Calling all Chicago DISers #3

Happy Sunday everyone! Working here, and trying not to nod off...had a hard time sleeping last night and it is catching up with me!

All my best, and stay dry when it rains later today!

Howdy!! :wave2:

Getting a free minute here.
The kid's have friends over to play.

Gosh it's really muggy out!! It's really early for all this humidity and for that matter too early for all the weeds and dandelions in our yard!! What's up with that?!!? :confused3

Got a roast in the crock pot!!! :goodvibes The house smells really good!

slo DD is in this weird funk about liking or not liking Hannah Montana. She doesn't like the character any more and doesn't watch the show, but she likes Miley Cyrus. So she wants to see the movie and doesn't want to see it at the same time!

Tiggerrn Congrats to your son and his team!

Hersey Please give details on the HP exhibit, as I and the kids are planning to go to it soon!! :goodvibes

disneygal Where's that picture???????? :cutie:

aces Nice to see you stop by! Hurricanes!!!! AHHHH!! :scared1:

paint How was teaching alone??

irish dancer The where is in Vegas. They moved out there about 16 years ago to semi-retire. We actually lived out there with them when they first moved and then we moved back here after a year.

Gotta run! Take care all!!!

I'm not sure how much longer I can take this wind - it's terrible!!!! Even the girls got tired of playing in it yesterday. I woke up last night at about 3am, and I had a very hard time going back to sleep because of the wind. We have our bedroom windows open a little, and there was so much wind coming in, that it makes our ceiling fan spin (not a lot of course, but it's still moving). It's no secret how much I hate wind, and I believe we are living in a more windy world. I have never remembered this much wind in the past. I've been saying this for about a year now. I wish I knew a local meterologist so I could have this discussion with them.

DMJ07 - I had to go into work for awhile yesterday too. Did you have to work long? I was in my office for just a couple of hours. I had to catch up on some work at my desk.

Bunchkin - The roast in the crock pot sounds wonderful!!!!:goodvibes
**I think Lauren will like the movie, because it focuses more on Miley than Hannah. If she doesn't see it in the movie theater, it's not a big loss. This is not a movie that has to be seen on the big screen.:sad2:

Well, I better run and make Stephanie's lunch - have a good day today!!!

Good Morning Everyone! :flower3: Sorry I haven't posted the pic of my new hair cut. I've been planning and organizing things for the wedding. Mike, my dad, and my coworker all really like it. I got a few blond highlights and several layers. I'm still getting used to those!

Hersey ~ was that the Harry Potter exhibit at the museum of science and industry you went to? i really want to see that!

Slo ~ it was quite windy last night! I had to close my window b/c it was blowing my windchimes like crazy!

Everyone else ~ :wave2: have a wonderful day!

When we first moved to Florida we lived in Palm coast (Flagler beach)(just north of Daytona) We lived near the beach.
But we just moved to Orlando.
I really do love it here.

Happy Muggy Monday!

Bunchkin..I wish you all the best with your move out west..I think I shared with you before that my mom lived in Vegas for 10 years, so we visited out there quite a bit when the kids were younger. How are you feeling about it?

Mac...how are you doing? I hope you are feeling much, much better this week!

Hersey..the school is still in the fundraising, we are really trying to stay open phase of things...they raised an *incredible* amount of money in a very, very short time frame...and are now waiting on the powers that be to make a decision. Thanks for asking! Mark and I are doing okay, we went up to Lake Geneva last Saturday just for the day, the weather actually cooperated with us. How was the Harry Potter exhibit?

Disneygal...we are all waiting to see that haircut!

Tigg..congratulations to your son's team!

Slo..yep, it's windy out there. I am not real fond of the wind, either. Let me know if you find that meterologist and what they have to say.

Shout to ALL, especially lurkers, and I hope everyone has a great evening...tonight it's House and Dancing with the Stars and then tomorrow it's the Adam Lambert show, oops, I mean American Idol, but I do LOVE Adam!

Take care, all!:goodvibes

Donna Hopefully they decide to keep the school open. It costs a lot of money to have an empty school also. Glad you two had a great weekend

Harry Potter was really cool. I bought the audio for Alex so he could hear the background stories. I not sure how much he really got from it. The exhibit was packed they had groups going in every 4-5 minutes. The Harry Potter store is very expensive, but of course you have to walk through it to exit.

Mac How are you doing? I hope you are feeling better.

Disneygal I got my hair cut a couple of weeks ago it is so much easier to handle in the morning.

