Calling all Chicago DISers #3

Thanks for all your responses about Stephanie :)
She went to work with me, and relaxed all day, which is good.
She is much better, and never had another stomach episode - thank goodness!!!!
I don't know what was wrong, but I do know she wasn't faking it, I definitly know that. She was shaking, and was in a terrible way - it wasn't good :sad2:
All I know is that I'm glad she's better, and going back to school today :teacher:

DG - What great news!!!!! :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:
You'll have to post some pictures for us to see.

Bunchkin - Now that you mention about over-eating for the holiday - I wonder if that was Stephanie's problem. On Saturday night, she had a stomachache, but not as bad - I told her it was from a weird mixture of food she ate. Then Sunday afternoon, her stomach was making a really weird gurgling noise, that was pretty loud. At that time her stomach wasn't hurting, and then it was that night/morning that she woke up with the stomachache. The whole thing was pretty weird, and I bet you are right!!

momto1 - Gotta love leftovers!!!:goodvibes

Donna - Did you get to see your boys this Thanksgiving? How is your son's girlfriend that was in the terrible car accident last year? Is she all better now?

HERSEY - :wave2:

ID - Yes, today is my busy day - I really don't like Tuesdays :sad2:
**I'm glad your mom is recovering, and I'll pray that she's back to her total normal self soon:wizard:

Stitchfans -

Well, time to go get ready for my Leads Group - not in the mood today :sad2:
Have a good day today everyone!!

Good Morning Everyone! :flower3: So I forgot to mention yesterday that i have almost all my Christmas shopping done. Just Mike and his sister left to buy for (oh and two small additional gifts for my nephews). Sunday morning, dad and i went to the mall to pick up his new microwave he ordered. ours has been on the fritz for several weeks now so he wanted to get one before ours went completely out. anywho, the mall was still fairly quiet so we decided to go see if we could find anything. we went to eddie bauer and i found something for everyone! Also, they had an extra 25% off everything, even sale items, so i got a lot of great deals! I'm excited. this is the first time i've ever been this ahead of the game. every year i try to get done early and still end up shopping on xmas eve.

also, thank you everyone for the congrats on the condo. the inspection is tonight, i'm nervous but really excited also.

slo ~ glad stephanie is feeling better! :thumbsup2

ID ~ hope your mom starts doing better soon. good luck with the therapy.:wizard:

Bunch ~ i know i couldn't believe it has a 2.5 car garage. that was what REALLY sold it to us. storage was a big factor for me... i have a lot of useless stuff i just can't get rid of... and it's in a really nice area, not too busy with a park right across the street.

Stitch ~

momto1, hersey, donna, leigh, tigg, paint, dan, and everyone else ~ :wave2: hope everyone is well!

Wednesday already?!?! Where do the days go?????????

The gift that I wanted to buy Katie online, which is gone everywhere, is at Toys R Us, so I'm going to drive out there before work :car: I asked them if I could buy it over the phone, and then pick it up, but they wouldn't do that for me :guilty: So, I'm really hoping it's there when I get there {{fingers crossed}}. Oh...the item is a Dora the Explorer flip open sofa. She loves the Princess one she has for the office at work, and this one would be for the playroom at home. They are perfect for laying on while watching tv:) So, with getting this, Katie gets a tiny couch, and Stephanie is getting a pink lounge chair for her room. :thumbsup2

DG - That's great about getting your shopping almost done. I still have about 1/2 to do:santa:
*Thanks about Stephanie - she's back to her normal self :)

I'm off and running, so I can go get that gift.
Have a great day today!!!!

Morning all. First, let me excuse my absence. I've been lurking but not posting. Sorry. Just trying to maximize my time. The less I spend here, the more I get done. My decorations are up, my shopping is half done, I have spent some wonderful time lounging with my kids watching movies and playing games. Fun home movie review: Aliens in the Attic. I didn't really think it would be that good. Ashley Tisdale is in it. But the kids loved it-laughed out loud. I had more fun watching them watch the movie.

Stitch, so sorry to hear of your DH situation. I hope he now can get the hope and rest he needs and learn some new coping strategies for life. Some people just don't know how to manage stressors well, and the holiday season (for whatever reason) just compounds their inability to cope. Please know we all our keeping your family in our thoughts and prayers and that you can always come to us for support. Remember to take some time for yourself during this time-breathe, count to 10, smile at the good things, and know this time will pass. And ask for help when you need it.

Slo and Bunchkin, glad to hear Steph and Hunter are improved and back to school.
Slo, I hope you get your item. I was afraid you were going to say you were chasing a Zhu Zhu pet.:laughing:I heard the lady at TRU yesterday saying people were lined up outside the store hoping a truck had brought some in, only to be disappointed when they got in the store.

Paint, good luck with finals and time to get packing!!!!:yay:Be sure to post some holiday pix here when you get back.

Hi BigV, Rose and Dan M. Long time no hear from you here. Stop in more often.

DG, congrats on the condo. We'll be waiting to see the pix.:goodvibes

Mac, thanks as always for the listings. I am so sorry I missed the Sunday one! Hopefully I will catch it on a repeat. I love watching those "how they do that" shows. On You Tube, they have one that shows the cranes come in at night and all the workers in the park getting everything up overnight. So neat.

