dinners and family functions. There are times now that he misses family functions. Those late calls can be a killer. Also I deal with paid and Vol firemen everyday that I work. I am what some of you wives have called "the Dispatcher". I work as a 911 dispatcher for the county that I live in. I dispatch our Sheriff's Dept, EMS, paid City FD, and our wonderful Vol Firemen. I had to send some of our Vol FF's to assist a paid dept last night and the Vol ff's went in and saved the day and put the fire out for the paid dept. I understand how you guys feel when your hubbys leave to run a call. I feel like I have a bunch of hubbys with the job I have. I expect that when I go home in the mornings that I send everybody home in the same shape that came in. I take my job very seriously and I want to make sure I do everything I can to make sure everybody paid or Vol gets to go home safely. I worry about anybody that I send on a call. I keep regular checks on them and if I think something does not feel right about the sistuation I will send law enforcement too. I will check back in later to all.

I hope evryone enjoys the Mardi Gras stuff! I'll have to replenish Kevin's cups each year. That's about how long they are good for with frequent use!

We will leave Sunday morning. I know today will be busy for me! I'm glad I have Haley for company. I got to watch her play softball last night - first game of the season and she is SO good!

eeyore - thanks! I am really excited - even though I feel totally unprepared. Ok so, it's not a feeling - all those empty suitcases scream unprepared!!

slo - ok so I checked James' suitcase - 2 pair of socks, 3 shirts. Now he did have jeans, shorts, shoes and undies! So not too bad on his first try! So I fixed his suitcase- one down, two to go!


James' football coachs' son died this week. He was only 20. He has never been to a wake, but I felt it was important for him to go as Ronnie has been his coach for 4 years. I was very proud of my son. He looked very handsome in his suit (thank goodness First Communion was last year). He gave Ronnie a big hug and visited with many of the family members. It broke my heart - he started crying before he even talked to Ronnie. But he did it - even though I know he didn't want to. I really agonized over the decision to take him, but now I am glad I did. I know it meant alot to Ronnie & his wife. I also know this is how we teach our boys to be the men they need to be.
Of course this also applies to girls becoming women - I'm not leavung my daughters out! I know you guys wouldn't think that, but I would hate for someone who hasn't had much contact with me to read this & think I'm a horrible person!

Ok off to try to pack another suitcase! I have been to every store in town buying supplies, so now I can cram it all into one of the empty suitcases!

Katie just pooped in the potty all by herself Normally I have to remind her or I have to catch her about ready to go in her pants. I'm so proud of her!!!

Welcome to our happy thread!!! That's great that you are a dispatcher and you sound like a very dedicated one We have great dispatchers in our town and they are very good at their job. I sure hope you come by often and visit with us, we would love to have you!!!!

Idroveallnight - How sad about James's coach's son passing away at the age of 20 I do think it was a good idea for James to go to the wake too - and you are right about this:

I can't believe you guys are leaving tomorrow. Do you have alot of packing left? I can't remember are you driving or flying? You guys are going to have so much fun - I can hardly wait to hear all about it. Please stop by and say Hi before you leave. Ok - so 10 hours to go. Emily's suitcase in now zipped and done. I have not packed any clothes for myself yet! This could be a problem!! It does look like the weather will be great while we are there! I am really hoping for low crowds, but when isn't Disney wonderful?? I am so ready to be there - the drive always seems to take forever!

How's your family? We are as busy as ever. This is cheerleading season, Ds in also wrestling now. Our cruise is 4/8 Western on the Magic. I can't wait. No practices, no homework, no projects. We've never cruised, so I hope the kids do OK.

When you come home from your cruise, please let me know how your trip went. We are planning a Disney Cruise in June 2008 and I'm anxious to hear everything I can.

It does sound like you and your family are busy. We are pretty busy too. Stephanie is still in gymnastics and she's going to be starting soccer soon. Then in the summer I'm going to start Katie in dance (she will be almost 3). Katie is also potty training right now, and that is keeping me busy. Luckily though, she is doing awesome and is making potty training pretty easy for both of us .

Thanks for the good luck with the potty training!! It's amazing how well she is doing . She has been completely dry for 3 days now She is still wet when she wakes up from sleeping at night, but I don't care. Everything will come in time!!

I bet you are excited about your cruise . I have been on 3 cruises before (not Disney) and I loved them!!!

I hear you about wanting to get out of the cold. It has been a pretty mild winter for us too, but I still don't like winter.

Hi! We are home!! I hope you have all been well!

We had a wonderful trip! We really missed Sarah! We did wake up Tink, watch the braves play - James got his toes on ESPN! ESPN the Weekend was fun & James and Emily were both tall enough to drive Indy cars ALONE!!!

I will give you more details later! I have to sleep - back to work tomorrow!
