Calling all Chicago DISers #3

GRRRR... so our Realtor called the listing agent on the place we like to tell her we were very interested and about to make an offer. She told him she just received another contract a couple days ago and hasn't had time to change the MLS to Contingent yet. So now we can't put an offer on the place. Bob (the realtor) was pretty annoyed with her b/c we were there just YESTERDAY!!!! He had to call her to set up the appointment. Why didn't she tell him then???? So now we are back to square one. We are very bummed. :sad1: This was the one place that mike, myself and all our parents really liked!!! grrrrrrrr....

 I am convinced all things happen for a reason.

Tigggg I love fungus;) I fell in love with that fillet. They can make it without the fungus you know.

Our halloween party was fun thanks all for asking. We didn't have as many trick or treaters this year. Hardly any teenagers. Mostly very little kids age 6 and under.

Hi everyone!

Warm here still. It was at about 80-81 here today.
The scavenger hunt was fun. The kids got a lot of candy and coupons for the different stores in the shopping center that the hunt was at.
Not too many TOT though. We are NOT used to that's for sure. I usually run out every year and go hunting in the pantry for other goodies. Not this year. Lots of candy left over.

Went to breakfast this morning with the kids since they didn't have school, it was a district day off here. Then did some shopping at Target and at Justice for clothes for DD.

I cannot believe all the Christmas stuff that is out already, and it's been out for a while now here. :sad2:

My mom was supposed to come out here for a visit during the Thanksgiving holiday, but she's not now. She's doing a lot of remodeling at her house and it could last a while. She now wants to come during Christmas.

slo Your Halloween sounds like it was a lot of fun. I hope the fair brings a lot of interest into your store! :thumbsup2

hersey What kind of yummy food did you bring to the Halloween party? You're such a good cook!!!!!!!! ::yes::

mac Thanks for the listings! And the church goin'!

disneygal Don't fret too much over not getting your first choice. Maybe something unexpected and better will come to light now!!!! :thumbsup2

stitchfans Good to hear your DD's friends were, for a lack of a better word, friendly!!! ;) I wonder what happened to that dad though?

Tiggerrn I love your pics, especially the POR ones!!! I love that place.

Hi guys! DD12 had a lot of fun at her Halloween dance, I was surprised to see the girls in very appropriate costumes. Not an easy feat I know! Trick or treat was fun too, the kids got a TON of candy. The weather yesterday was absolutely beautiful. We got a lot of outside work done, 6 bags of leaves and all the outside stuff put away and the Halloween lights taken down. We also did 4 bags of leaves at my MILs and dinner there. Today was inside cleaning day.

Bunchkin - I can't believe the number of "holiday" commercials that started yesterday. I guess at least they waited for Halloween to end. :rolleyes1

disneygal - what a bummer on the condo, shame on that other realtor. :sad2: She should have said something to your realtor before he took you there yesterday. Maybe something better will come along.....
*I just had my ring in at the jeweler too, it looks like brand new!

Tiggerrn - sounds like a nice Epcot day, it looked like such a nice day.

Stitchfan - DD12 went with friends and I sent her with a cell phone just in case she "got separated" (a.k.a. ditched) from her friends. Luckily DD didn't get ditched either and had a great time!

slo - sounds like a super fun Halloween, wish we had neighbors like you!
*Best of luck at the fair on Wednesday, sounds great.
**I got DD12 a pair of shoes with that Payless coupon, the store was empty but it was during school. It probably got busy at night.

mac - thanks for the listings! How are you feeling since your parking lot accident?

Hersey - thanks for the luch support. DS does get a morning snack break so he does bring something.

KimRaye - thanks for the support on my other thread!

Well, DS is waiting to start DWTS so I've got to run! Supposed to be chilly tomorrow I think, brrr. Have a great one everyone! :flower3:

Kim ~ you could always claim that the TSM wii game is an EARLY Christmas gift!!;)
Trouble is, the System is also a Cmas gift!