ID, much support for you and your mom in this difficult time. I do hope she cooperates with her rehab. That really sets the tone for recovery. It takes a large amount of patience from everyone. Slow progress. But so worth it in the end.

Hersey, Donna, momto1, geffric, KimRaye, Becky, and anyone I missed, have a great week. Good luck to everyone on their Christmas shopping.
Time for me to move on to the housework-bathrooms and laundry day today. And I might try to run out quickly for some more shopping-Borders and Toys R Us. I need Tink and Terrance having a Tea Party-had it in my hand a week ago, didn't want to wait in line for 1 item-need I say more?! DRAT!!

Good Morning Everyone! :flower3: The home inspection went extremely well! :worship: Only a couple of minor things that mike and i could fix ourselves if the sellers won't. We do need to reconsider our bathroom set we registered for. This bathroom has a pink-ish peachy color in the tile and wallpaper and the set we registered for is brown and blue... probably wont go too well but oh well

Slo ~ Hopefully you'll get to Toys R Us in time to get Katie's gift. Did they put it on hold for you?

Tigg ~ Glad to hear you've been able to spend some time lounging with the kiddos. It sounds like you have been quite productive lately.:thumbsup2

everyone else ~ :wave2: have a wonderful day!

Hey Geffric! :wave2: I took lots of pics when we were there for the inspection yesterday! However, I have not had time to upload them yet:laughing: soooo.. hopefully tonight or tomorrow i'll get that done.

Hi gang! Just a quick check in. I am leaving for the airport in 20 minutes heading to Raleigh-Durham, NC for work. My son really thinks I am going to the college basketball thingy but I am not. It looks like the flight is going to be BUMPY today with the weather across the rest of the midwest and east.

Slo - Hopefully you were succesful at TRU this morning!

DG - Good news the condo inspection. Yea, you might want to change your bathroom towels colors.

Geffric - Have fun in WDW! I really want to ge there to see the holiday decoration sometime.

Hi to all. I will check in with you on Monday!
Lori

Thank you everyone for your support and prayers. I have been busy trying to keep up with everything I need to do. Sure is hard concentrating with a none stop thumping headache. I somewhat have my crying under control though. Today I have to meet with a social worker. Not sure what for and what we are going to talk about.

Not sure if I mentioned this, but DD and I went to visit him for our hour visit the other night. It went somewhat well, except for the hospital's staff's attitude of herding us around like cattle and one guy actually barking orders at us and yelling at us. The lack of compassion is really bad. I feel like I have no support, no say, no nothing there. I feel like I am on display and if I say or do anything wrong against their disliking we will be punished. Never in my life have I ever felt this paranoid, or helpless. I do not like this feeling. One person even said I was arrogant because I was demanding some answers. What has this world come to? :sad2:

If it wasn't for you all with your love, support, and compassion I don't think I could cope. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Susan ~ Continued hugs for you. There should be a patient's advocate nurse that you can talk to about the attitude you are getting. It is wrong of them, and not helpful to healing at all.

What happened to November?? Anyone?? :confused3
This year has just flown past.

I helped out in DS's class yesterday, as ususal. I found out I'm the teachers only volunteer left. Needless to say, I was there for almost 4 hours.

Susan I agree with Kirsten. You should speak with an advocate. Hugs for you.

slo I see on FB that you didn't get the gift. Bummer!

disneygal I say replace the tile and take down the wallpaper!! Not that hard of a job and you can have it the colors you want! :thumbsup2

Tigg We have been playing games like crazy here lately. It seems to be our thing we do in the fall and winter. :goodvibes
Did Kellie have her performance yet?

Donna I didn't find out about the AG sale till late in the day....that's what I get for ignoring my email for a couple days. I missed out on what DD was eyeing. But that's ok. I have so much AG stuff that I keep stock piled for her!! LOL! I pick it up on sale on their web site or at Sam's Club. I have so much that I can split it between Christmas this year and her birthday next fall and probably next Christmas too.

Off to get a roast going in the crock pot and do laundry.

Have a great day everyone!!! :hippie:

Hi guys! Wow, almost Thursday already!! Where does the time go?! :confused3 This is going to be quick too as I need to get some extra sleep, tomorrow is a busy day (dance, volleyball, teach).

Bunchkin - I'm with you, where has the time gone?
*I did a pork roast in the crock pot last week with cranberries, apples and juice. YUMM! It was great! Doing stew tomorrow.

Stitchfans - continued  and prayers for you. I agree with the others, check into an advocate.

momto1 - hope you have a safe trip to NC, "talk" to you Monday.

geffric - phew, I'm tired just reading your schedule!

disneygal - yea! on the home inspection. I agree with Bunchkin, change the bathroom to colors you want if it's not too much of a job.

