Calling all Disney sushi experts, I need your help!

This is our plate from the California Grill, it was a few years ago, so I can't remember what the rolls were, except for the rainbow roll that was out of this world!

I had the rainbow roll a couple years back and ohmygoodness, it WAS out of this world!

I'm taking DH to CG in December. Honestly, I think he would like to make his meal of sushi. We are on the DDP and I am trying to decide whether we should use 4 credits or pay OOP.

Can he get a roll or two as his entree?

Thanks!

I know that the deluxe sushi platter is considered an entree, since that's what I have gotten the last two times I was there :) and I'm pretty sure the California Roll is considered an entree as well. Meanwhile, I'm thinking about asking when we're there exactly what I could get as an entree - if any other combination would be covered. Because if that's the case...woot!

Thanks, DH is a VERY happy man!!!:cool1:

Our family has never been to the CG, but we have been to the Kona for Sushi (2009). We really enjoyed everything we had. I like rolls with shrimp and/or crab that have a some "kick" to them and the Sushi chef's prepared a couple of rolls for me that were not on the menu. It seemed like the sushi chefs really wanted to make sure I had a great experience.

I have to say, my favorite sushi entree at WDW is the Spicy Kazan Roll at the California Grill:

Here's a pic (and what the pic doesn't show, is under those bits of tempura crunch is a delightful pool of volcano sauce [not very hot] with perfect little scallops that just melt in your mouth swimming in it):

OMG....I had this twice when we stayed at the Contemporary last week and I still daydream about it :lovestruc

The sushi bar at Kona, is it part of MYW+Dining? Is it buffet? Dinner only or lunch too?

The Kona Island Sushi Bar is open from 5:00 - 10:00 PM. It is not a buffet. Everything is made fresh to order. I believe that it is one CS credit. I have seen many places that say it is not part of the dining plan, and I don't see it on the "official" dining plan list, but I have used dining credits both times that I've eaten there. We get the DxDP it's all TS credits for us, so I'm not quite sure what kind of meal it counts as.

If you find that it's not on the dining plan just get a table at the Kona Cafe, and they will give you a menu from the sushi bar, and it will count as 1 TS meal.

I'd never thought I could get sushi as CS - will definately research this. Maybe I can work out a deal with the kids where I buy their nuggets & fries at the McDonald's in Epcot and they give me their CS for the day? :cool2:
