Calling all Chicago DISers #3

Ditto, from me to you and yours! :santa:

Ditto here too! Hoping you all have a very happy and blessed Christmas! :santa:

In spite of my driveway being a sheet of ice all isn't negative. We actually had a Christmas miracle! DD had asked for an Ipod several months ago and naturally since everything was okay I told her to wait until Christmas. Well considering all that has happened and since we are living off our savings account right now I had to take that promise away.

Yesterday I went out to take some clean clothes and such out to the hospital for DH and then ran out to Dominicks since DD requested corned beef for Christmas dinner. Yes there is a reason and story behind that.

Well I got home and noticed two packages on our front porch. After unloading the groceries into the house I brought them in. I recognized one of the packages as something I had ordered for her for Christmas but the other one I did not. Since it had her name on it and not mine I let her open it.

It was an IPod!!:dance3: Several months ago I had entered her name into a contest through Seventeen magazine for an IPod. Forgot all about it. Well she was 1 of the 15 people who's name was drawn!!:yay::banana:

The look on her face was priceless!! No it will not take the place of her dad not being home for Christmas but it sure kind of brightened her Christmas up. I dug out a tiny tree we had in the garage and put it out. I have our corned beef ready to be boiled. Some presents for her to open. All will be okay.

I have faith soon my DH will be well enough to come home and stay home. I have faith soon the ice will melt so we can go see him tomorrow for Christmas. I have faith my crying will stop in the near future. I am living on faith in God. (sure hope that does not get me some points- if so- so what)

Everyone have a great and very Merry Christmas and enjoy your family members big time!!!

MERRY CHRISTMAS CHICAGOLAND!!

Happy Christmas everyone!

Wishing everyone and their families a safe and happy Christmas!

Stich That is a great surprise your daughter recieved.:thumbsup2 I hope the two of you have a happy day. Things will get better. It takes awhile for the medicine to even him out. Use the family time during the therapy. They don't say Mental illness is a family illness for nothing. You and your daughter are adjusting also.

I need to go wake up someone to open presents.:woohoo:

A very Merry Christmas to everyone one here on the Chicago thread. best wishes for all.

And Susan, what a great story, good news.

Hey everyone. How was everyone's Christmas/holidays? Things were good over here. Christmas Eve was nice. I hadn't seen 2 of cousins in a while so to get to talk to them was really nice. My dad made really yummy mashed potatoes. Christmas Day was good as well. Santa was pretty good to me and so was my brother. He actually picked out clothes I'll like and wear this year. He was more on point with gifts than Santa; I should have made a more defined list for Santa. I'm not sure where he got some of the idea for the gifts...:confused3 My mom is keeping 2 of her 3 gifts, a record high. But mostly because 1 couldn't be returned (a photo book with pictures from every year we went to Disney) and 1 my brother and I wanted so we got it for her (Toy Story Mania for Wii which has already been played for hours to the point of injury). My uncle gave me the best gift of all though: all of his "old" photo equipment. I was over the moon. Yep so Christmas was good. Hope everyone and their families had a really enjoyable Christmas too!

More snow to shovel. DD and I shoveled ourselves out yesterday so that we could get to the hospital to see DH. Can't do it today. Too tired and worn out. Will eventually get it cleared away but not in time for visiting hours they have posted. Since he is not doing well I talked him into ECT. I pray I made the right decision. It is scheduled for Wednesday. Nothing else seems to be helping. That idiot doctor seemed to put him over the edge.

From what they told me it will be 6 to 12 treatments which most likely will mean at the least two more weeks in the hospital. I am now doubting my own decisions. Have to get back into a "good" place. Need to get out to that snow. Thank God for DD. She has been such a great support and a great young lady breaking her back with me with all this snow. When I am at my lowest she is always there with a hug for me.

Hi gang! A belated Merry Christmas and an early Happy New Year to everyone!

We've had 3 full days of festivities. Christmas Eve was at my DSIL house. She always hosts a nice meal. Christmas Day we hosted 18 people at our house. It is cozy but fun. Yesterday we hosted 13 for my husband's annual Cousins Party. It is always fun just to get caught up.

Today - restoring my house to peace and order. I might try to hit some sales -Bath and Body Works mostly.

Susan - You, your dd and dh are in my prayers. What a nice surprise for your daughter!

Take care everyone. Be safe!
Lori

Hi guys! Hope you all had a nice holiday. Went to MILs on the Eve after church, a little depressing without FIL but better than I expected actually. Santa was very good to the kids ;) they seem to be happy with everything. Had my family (15 peopoe) over on Christmas night for dessert and more presents.

Stitchfans - great news on the iPod for your DD, what a nice surprise and very much deserved. Don't worry about the snow, it will wait until you're ready. Continued prayers being sent for you, your DD and DH.

MJ - what a great gift from your uncle!

momto1 - wow, sounds like you've been busy with guests. Hope you'll have a chance to get some rest in the coming days.

Well, the kids have gift cards burning a hole in their pockets and are antsy to get out and spend them. DH is heading to GameStop with the two younger ones, lucky me I'm taking DD12 to Aeropostle and Claire's. Gotta run, have a great day all!! :santa: (not done with Christmas yet!)