Tiggerrn - sounds like you've been very productive and family time is always great!
*My DMom has always been strong willed but it's getting worse as she gets older. She just seems so negative and complains about everything!
**We were chasing a Zhu Zhu pet for DD8 but luckily DH scored a set of 3 from TRU. He subscribed to zoolert.com. Now to find an accessory or two.

slo - don't you hate running around for that elusive "must have" gift? :sad2: Ours was the Zhu Zhu pet for DD8. Hope you find your Dora sofa.

Sorry if I've missed anyone! I'm trying to be in bed by 11p this week and I'm 5min late already so I've got to run. Have a great night all! :santa:

Hi all!! :wave2:

This is a quick shout out, because I don't have alot of time to post. My computer is on the fritz at home, and I have to work to do at work, so I don't have much time.

As some of you know, I was not successful at TRU yesterday:mad::headache:
I didn't realize until this year, how popular Dora the Explorer truly is. Everywhere I go, the Dora items are missing, and the other characters are always there. Kids really love her!!!!!
When I didn't get the Dora couch, I bought a Lightning McQueen one for a backup. I'm hoping and praying that I find the Dora couch, so I can return the CARS one. So, if anyone sees a Dora the Explorer flip open sofa, please let me know - I would really appreciate it!!!!!

On a positive note - JoAnn Fabrics has been awesome to me about getting a gift for STephanie. They were out of a Crystal Embellishing Kit, and when they got it in, they held it for me - that was very nice of them. So I went this morning and got it, along with accessories for it, and they even let me use (2) 50% off coupons and (2) 40% off coupons - that was awesome!!! Stephanie will be thrilled :yay:, because I'm sure she thought I forgot that she wanted this :upsidedow

Now I must get to work - I have alot to get done before my employee comes in.

Stitchfans - My prayers continue to still be with you and your family   If your DD would ever like to come her and post her thoughts and feelings we'll be here for her too:hug:. She may also find comfort in posting on the teen board, because there may be other teens there that have gone through a similiar situation, and they can help give her advice and comfort. Take care of yourself, and God Bless!!!!

Gotta run - have a good day everyone!!!

What happened to November?? Anyone?? :confused3
This year has just flown past.
 Kelly's 12th BD is Tuesday! I still can't believe it's December already! I have some BD gift wrapping to do, but my nephew is 1st, his BD is Sunday with a party Sat. night. BDs in Dec kinda stink. :sad1: Eventually, people stop one gift or the other because it's too much, but if my kids had a BD in June, they wouldn't have been among the 'forgotten'. :sad2: Matt's BD is 12/31. :upsidedow Trust me, I didn't PLAN 2 December BDs anymore than my cousin did (with 2 kids), my brother with 1, and my dear departed MIL with 4!!! :scared1:

 all!!

Slo Hopefully you will be able to find that couch let us know how you are doing on your quest. I will be out and about tomorrow so I can keep me eyes open.

Kim October is our big birthday month.

Driving around last night was a little slippery in some spots. Looks like we got a dusting last night again. I love winter. Nicole watch out you could have us on your doorstep.

I better jump in the shower and get moving.

Good Morning Everyone! :flower3: so long story short... we probably won't be getting the condo after all. :sad1: the listing agent made a BIG mistake and is refusing to admit it. I won't go on with details but we are disappointed but there are plenty of other places out there. we just really liked this area and that darn 2.5 car garage. oh well, wasn't meant to be:sad2:

Slo ~ hope you were able to get that couch!

Stitch ~ continued  and prayers being sent your way.

DG ~ What are you looking for in a place? My neighbors have theirs listed, but it is only a one car garage.

Slo ~ Hope the TRU came through for you.

Kim ~ My childhood BFF was born on Christmas Day. There were plenty of times that she only got one gift, and she always felt it was unfair. My nephew is born on the 21st, and his dad's side of the family tries to pull the same thing.

Tonight at DS's school they are having 'Cookies with Santa'. Cookie decorating, crafts, music and pictures with the big guy.

Kim 2 kids with b-days in Dec. Youch! ;)
Lots of b-day in Dec for us too. Mine, FIL's, friends, other family, and it was also my step dad's birthday month.

disneygal Sorry to hear about all the condo trouble. :guilty: I hope there is something else out there that you can find soon. :goodvibes

hersey It was 49-50 here today. And sunny. Lows in the 30's. Come on out! :thumbsup2

Kim October is our big birthday month.
That is our 2nd biggest month, with DB, me, and DN, in that order. ;)

Good Morning Everyone! :flower3: so long story short... we probably won't be getting the condo after all. :sad1: the listing agent made a BIG mistake and is refusing to admit it.
Did you have an attorney during this process? Do you have one yet? I work for one. Sometimes, deals can be saved with the right attorney. ;) Fingers crossed you find another place, and another agent. :sad2:

STINKS!! :sad2:

Kim 2 kids with b-days in Dec. Youch! ;)
I know. I didn't PLAN it tho. :confused3 ;)

Nephew's BD gift is packed/wrapped and then I move on to Kelly's. After that, I have to switch to Cmas and all the teacher gifts! :scared1: Last day of school is the 18th, so I better get moving! ;)

Ahhh, teacher gifts!
We always do gift cards and have had teachers tell us that they love getting them! Always appreciated. :goodvibes
