Calling all Chicago DISers #3

You are right Kim. Waste. I never knew who to blame the insurance company or the hospitals and doctors. All I know is the doctor and hospitals charge more than what we could make together in a years time or more. For one day in ICU it would of taken me numerous years to pay off my DH's one day bill for what I can make. Scary. :scared1:

Oldest DD called to tell me that she just ended up in the ER due to 3 cysts on her ovaries. One of them burst. She is on meds to take care of it. They were tested and are benign.

Yesterday my books were in the mail sent back from Harlequin so that "dream" was dashed apart. So far 2010 isn't all that great. Oh well. I know in my heart that one of them is good. I am very proud of it. They said their books is centered strictly around the hero and heroine from beginning to end. I am involving too many other people and their experiences in the book. :confused3

Back to finding an agent, someone to represent me once the dust settles and I know the house is up for sale. My dad's brother in law who works for a big publishing company claims it is worth publishing and that it is really good so I have to keep up my faith in myself that I have talent. Hurts though to have your dreams squished when you are at your lowest.

Sure hope you all are doing well and happy. Enjoy your weekend everyone!

Hey everyone. Busy times? Not much action on here. I've been pretty busy myself, kind of. School has been a little insane because I've been missing a lot of days. So I was playing a lot of catch up in school. Let's see. Oh! I am officially attending the Art Institute of Boston next year. :) Sending in my deposit for tuition and housing tomorrow! My school sent out the information for prom too. Tickets are $82 plus $35 for post prom. And a dress, and I'm pretty sure I can't afford to go. I didn't really want to go anyway (too much work/drama to figure out a group and the like). I was supposed to drive to New Jersey with a friend from another school for a concert series that weekend but my parents weren't too into the idea of two 18 year old girls driving 26 hours. Hahah So I think I might just work through the weekend or see if I can stay with my cousin in the city. Something else so I'm not around here that weekend...
Hope everything is going well with everyone!

Kim-I hope your mom is doing better!

Kim-I hope your mom is doing better!
You are such a sweetie! Thanks!

May I make a personal suggestion tho - don't skip your prom. It may seem whatever it seems to you - too much drama, too much effort, too much money, but in the end, you will have fun. I never wanted to attend either, but I enjoyed myself anyway. You only get a Sr year HS prom once! DO IT! JMHO :goodvibes

Mom was released from one hospital Sat., and admitted to another on Sunday. And, there she is doing some repeat tests, and some new ones. Heard of the camera-pill? She's taking that on Friday to see what IT will see. It stopped being funny, and it's just UNbelievable now! :sad2:

Good Morning Gang! :flower3: I've been a busy busy bee lately. we are 31 days from the wedding day, 28 days til we leave:scared1: and i still have LOADS to do! I was down for the count this past weekend with a nasty sinus infection, stayed home from work on Monday b/c i was getting migrains. feeling somewhat better now. apparently antibiotics actually DO work. We are scheduled to close on the condo Monday March 29 so hopefully that all goes ok. I'm still to nervous something is bound to go wrong with it. :sad2: Sooooo yeah, that's that.

Kim ~ continued prayers for your mom.

Stitch ~ hope you are doing all right these days. Sorry to hear about your book. hope your oldest DD feels better soon. that happened to my sister a few years back.

Chell ~ I agree with Kim. Don't skip your prom. I HATED high school, graduated a year early b/c I hated it so much. I didn't want to go to prom either and my mom had talked me into it. i originally asked mike (who I am now marrying) and he said no. so my good friend dave, who was a year older and didn't even go to the same school as me, offered to take me as a friend. we went with my then bff and her date just the four of us. nothing too fancy. didn't make a weekend out of it. just went to the dance and had fun. so even if you just go with some friends. do it. :goodvibes

Hi gang! I can't believe I haven't been hanging around dis too much. Just too busy at work and with life.

Chell - Go to prom! I have to agree with Kim and DisneyGal. Even if you just go with friends, you will have memories to last a lifetime. Congrats on your decision on your school!