Kim, if you very carefully take the wrap off TSM Wii, you can play while noone is home, get really good, and then wrap it back and put it back under the tree.:rolleyes1
Again, the whole Wii system is a Cmas gift. I'd have to get really good at wires, and hiding, and .....

dg, you're in Illinois right? I work for a real estate attorney (have for over 20 years) - if the offer the seller has is Contingent - you can make an offer at ANY time during that period! It's like battling - a counter-offer in your case. :thumbsup2 Tell your agent to MAKE your offer!

KimRaye - thanks for the support on my other thread!

Well, DS is waiting to start DWTS so I've got to run!
:thumbsup2 No prob on support! :thumbsup2 I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE DWTS, too!!! Who does DS want to win??

Hello & {{HUGS}} to everyone else!!! :grouphug:

This is my long day today where I'm gone from 7:10am to 7:45pm.
I found out that my employee can work Tuesday night next symester, so I'm :woohoo::yay:

Mac - :wave2:

Stitchfans - Did you find out what happened to your DD's friend? That's scary about her going to the hospital:eek:. I will keep her in my prayers to get better soon.

DG - I am so sorry about that irresponsible Realtor  I'm sure you'll find another place. A similiar thing happened to us when we were looking for this house, and we found the house we are in instead, and I wouldn't change a thing. Not only do I love this house more, but I wouldn't have my neighbors at the other place. Keep us posted on how everything is going

Tiiigernn - Loving the contined trip report :thumbsup2:)

HERSEY - I agree that everything happens for a reason ::yes:: I so agree!!! ::yes::

Bunchkin - I"m glad the scavenger hunt was fun :)
**Christmas things have been out for awhile here too ::yes:: The Christmas tree at the store is going up in a couple of weeks:eek: I figure, if I can't beat em' join em' (when it comes to other retail stores)
**Thanks for the good luck!!!:goodvibes

ID - Yeah, my neighbors are great!!!!! I thank God for them everyday!!!:goodvibes
**Thanks for the good luck!!!:goodvibes

Kim - :wave2:

Well, I gotta go get ready for my Leads Group - have a great day today!!

Morning..

well one of the ladies at Meals on Wheels has been sick and over the weekend, she when to the hospital.. she is having a miss.:sad1:I am so sorry for her to loose the baby..:guilty: but they called me at 9 am yesterday and asked if I could work.. so I'll be there for at least a week full time as there are only 2 of us - me and the director.

Sunday, I was driving Eric to pole vaulting in Naperville and the car started to shake and shake bad.. so I took the car in yesterday morning and it needs about $2 K worth of fixing.. and the Honda is only worth $2500.. so.. after Meals on Wheels today, I am getting the title and looking at replacing it.. I anm sad because i wanted to keep the car another 2 years while eric was home and driving.. but since it needs brakes, struts, tires, timing belt and water pump and more.. i'll get a new(ish) car.. ..

going to see Geoff for parents weekend and will take the bus.. 8 hours one way.. but i can't drive the Honda and he has my van.. so.. i'll leave at 6 am to get to the bus at 6:40 and then it leaves at 7 am and arrives at Iowa City at 2:45 pm.. and I'll wait until he is out of class at 3 pm and comes and gets me..

SLO - wish I leaved near you and could help you..

hi to all..

Friday, Day 5
Figure I might as well just put this to rest this morning.
Friends were trying to sleep in this morning, but housekeeping knocked early. I was up and showered and packing up. We figured we would relax til 11 then head to the pool for a bit and just hang out til the ME came at 1. We actually were all packed and headed out around 10:30 and dropped off our luggage so we could wander. Two of us hung out here

[/IMG]
while the other one dozed in the shade in some chairs.
Around 12 we headed into the FoodCourt and used our final:sad1:counter service meal for lunch and then we shopped to spend our final snacks and pick up last minute items in Fulton's General Store in our resort. That is the nicest little resort store I think I've seen. They have everything in there. So much more than the Beach Club or AKL had.
By then it was close to 1 so we headed out to wait for the ME bus. One of those pulled in and out while we were there. I got concerned but the luggage guy said it was not the 1 o'clock bus.:confused3
Next, a DCL bus pulled up. People were loading. But had we not asked, we would've thought it was for the cruiseline. Turns out, this was the 1PM ME to the airport.:sad1:
We were off. Watching the departing video, taking our final monorail to the airport. I didn't even stop in the Earport this year.:eek:We just headed straight off to our gate.
Flight was uneventful. The kids were thrilled to see us all when we got home and of course, were digging in the bag to see what we brought them home.