This is a quickie this morning because I have that "leads" group to go to. This is my 2nd week of being guest, and then after this I can join :)

All this rain we are getting is really making my hostas and daylilies pop out of the ground. As much as I don't like the rain, I do like how it's making everything grow and get nice and green.

DG - My windchimes were going crazy too ::yes::

aces - I"m glad you are enjoying Orlando:)
**Have you spoken with 2sweetangels lately? We haven't seen her in a very long time.

Mac - How are you feeling?
*Thanks for the listings :)

Donna - Please keep us posted about the school, and I will keep them in my prayers that they stay open.

HERSEY - I"m glad you enjoyed the Harry Potter exhibit. I really want to go see that Pirate one at The Field Museum, and I hope they have an audio tour there, because I want to get it :)

Well, I gotta go get ready for this meeting.
Have a good day!!

Morning.. another rainy day in Chicagoland.. and high temp is 50.. and of course Eric has a track meet.
Yesterday was super busy.. waited in line for summer school registration for Eric, went to Meals on Wheels and everyone was sick so no one was there.. put the meals in the oven, etc...I got a lot a work done and the meals were only 5 minutes late.. then I had scouts last night..

Today I have a survey to go to this morning.. $175.. yep $175.. that will pay for a dining plan for 5 days...:woohoo:, then off to work the track meet at school..

aces - I"m glad you are enjoying Orlando.. it is my dream to be there..

HERSEY - hope the heaircut is nice.. i was thinking about doing that too..

Donna - prayers for keeping the school open.

MAC-- how are you feeling today??

gotta go and enjoy the survey..

Morning, all! Thanks for the PD for mysolo teaching. It went wonderfully! The teacher sid she'd been impressed with my confidence during the team teaching but was blown away during my solo teaching. She said I am so ready for my own classroom. Other than that, I did get to enjoy some nice weather last weekend. My mom came down and we bbq'ed on Sat. and then ds had a friend sleepover. I love when he has this neighbor boy over. He is so polite and they play nicely together.
slo- Saw the pirate exhibit in another city. It was awesome!
dgal- Keep meaning to tel you-love the bmaids dresses!
hersey- The HP exhibit sounds cool. I am so excited for the movie. I said I am going to request off of work!
bunchkin- Wow! Vegas?!?
Tig- Hurray for ds! My ds is so not sporty. He's a little professor. He wants to be an archaeologist!
aces- If it weren't for having an xh (who would object to me moving to FL), I'd be right there with you. I hate the IL weather!

Hi everyone!

A blast from the past here. I haven't been to this thread in ages. I started reading back through and miss reading about everyone.

For those that remember, my DD was going to have spinal fusion surgery due to scoliosis. She had that and this is her first week back at school. She is doing great & was driving me crazy during recovery. Always my on the go girl, so being confined was difficult but alas, she found a new adventure to pursue since gymnastics is over & done with. She wanted to enter a pageant, so she is doing the National American Miss over Labor Day weekend. It's not the super glitzy ones you see & there is no swimsuit competition but I'm so far out of knowing what the heck I'm doing it's not even funny. :lmao: Of course, if she quailfies to go to Nationals they have a day at Disneyland -- so gee, twist my arm -- forget HER....I want her to qualify so I can go to Disneyland. Along with jumping in with both feet for some school activities that is going on toward the end of the year.

The boys are doing good -- Amazingly enough my 12 year old made High Honors last grading period. Straight A's -- I was totally shocked as I never thought that would happen. He is just taking to middle school like a duck takes to water.

That is a quick update on us. Now that DD is going back to school, my life might get back to somewhat normal but I wouldn't count on it! Something always comes along to throw a curveball at me. I'm not even sure what normal IS anymore. :rotfl:

Morning all! Where did our nice weather go? :confused3
Paint, glad to hear you did such a bang-up job teaching.:thumbsup2 What grades will you be able to teach when you are done?
geffric, is this survey related to your free vacation?
Aces, you are sitting on the Mouse's doorstep!! How lucky for you! So are you tired of it now that you can go there any time or does it just keep getting better?
Mac, hope you are feeling better each day. Thanks for the listings. I wish I got that channel to check it out.
Slo, thanks for the HM review. I still want to take Kellie to see that movie. I want to see it as well.:rolleyes1
Bunchkin, it's sad when the kids start to outgrow the characters they used to love. Just points out the fact that they are growing up faster and faster. I remember when Thomas and Dora were as BIG as it got.
Well, everyone, I just got a call from DS that he forgot his recorder for music. This is the 2nd time that has happened. So I need to run to get that over to the school for him. I told him this is the last time I will do this.:headache:
DG, Hersey, Donna, DisneymoonJess, and everyone else, try to have a great day in this sloppy mess.
Later all.

Good Morning Everyone! :flower3: Not much new here. Oh, Mike got us $25 tix for the thursday evening Cubs game! :cool1: Awesome deal too! We will be attending with a few other people so I'm excited!

Slo ~ I agree, I can't really complain about the rain b/c it officially means Spring is HERE!!! ya know, April showers bring May flowers.

Hersey ~ glad you liked the exhibit:thumbsup2

Paint ~ congrats on your solo teaching! :thumbsup2 Also, thanks for the compliment on the bm dresses! i also love them!

Everyone else ~ :wave2: have a nice day!

Becky ~ Good to "see" you here.

paint ~ Glad to hear the teaching went well.

geffric ~ Wow! What a busy day.

I have my appointment with the neurosurgeon today. I must admit it kinda freaked me out when I saw that I have to see him at the cancer center at the hospital. I have known he specializes in cancer, that is the reason my doctor wants me to see him, but seeing it on paper was still weird.

Hi gang! I can't believe I haven't posted in over a week! My bad....It seems to me about the time I started on Facebook. I better figure out where my priorities are!

Bunchkin - Good luck on your upcoming move! Keep visiting us or we will miss you and all be sad.

DG - Love, love the tangerine colored dresses. Congrats on working with the consultant. Let's see the new hairdo!

Piglet - Good luck at the doctor today! My prayers are with you.

Tigger - Congrats on ds winning game! Our keeps getting cancelled - gosh I wonder why? But, so far ds team has won all their games.

Becky- I am glad to hear that you daughter is doing well. The pageant sounds fun! Good luck to her.

Hi to everyone else!
Lori

Hi guys! Just a quick drive by....have my hair dye on and waiting for the timer to beep.

Busy week this week, DD7 is making her First Communion on Saturday - yikes! They get so old so fast.......I think we have everything, dress, veil, shoes, hose. Have received most RSVPs for the party. My niece is making her Communion as well so we're having a joint party. Tom Skilling is forecasting a nice day, we'll keep our fingers crossed that he's right!

piglet - hope all goes well at the MD today.

paint - glad the teaching went well.

mac - how are you feeling? thanks for the listings, will have to DVR that new one.

Tiggerrn - congrats to your DS on winning his game!!

Becky2005 - Welcome Back!! Glad to hear all is going well for your DD.

slo - I don't like the rain either but it sure does wonders for the grass, trees and flowers doesn't it?! They're growing like crazy, unfortunately so are the weeds. ;)

:wave2: to everyone else. Have to run, the timer is beeping so that means it's time to rinse. The sun is finally out - yeah! Have a great day everyone! :flower3:

Hi everyone!

Becky It's good to hear from you. It has been a long while!
I'm glad to hear that the surgery your DD had went well. And good luck to her in the pagent. Congrats to your DS on his grades!!
Don't be such a stranger around here. :)

Hersey GLad to hear you liked the exhibit. How much additional $ was the audio for the tour?
Gee, go figure, a store at the end of an exhibit? Made me think of the Jungle Cruise skippers who always use that joke....wow! a gift shop at the end of a Disney ride!!
I didn't know you cut your hair? How much did you cut off?
I cut mine off last month!

disneygal Those are great ticket prices!! Are they in the 'walk up a zillion ramps until your dead' section?? :rotfl: Have a great time!!!

Tiggerrn I've mentioned shows to DD that she used to love and sometimes she doesn't even remember them! That makes me feel old! And she definitly had an influence on what DS watched too.

irish dancer Hope the weather is nice for the party. Having a combined one is a great idea!! And a money saving one too I would guess!! :goodvibes

geffric My sister is the queen of surveys!! She makes some decent money at it. Yours is a great pay out. Congrats!! :cool1:

paint That's great to hear you teacher was impressed and thinks your ready for your own class. Too bad your not up here still. I just saw today at the school that they are looking for several teachers to start the new year.
When will you be done with school?

Donna That's great the school was able to raise a lot of money. I hope the higher ups make the right decision for all.

momto1 Another Facebook junkie??!!!!!

mac Thanks for the listings, as usual!! :goodvibes