DG - Good luck on the condo closing! Good luck with the final wedding preparations. We can't hardly wait to see your wedding pics!

Kim - Hope your mom is feeling better and the docs can get to the bottom of what is wrong.

Hi to everyone else!

Lori

hello everyone! Hope you are all out enjoying this nice day! Came in for a water and headed back out for more yard clean-up. The sun in gorgeous!! DG I cannot believe how close your wedding day is!!! Please be sure to share pics and TR with us once you return and settle in.
Stitch, hope all is going OK at your home these days.
Kim, sure hope you get some answers to your questions soon. It's the not knowing that is so hard to take sometimes. At least once you know the problem, you have the chance to work to fix it.
Took DD to see Alice last weekend. We loved it. And had fun finding the hidden mickeys in the movie, too.
Chell, I guess the old prom is sort of a right of passage. Don't make it out to be a big deal. Get a nice dress and just go have some fun. My fondest memories weren't the prom itself, but the fun I had with my friends.
Well, guess I'd better head back outside. Have a nice day all!!!!

Looks like I'm not the only one that's been MIA from here lately.

Chopped my hair off!! And colored it blonde....trying to hide all the grey hair I have. And I have a LOT!!! UGH! :headache: Can't go dark colors any more as the gray shows up too quickly. What a pain!!! DD freaked when she saw me though. She's never seen me THIS blonde. I haven't been THIS blonde since the 80's!!! LOL!! :rotfl:

DH took his dad to a neurologist this week. The doctor diagnosed him with mid-level stages of Alzheimer's disease. We knew this already, but we needed a specialist to diagnose him so the doctor could pull his driver's license. Which they will be doing right away, thank goodness.

Kim I'm hoping and praying for the best for your mom.

chell Go to prom! Forget the drama! You won't have to deal with all those nuts for very much longer. And you don't want to regret not going when you're older and wondering why you let all that poop of high school bs get to you. :thumbsup2

disneygal You must be sooooo excited!!!!!!! :cool1:

Tigg We really want to go see Alice!!! We've been too busy with house showings here though. Grr!

Gotta run!! Lots to do before we pick up the kids today.
We got free tickets to one of the big family-orientated magic shows on the Strip through the Girl Scouts and the show is at 4pm today!! Can't wait!!! :goodvibes

Hi guys! Wow, can't believe it's Thursday already!! Volunteered at the girls' school yesterday for hot lunch, it was crazy but fun. DD8 has her first dance competition Saturday. DD13 is busy with the play at school, next week is he** week and performances next weekend. Then we're off to HHI for a wonderful week.

Thanks for all who suggested things for our hostess gift. We're going to send them a Lou Malnati's pizza and Eli's Cheesecake combo pack.

Bunchkin - I went really short this week too! I hear ya on the grey hair though - yikes!!
*Sorry to hear about DFIL but glad that it will result in him not driving anymore, much safer for him and a relief for you guys.
**Have fun at the magic show!

Tiggerrn - loving the weather but it is no where near the 68 they were forecasting. The clouds seem to bre breaking up a bit so maybe it'll warm up more this afternoon.

momto1 - are you packing yet? We leave in 10 days and I think I might start this weekend.

disneygal - glad you're feeling better, keep trying to get rest so it doesn't drag on.
*best of luck with the closing, fingers crossed for you!
**can't believe the wedding is so close, can't wait to see/hear all about it when you get back.

Kim - hopefully the camera will discover something, it is amazing what they can do these days! Will keep your mom in my prayers too.

MJ - congrats on the art school!! How exciting!
*Wow, I had no idea proms were so expensive! Think long and hard though about skipping it, the memories will last a lifetime!

Stitchfans - so sorry about the books. I just read book called The Wednesday Sisters, it was fiction but it was about a group of women in the 60s trying to become published writers - great read!
*Hope your DD is feeling better and that things are going well for your family.

:wave2: to everyone else!!

Well, it's time for school pick-up and the run to/from dance. Have a great night all! :flower3:

I feel like I'm in a Twilight Zone episode, weren't we just wearing t-shirts and no coats yesterday?! :sad2: I'm not a fan of the weather change to say the least!