Final thoughts:
We had a great time. It was really nice to have an adult only experience and get to enjoy the restaraunts and F/W. But I have to say, I missed the excitement the kids bring to Disney. Mine are always laughing and talking louder and louder and rushing off to the next best thing. It was nice to sit on a bench and take it all in, but being a park comando, I like the rushing, too.
The saddest thing about returning home this time, is the not knowing when I will be going back. DH really wants to do something different.
So that's it everyone. Thanks for following along. Now it's all back to the real world.

Guess I'll take down the Halloween decor today and clean some windows. I am so glad the sun is out. Too chilly for me, though.
Bunchkin, please forward some of your heat this way.
Kim, I get it now. I didn't realize the whole thing was for Christmas. You will have fun with it.
Slo, I envy your great neighbors. Sure wish we had some of those here. Kids really don't have anyone to play with. Everyone on this street just sticks to themselves. No trouble, just no neighborliness.
Hersey, NOW you tell me. I would have LOVED the fillet.
DG, put the offer in! That's the risk someone bidding on contingency faces. Good luck!!

TTTiiigggeeerrrrrrrnnnnnnnn, problem solved about your next trip.

pencil sept 30 on your calendar.
go with me and the other homies here next year.. :teeth:

Good morning! Been so busy here! Went to a library conference last weekend in Springfield. It was fun! Got to learn about lots of new books and authors, had a great dinner, and spent the night in a hotel. Like a mini-vacation! Then we went T or Ting. DS was hardcore, wanting to stay out the whole 3 hours, but dd pooped out half way through. Sunday I tried to be productive, reading/homework! Then, yesterday, my mom came down and we assembled two bookcases and a loft bed for ds (he has the smallest room and it is filled with legos!). Today, I have class!
Gotta' run! I have a presentation in my first class!

Morning everyone. Sunshine! AAAHHHH! Love it!!! Have to get to the grocery store today since I didn't over the weekend. Ugh, I hate grocery shopping. Instead I wrapped Christmas presents. I am finished with it except for my daughters and hubby. For my aunt since she is a shut in I decided I'd order her, her favorite chocolates, and biscuits that she loves so much from an Irish shop I found. This place is great. Has tons of food, etc from Ireland, but is actually in New York.

SLO- It was DD's friend's dad who ended up needing to be rushed to hospital. I asked DD if she heard anything and she said no.

Hersey- Yes I am a firm believer that everything happens for a reason.

Bunchkin- :laughing:like I said I don't know about the dad. will have to ask again. chances are we will never know since kids seldom talk about their parents except to complain about them.

ID- it is scary and really makes me worry thinking about whether DD will be ditched. So it happens to your DD too? :sad2: Yeah, thank goodness for cell phones. Don't know why some girls have to be so mean, and uncaring.:confused3:sad2: Don't even want to think about yard work. Ours looks like a real mess. I guess I will have to get out sometime. :headache:

Tiggern- loving the pictures.:thumbsup2

AAAHHH! Hope I didn't miss anyone. I am not good at this. I get so overwhelmed trying to keep up with everyone. Guess that is another reason why I stopped coming around. Sorry. :guilty: really trying. Hope everyone has a great day!!

Stich Don't be so concerned with trying to keep up. I have trouble too.;)

Bunchy I made candy coated popcorn, baked beans with bacon, and some appetizers. nothing fancy.

ID No need to thank for the support. That is what friends do.

Ok I had other things to say but I got sidetracked and I forgot. :confused3
Maybe I'll remember :rolleyes1

 to all who need them. Stay healthy

Today is the bridal fair :upsidedow:)
I am really nervous, and I don't know why
I guess I want to make such a good impression, that I want to make sure everything is perfect
Luckily, I have friends next to me (photographers) that will help me set up, and then after Kevin is done at work, he'll come help me in the evening.
It should be an interesting night!!!!!

