"Calling all Disney Oldtimers"

Hi All.. I am new on the post and think it is Great....
Finally after 17 years I am going Back..

I am taking my DH DS17 and DS10.. None of them have ever been there.. Arent they in for a Great Time... It was 1986 and in Epcot there was a ride that everyone in my family enjoyed.. I have been trying to figure out what it was called and if it is still there but I cant find it..
It was FILLED with Dinosaurs.... I think the whole ride was Dinosaurs ... But the thing I remember the most was the Smell.. It smelled like a prehistoric rain forest (or what I would think one would smell like)
Does anyone remember What it was called and if it is still there ???
I have been searching the boards and sites and cant find anything about it..
I really hope it is still there... It was the thing I enjoyed the most about Epcot at the time....

Still there, different narrator. I think its universe of energy. Sorry, I don't pay that close of attention to the specific names.

You are remembering "Universe of Energy" sponsored by Exxon! The dinosaurs are still there, however the pavilion was renovated and re-themed in 1996 to feature Ellen DeGeneres and is now called, "Ellen's Energy Adventure."

The original pre-show was called "Energy, You Make the World Go 'Round." It featured a film that was shown on a 14-by-90-foot screen made up of 100 rotating projection triangles that could flip in sync.

Guests then moved into a theater, where they were seated in large cars. A four and a half minute animated film called the Energy Creation Story was shown on a screen that was 32 feet tall and 155 feet wide. The film showed the formation of fossil fuels during the primeval time of dinosaurs.

As the film ended, the cars began to move and went into the area of the pavilion with Audio-Animatronic dinosaurs. This was the only part of the building not changed (except for the addition of an Ellen figure and some of the dinosaurs being repainted) during the pavilion renovation.

After the moving past the dinosaurs, the cars entered the Energy Information Center, where a twelve and a half minute film was shown. The film depicted the ongoing quest for energy and went to places such as Alaska and the North Sea. A shot of a Space Shuttle launch ended the film. The screen for this movie was 210 feet wide and circled 220 degrees around the audience.

The show concluded as the cars moved into a room with mirrored surfaces and early computer-animated images would morph and display a light show as The Universe of Energy was played.

...but basically the whole dino section you remember is intact, with the addition of an Ellen AA figure. The smells are still there although they used to have simulated lava flowing at certain points that either isn't working or isn't there anymore.

If you don't mind Ellen or her style of humor, you'll like it. Some of the Jeopardy sequences are funny. I still ride it after seeing it MANY times.

Still there but the video has changed since the beginning. Expect to be in there about 45 minutes.

Hi FourFun... I'm a fellow Ohioan My first trip to WDW was in 1976 and we have gone about 30 times since. Yep. We love Universe of Energy! Enjoy your first visit back. I bet it's the first of many more to come!