DD8 had her dance comp today, it was interesting and lots of fun. They did great. Their dance scored Platinum and won 1st overall in her age category so they were thrilled. DD is now even more hooked, much to DHs dismay. :rotfl:

Hope you're all warm and dry and enjoying your spring weekend. ;)

Have a great night all!! :flower3:

Good evening/very early morning everyone! :flower3: It's so weird... I never post this late but I just got back from my Bachelorette party and don't want to go to bed with a belly full of food and alcohol... ya know? It was a lot of fun! my sisters and friends went above and beyond again (in a tame, conservative way) I was pretty nervous b/c I don't like being the center of attention but it was a lot of fun. :)

ID ~ congrats to DD. I can imagine a nice placing like that would definitely form a slight addicition for me too!

Bunchy ~ sorry to hear about Dh's dad.

Tig, Bunchy, Momto1, ID ~ I will definitely be sharing pics and a TR with you ladies. You are my friends!! :goodvibes

Everyone~ hope you all are doing well. :flower3:

Hi gang -

Bunchkin and ID - I am in the same boat with gray hair. I am going a shade blonder next time I color. It has only be 3 weeks and the gray temples are starting to show.

ID - Since we are driving, the non perishable foods are packed. The backpack for the parks is ready. The luggage is in the Living Room and not packed! I better get busy! Are you ready!

DG - I am so glad you enjoyed your bachelorette party. The big day is getting so close.

Hope everyone is having a good Monday!

Hi everyone,
Just a quick drop in to say hello! Been busy trying to fix up the bathroom. Took the old ugly wall paper off. Ceiling is being fixed. Still searching for a vanity/sink. So expensive. Can not believe how the smallest remodeling items are racking up the costs.:headache:

Leaving this Monday to check out the area of Carrier Mills. My cousin seems just as excited as we are about us visiting and moving there. Her DH can't wait for us to move so he can have a new "buddy". He is looking forward to having DH around to go fishing, shoot pool, so on. "manly stuff"

Even though I love to fish I was told it was "boys only" my cousin Trudy told me us girls will go shopping. Even if I have to sneak a trip in by myself I will get some fishing in there.

Trudy already found some lovely homes for us to look at. There is one in particular that all three of us has already fallen in love with after seeing pictures of it. Sure hope it is still available when we are ready. If not I guess it was not meant to be.

Hope everyone is having a great day!! Off to get my hair cut I am resembling a shaggy dog right now. Later.

Hi everyone!

Stitch- good luck with the house and move!

So, does anyone know a good way to convince my extended family (all on the east coast) that we should have a reunion at WDW? Right now the other 2 with children want to do a campground or dude ranch type thing. Sounds cool, but my heart yearns for Lake Buena Vista....

Sounds good Susan! :thumbsup2

natash - come on!!! Plead your LBV case!!! :thumbsup2

Hi guys! Happy hump Day!! Wish the sun was shining but just happy all the snow is gone! Just got a call offering me a part-time job at our local library!! I interviewed last week and was really hoping to get it since it was perfect hours and close-by. I'll start right after spring break. :goodvibes

natashag76 - best of luck on the convincing, who wouldn't want to go to WDW?! :rolleyes1

Stitchfans - have a safe trip to Carrier Mills, hope everything works out for you!

disneygal - glad you had fun at your bachelorette party!!

Well, time to drive DD8 to dance and then DD13 to play. Performances start tomorrow! Have a great night all! :flower3:

Good Morning!!

Today I am in Madison, WI on a business trip. First time here. Not quite sure how I like it. The hotel is nice...but I am not impressed with the food here. I am spoiled with the great Chicago food, I guess.

I got here Tuesday Night, and head back today after work. I can't wait to sleep in my own bed tonight!!

Kids start spring break tomorrow. They leave for their dad's tomorrow. A little break for me, I guess. I miss them already:(

I hope everyone is doing well

Have a great day!