Speaking of Kevin working - he's been unemployeed since March 30th, and he's back to work :woohoo::yay: He's doing exactly what he loves to do, and it's for a company sorta close to home (approx 1/2 hour away). We are hoping and praying that this economy treats this job much better than it treated the old job :wizard:

geffric - My friend just had a miscarriage to this past weekend - so sad:guilty:
**I'm sorry to hear about the van - those unexpected expenses always make me sick :guilty:
**Thanks - I wish we lived closer together too :goodvibes

TTtiiigerrnn - Thanks again for the great trip report :) I have no idea when we will be back either, which is sad:guilty: We are thinking about saving our money for the new Disney Ship that launches in 2011, so any vacations we do, will be much less expensive long weekends to different places. When I need my WDW fix I go on YouTube and watch the videos people took when on the rides. It's not the same, but at least I can stay in touch with my favorite place :teeth:

Mac - :wave2:

Paint - Wow, you're really busy :faint: I hope your presentation went well :wizard:

Stitchfans - Everyone has their own style of posting, so please don't feel overwhelmed  Just do whatever you have time for - we are just glad you are here!!!!

HERSEY - Candy coated popcorn sounds good:goodvibes How do you do that?

Time to run, and get ready for this L O N G day.
I sure hope I am home by 10pm, because that will be to long if I'm not.

Have a great day today!!

Morning guys! Well, it's Wednesday again already! Pretty much same old same around here. School, work, homework, volleyball, dance, etc, etc. Loved the sun we had the past few days and can't wait for it to return!

slo - hope the fair goes well today! Also hope it's not too long of a day.
*CONGRATS to Kevin , so glad he found a new job! I'm sure that is a huge relief to you.

Hersey - yumm, candy coated popcorn sounds good!

Stitchfan - done with Christmas shopping?!!! Wow, I'm impressed. We have a couple of things picked up and my plan is to get a couple things from each pay period so it's not such a big bill in December but I'm not even close to done.
*Don't worry about keeping up, I get lost sometimes too. I'm happy just reading about what people are up to!

paint - hope the presentation went well!

Tiggerrn - we've taken to just hanging around on our last day too, seemed too rushed trying to fit in park time. Thanks for sharing with us!

geffric - so sad for your friend .
*Ugh, what a bummer about your car. Hope you can find something to replace it that won't cost an arm and a leg.

KimRaye - actually it is DH and I that are watching DWTS. We liked Mark because we're Iron Chef fans so we're bummed he got booted. Kind of stinks since it wasn't his fault his partner got sick. Of course DH likes Joanna Kruppa too. :rolleyes1

Well, today is clean sheets day so I've got to go strip the beds and get my laundry load going. Have a great day everyone (stay warm!). :flower3:

Hey Everyone!

Haven't been around in a long long time. That Facebook thing is addictive! Glad to see a lot of old familiar "screen names". Bunchy, you're killing me with that weather report. You are going to breeze through this winter aren't you?

Congrats to Kevin on his new job! Only a half hour away is a good thing! Slo, you'll do fine at the fair. I'm glad things are looking up for you!

Tiggerrn, I'm going back to read all of your report. If I get to WDW again anytime soon, I think I might stay at PO-Riverside. We visited there on our last trip earlier this October! I liked the "look" of it!

Well, take care everyone! I'll try to stop by more often.

Morning everyone. Late start today since DD had a late start day at school. :)They started at 10. Sometime today I have to make myself sit down and write a query letter to send out to several literary agents. I am so hesitant about this for fear of rejection. I worked so hard on my books and the thought of it all being rejected is hard. Well have to go forward with it and don't look back.
Or like Dory says, "Just keep swimming, just keep swimming."

SLO- Hope you have fun at the Bridal fair, and get loads of business from it. I remember a few years back going to one with oldest DD. Saw some very pretty and awesome things. Got some great ideas for her wedding too. Only hired one though, and that was the caterer. Bad choice, but water under the bridge.

