Hi! I just got my contract from Disney and I am reading it over. There is a paragraph about doubling DJ fees if your wedding is in December. So, I was wondering if any Dec brides have used a DJ and what did that actually cost, and if you didn't, what did you do for music and the cost. Thanks so much!!!

It does double. I don't remember the cost, but for me it wasn't worth it. I used an Ipod which was only a couple hundred for the setup.

I read this somewhere when I was getting ideas together for our Dec wedding and decided "to heck with that!" We will be having an iPod set up for our event. It's just not worth $3000+ for our small-ish afternoon reception. HTH!

Hi-

I am getting married on December 5th and it goes up to $2300. They say "double" but it isn't completely doubled. I thought I would bring in my own Dj and there is a 1,000 set up fee. No thanks. I guess I will stick to theirs. We are having 80 people so I dont know if an iPod would work.

Im using an outside vendor Al from Al Dee Productions. I used him bc his prices were really great for everything I wanted, plus I have to pay the $900.00 set up fee for using an outside vendor which includes all of my lighting and set up. So for a little less I got everything I wanted. Plus Disney DJ's dont do specialty lighting like I wanted!

Check him out! So far hes been great!!!

I set up a few play lists that started with the important songs: Dinner, Cake, and Dancing. We had a jazz trio for the pre-reception, but it would be easy to add another play-list. I just had the best man (he wasn't doing anything else!) click on it twice. Actually, they somehow found the playlist and started it for me once the trio was done (I think my planner did...).

I understand not wanting to pay more for a DJ during the month of December and to all those that used iPods for their music I think that is great. Not sure where your ceremony is but we had 50 people at ADH and had DJ Scooter and believe me - he really added to the event. He did some talking, did all the introductions and really got everyone up on the dance floor. We had a few people request certain songs (my DH being one of them) and he was able to do this. We had a few group dance type songs - and I know some people HATE these but we really had everyone up having a good time.

One of my DH's cousins grabbed the mike and lead one of the dances. Coming from an Italian (me) family and Jewish (DH) family we also did the Tarantella and the Hora.

ADH also has some great lighting (see the stars on my dress) and this was all included with our DJ. Not sure if other places have lighting but I guess as ADH is a nightclub it was included.

He also bought certain - props - which again some people hate but we loved.

We also have a visit by Mickey and Minnie and he introduced them and played all special music while they were there - which you can do with an ipod also - just set up special music and put it on when they get there.

We did not want one of our guests to be responsible for the playing of music -and we really felt having a DJ made the day flow and we did not have to worry about anything.
