Thanks!!! :goodvibes

I haven't looked at the Florida weather - it's going to be cooler??? That's great!!! I better look at the Weater Channel. :sunny:

I think the term "cooler" is relative!! :sunny: I wouldn't change your packing! There is a cool front coming thru, but like I said a few posts back - it's still hot here!

I can happily say.......

(thanks to my DIS friend Wally)

I have my packing almost done, and the only thing I have to do today is pack our carry-on bags, which is sometimes the most challenging. The carry-ons are basically the girls entertainment bags, and naturally they want to take everything

Then after that I'm going to do some house cleaning, and then we are ready to go!!! I don't leave until tomorrow at approx 12 noon, so I will be posting one more time before I leave.

I just found out yesterday that Katie, has an impacted colon :guilty: Her diet has to be totally changed and she is no longer allowed to have any milk, cheese, and pasta. This is all she eats. She doesn't like meat and most vegtables. She doesn't even like fresh fruit. This vacation will be very difficult at meal time because she normally eats mac & cheese or grilled cheese at restaurants. Oh well, I guess we'll have to take each meal as it comes  Then when we get home, or sooner if I feel I have to, I need to start giving her a mediciane that will help empty out her colon. She has to be on this mediciane for 4 weeks (that's how long her colon will take to empty out). I have a feeling this will be a long 4 weeks. Wish me luck!!!

Well, I best go get Steph up for school :teacher: . I'll still post tomorrow because we aren't leaving until 12 noon. Have a good day today everyone!!

slo - icky colon talk! But here is my icky colon advice: LOTS of fluid! Esp. Water! Getting dehydrated - even a little makes it much worse. High fiber foods! Black beans contain 19 grams of fiber per serving!! James loves them! Your MD probably told you all of this, but I give this speech several times a day, so I can't help myself! Let me know if you need any more suggestions of if you don't need any more!! Best of luck!

Goodbye my friends!!!!

I'm off to visit....

We are packed and ready to go!! :thumbsup2
The girls each have a DVD player with headphones, so they should hopefully be happy on the plane. They each (me too   ) has a treat bag to keep their tummies happy and all I need is water once we are on the plane.

For the first time ever I didn't go crazy with the packing which is nice (I'm really proud of myself). Last year we had a hard time fitting all the luggage in our rental car  (an Explorer). We shouldn't have a hard time this year. :)

The girls are so excited, I can't even begin to explain the excitement :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc This is going to be our first ever MNSSHP and we are going to have so much fun!!!

I hope you all stay well while I'm gone. I will be thinking of you all, and missing you all. :grouphug: I will be returning on Saturday, the 30th, so I will be posting again on Sunday, the 1st. :thumbsup2

Until then, take care everyone, and I love you guys!!! :grouphug:

Bye Sandy!

Have fun and stay safe!

Happy Friday everyone!

I stayed home from work today. I've had a bit of a stomach thing going on. Hope the rest of the family doesn't get it!

Sandy ~ I'm going to be thinking of you each day of your trip and wondering what you're doing that day! I can't wait for a trip report and to see pics!

Hello everyone!

Happy Saturday.

Matthew had a soccer game this morning and the other team had to forfeit because not enough of their players showed up. After it was declared a forfeit, though, our coach "loaned" them a few players and they played a scrimmage game.

Right now A.J. is playing intermural kick-ball. I stayed and watched for a little while but then left so that A.J. would get some of the independence that he's wanting. There are only 10 special olympics athletes there but there are 20 Appalachian State University students! It is so nice to see the college students come out like that! When I left they were all having a great time!!!

Hope Sandy's having a great vacation!

Gotta go pick A.J. up so I will check in here again tomorrow. Hope everyone is enjoying a nice weekend.

Happy weekend everyone!

eeyore - that's great about A.J.'s game! That does sound fun!

James' football team lost for the first time ever today. They are now 56 - 1. It was hard! It was a good game! Double overtime. I was so proud of our team. They were so broken-hearted, but they got through congratulating the other team with dignity!

Have a great Sunday!

My DH has been a VFF for 10 years. He dedicates every 5th weekend to be on call and can't leave our town. He also responds everytime their is a call and he is home, regardless if he is on call or not. He also works his full time job in our town so he also leaves his work to respond. My DS's are so proud of dad. They too want to be ff's someday.

That's so sad about James' team losing. I know how hard that must have been for him but I'm glad that they kept their heads high and showed their dignity!

Hi Not so Dumbo!!!!

Nice to "meet" you! My DH has been a VFF for about 10 years and he is also a first responder. His full-time job is as a sheriff's deputy. I have been a VFF for about 4 years now.

We have DSs and one DDthat are all very proud of their dad too!

Hope you'll stop by this thread often!!!

Welcome Not so Dumbo! :dumbo: I hope you visit often! My DH has been a ff 16 years. Firefighting is his fulltime job. Come see us again soon!

eeyore - thanks! I think the boys (meaning my DH & DS ) are going to be fine! You can't learn to be a good loser if you never lose, right?

Good Morning All!

Very sad morning for our area and I would like to ask for prayers for a local family and also for DH.

Last night (around 11:30) one of the guys on DH's shift passed an apartment complex and saw smoke. He called it in. DH was less than a mile away and was on the scene in less than a minute. He and the other deputy started going door to door to find the fire and get the residents out. One apartment door opened and the flames rolled out. About six people got out of that apartment. The woman was screaming for her girls but neither DH or the deputy could get back in because of the flames. Three little girls did not make it out. DH thought they were 6, 7 and 8. The woman and her husband escaped with their one year old. I cannot even imagine their pain as I am crying just from typing this.

DH is dealing with the helpless feeling of not being able to get in there. He is also dealing with the absolute anger that he is feeling. This complex houses mostly hispanics. The slum lord had no working smoke detectors and no fire extinguishers in the complex! If there had been a smoke detector they may have known sooner; if there had been a fire extinguisher DH and the deputy may have had a little chance before the FD got there.

It's just so sad.

So please remember this family! :sad1:

:guilty: Too heartbreaking for words :guilty:

Good Saturday morning everyone!!!! :surfweb:

I can proudly say...........

(courtesy of my good DIS friend Wally)

Yesterday I didn't get my picture taken because the photographer was sick :guilty: I got all ready, Katie and I went all the way out there, to find out she wasn't there :guilty: The receptionist said she left me a message, I told her she didn't, and as it turns out, she left the message at someone else's house  So now I have to go back. Oh well, I guess worse things could happen - but it's still annoying!!!!!

Today, Steph has a morning soccer game, and then we are covering the pool - summer is officially over :sad1:

Well, that's about it from me today - have a good day everyone!!!

What a pain in the rear!!!! I, too would be soooo peeved!!! :furious:
