I'm not a big sushi person (not a fan of raw fish) but I love salmon nigiri! I have ressies for Cali Grill in December and I couldn't find it on the menu on All Ears but I was hoping someone who has been there lately has seen it on the menu and if not, where on property I might be able to find it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!:goodvibes

Even if not on the menu, pretty sure they will make whatever you request for sushi at CG. Other options would be:

Kona sushi bar @ Poly
Kimonos @ Swan
Tokyo Dining @ Epcot/Japan in WS
Wolfgang Puck Cafe @ DTD

I'll be eating at Kona Cafe as well, so I might have to walk over there and check it out. :thumbsup2

If they do, I can order it from the cafe, right?

Yes. They will provide both a Kona and sushi menu.

Check out disneyworld.com then go to where to eat and type in california grill and click on it once it pulls up you can click on the menu. Also lots of ppl report they are able to order things not always listed so you can always try..

Man.... I have a perfect picture of CG Sushi - just wish I was smart enough to remember how to post pics :lmao:! My husband bragged about that Sushi for the ENTIRE week!

Absolutley they will make you salmon nirigi at CG! :thumbsup2

And as far as the perfect sushi picture, for me it is this one:

Taken in August 2007 when we went a little nuts trying out the sushi at CG ;)

The platter cost about $120 but it was so worth it! In fact, most of it was off menu. We requested a shrimp tempura roll and we received the best, most delicious, heavenly roll in the world. It is rolled with rice paper, contains perfect shrimp in crispy tempura paired with silvers of sweet mango and crisp watermelon and then dipped in an orange ginger sauce....wow...I'm drooling on my desk lol. I literally crave it nearly every day!

We had nirigi as well! Only shrimp & tuna are pictured, but we had salmon as well.

Enjoy! :goodvibes

I just wanted to add that the sushi at Kimonos is really, really good! I don't know if they still have karaoke in the evenings, but that was really entertaining too!

I am not even kidding - the shrimp tempura roll is, without a doubt hands down forever and ever, my all-time favorite roll. Ever. The first time I tasted it was as part of the combo platter that's on the sushi menu - I had that as my entree. I kid you not, my eyes closed and my fingers involuntarily gripped the tablecloth, such was my level of bliss. And guess what, the sushi stand next to Kona makes it as well! It was the last thing I had to eat prior to leaving on our last trip. What a way to end it...

I'm wondering if I asked them to make me just that roll as my entree at CG, would that be covered by my meal plan? Hmmm...

I would highly recommend trying the Kona Island Sushi Bar at the Polynesian. I have been there on multiple occasions because I think their Sushi is that good and I plan to go back there in a few weeks.

A few years ago, DD and I sat at the sushi bar at CG. Yoshi liked my daughter and was giving her samples, it was so much fun. But it was the waiter that let us know that a sampler plate could be tailored to our favorites. DD picked salmon, I remember it was delicious. Now she is all about the Snake in the Grass. CG still has the most amazing sushi I've ever tasted, just wish the servings were as big as they used to be. One roll was definitely a whole meal.

OMG I know exactly what you are talking about!

It was like a choir of angels started singing and fireworks went off. That roll is the single best piece of sushi I have ever tasted.

The one at Kona is really really good, but I still think Yoshie's at CG has the edge. We are staying at the Polynesian in 48 days and our first night we are heading to the Kona Island for dinner that night :goodvibes

While I absolutely agree with TheNewMrsB's review of the Shrimp Tempura Roll (who can resist the call of the tempura shrimp mixed with mango and Lilikoi sauce?), I have to say, my favorite sushi entree at WDW is the Spicy Kazan Roll at the California Grill:

Here's a pic (and what the pic doesn't show, is under those bits of tempura crunch is a delightful pool of volcano sauce [not very hot] with perfect little scallops that just melt in your mouth swimming in it):

We didn't stay for the Karaoke but loved the sushi!

This is our plate from the California Grill, it was a few years ago, so I can't remember what the rolls were, except for the rainbow roll that was out of this world!

 YES! I think I heard that same choir singing! And I agree, the Kona roll pales slightly in comparison, but when you can't get into CG to get your fix, it'll definitely do the job!

48 days! <---JEALOUS! We're going in 62 days. My tastebuds and extra-roomy shorts are gearing themselves up for it!

Astute assessment, Guitarob. The Spicy Kazan is my second favorite, a very close second to Shrimp Tempura.

Hence you and I having to order our own roll so we don't have to share with each other. Wouldn't wanna get in a fistfight on our anniversary.

That picture makes me cry a little bit.
