We are booked 1 night at the Contemporary in a Garden View room, I know - our first night there so we can walk to MK that afternoon for evening EMH and then the next day at MK (then we move over to BWI)...what building/room should I request for the "shortest" hike back after a night at MK? Thanks in advance!:worship:

You don't have to request a building.

If you booked Garden Wing, you will be in the Garden Wing building. If you booked a standard room, you will be in the Tower.

That's it at CR. You have Garden Wing - bookable category. You have Tower - bookable category.

That is kinda short sighted. While true, but there are a few connected wings that make up the Garden Wing Building. Being all the way to the East side will yield a longer walk than for example the building by the parking lot. OP was looking to see where in the Garden wing to request.

@flea1267 If you don't care as much about the view (not sure which category within Garden Wing you booked) try not to be in the building with any rooms beginning with 6xxx. After that you can request closest to main lobby. But the walk is not particularly long if you do end up further away.

I'm also booked at CR this weekend, and I faxed in a request to be close to the monorail since my husband had a hip injury last month that landed him in the hospital for a few days. He can get around on his own, but he gets tired and sore after a while. I have never stepped foot in the CR, and I ended up booking a garden wing/garden view. What does that exactly mean? I don't know what the differences are.

There is excellent info in the CR thread that will tell you everything you need to know :-)

This means you will be in the garden wing which is not attached to the main building of the Contemporary. The walk is a little longer to the MK, monorail, food, etc. The garden wing is quieter and we really enjoyed it. There is more walking involved however.

THANK YOU SOOOOOOOO MUCH!!!!! We have a Garden View in the Garden Wing...you knew exactly what I was asking :) We are literally just sleeping there, dropping off the bags headed to MK, then want the shortest walk back from MK to our room that night then the shortest walk back to MK the next morning :) Your advice is invaluable and so much appreciated! Thanks also to everyone's input!

Yes the Garden Wings are farther to walk, but in my opinion the walk is still not as bad as some of the out buildings at say The Grand Floridian or the Polynesian. This is y we love Contemporary, lol, also having practically everything under 1 roof is great as well. We usually stay in the Tower bc its less of a walk but like I said still not as bad as some of the out buildings in GF or the Poly. Our next trip we are planning to stay at the Poly but after that I think we will find ourselves back at Contemporary lol...I loved being able to see the theme park from our room it was so close and the fireworks are amazing!

At CR, there is a Tower where the lobby, restaurants, stores, monorail and many resort rooms are located and a Garden Wing, behind the Tower that has resort rooms. The Garden Wing is the furthest from the resort amenities, including the monorail. With your request, hopefully they will put you in a room closest to the Tower, but there will still be a walk to get to the Tower. You will then have to get to the fourth floor either by escalator (recommended) or elevator (takes FOREVER to get one) to access the monorail.