ID- I am the one who loves to pick up items I know people will like throughout the year. So about time Christmas comes rolling around I am finished. For example when we were in Epcot this past March I saw lovely leather bracelets in Canada, and bought one each for my brother's kids. They engrave the person's name on it. Since my brother has a few kid's with uncommon names I thought this is great! :thumbsup2 (for the record- he has two sets of twins. three girls and one boy)

Geffric- You mentioned Naperville. You must not live that far from me. I am so impressed that you do meals on wheels. Tell me more about it. It is volunteer right? I wouldn't mind helping sometimes. I said sometimes because I am a baby about driving in the snow. Plus DD needs to do 10 hours community service for US History. Is there anything a 15 year old can do? My MIL (God rest her soul) had meals on wheels but I never paid that much attention to it.

Well guess I will read a few more posts then move on. Take care everyone and have a great day!

Morning everyone!!

Sunny and a high expected this afternoon of 82!
Can you believe it??
I am actually going through a lack of 'season' depression, meaning I really miss seeing the fall leaves and the chilly air. Fall is my favorite season!! And I totally miss seeing it. I miss going out to Starved Rock Lodge to see the colors and of course to go eat there!!!

Hersey How did you make the popcorn? Share!

slo I'm so happy for Kevin!! Tell him I said congrats and good luck!! :goodvibes
Also, good luck today at the fair! I'm sure you must be bringing a lot of examples with you to show off your good work! :)

Stitchfans Type your letter with positive thoughts!!!! Send it out to everyone! And like others have said, don't worry about keeping up on every single thing. That's impossible!;)

Tigg If I could ship you or email you this weather I would! ::yes::

Sam I cannot believe you're posting here!! :faint: ;);)
It does get chilly here in the winter. And don't forget last January they actually had snow in the valley here......for a few hours and then it melted!!

nothing to add but came by to say i am sick again.
had a relapse yesterday morning.

Hi guys!

I just thought I would stop in & say Hello. :wave2:

Same old, same old going on here.

My 7th grader joined the wrestling team so that has been interesting. My 4th grader had a couple teeth knocked out in gym class but they got put back in and he is doing well with them now.

Not much else is going on -- Oldest is going to school & not really involved in much else (drama club), youngest is in Kindergarten nothing too much going on there.

The rest is same old stuff, different day. :lmao:

Geffric- You mentioned Naperville. You must not live that far from me. I am so impressed that you do meals on wheels. Tell me more about it. It is volunteer right? I wouldn't mind helping sometimes. I live in NW Suburbs but Eric has pole vault camp at North Central College in Naperville..

I work ( volunteer) in the kitchen for Meals on Wheels, we do 80+ home bound, 10 adult day care and 45-75 cafe meals( seniors that can come to the center to eat) ..Like today their had their choice of baked fish or chicken, plus mixed veggie, rice, milk, apple, juice, bread and butter for only $2.50. ( if they can aford to pay)

I am at Palatine Township Senior Center. I am also a Ill certified SHIP ( Senior Healthcare Insurance Program) counsoler.. I can do Medicare advice anywhere in the state of Ill.

Many 15 year olds and older work on their break at MOW and the Senior centers for their hours.. non driving stuff.. Geoff did some hours their last year and Eric will do some this year.. so ask at the local Senior Center and get your DD signed up for break..

SLO - glad that he is back to work and doing something he loves is a big plus..

slo - Congrats to Kevin!! What a relief, I'm sure!

KimRaye - actually it is DH and I that are watching DWTS. We liked Mark because we're Iron Chef fans so we're bummed he got booted. Kind of stinks since it wasn't his fault his partner got sick. Of course DH likes Joanna Kruppa too. :rolleyes1
I agree, poor Lacey. Even MY DH was saying 'poor Lacey'. I'm not sure WHICH pro-lady dancer HE'S watching! Used to be Edyta - then Karina - now Lacey??? :confused3 :rotfl: I like Donny, of course (given my age), and Aaron (NOT given my age! ). :flower3:
The finals are gonna be TOUGH!! :scared1:

Well wishes to ALL!! :grouphug:
