Calling all Chicago DISers #3

Bunchkin ~ Good luck on Tony's job search.

Geffric ~ We use our bedroom as the "hide the mess" room. If there is stuff that we just don't have time to put away right, it ends up in there while company is over.

I hope everyone has a good day.

Hi! :wave2:

Well, I'm sick...again. Caught DD's cold. She was home on Mon sick and was sick the whole weekend too.
I catch all the germs the kids bring home....I just wish they bring home money so I could catch that instead.

disneygal I think it's cute to celebrate your engagement. Especially if you have a long wait till your married. Have long have you and Mike been a couple? DH and I were a couple for 5 years before we were engaged and then married less than a year later. And that was almost 14 years ago!

geffric & DisneymoonJess Hope you both have a wonderful Passover.

Hi to all!!!

Need to run! I'm trying to list my very first item on Ebay. I've bought from Ebay many times but have never sold on Ebay. Hope I do it right!!! :rolleyes1

I was in front of the TV at 8:30pm last night
Why am I ? Because that NEVER happens.
We had the fastest, smoothest, evening in such a long time - it was weird!!!!
I came home from work, we ate, we went to the mall so the girls could see the Easter bunny, we were back home by 7pm, I got the girls ready for bed, and everyone was asleep by 8:30pm. It was so bizaare, and I loved it!!!!! :teeth:

geffric and Disneymoon - Happy Passover (do people say that?) I hope you have a great holiday!!!:goodvibes
*What all are you cooking?

DG - Thanks for the PM - it sounds great!!!!:thumbsup2:goodvibes

piglet - When do you go see the specialist? I think you said, but I don't remember

Bunchkin - Good luck with your selling:wizard:I've tried putting stuff on ebay for the store, but I've had no luck. I have since bought a "ebays for Dummies" book, and I'm hoping that helps. Kevin is going to start working on that today, because I would love to sell store stuff on ebay, so I can have more store income. If you have any questions, let me know, and I'll ask Kevin - he's sold many personal things on ebay throughout the years.
**I hope you feel better :wizard::wizard: I have colds!!!!:headache:

Well, it's time for me to get this day started. I have to work until 7pm today, because I had to cut my employees hours to almost nothing - breaks my heart!!!! I just love this girl, and it killed me to tell her to start looking for a 2nd job, and I will do everything I can to help her. These times are really terrible!!!! :sad1:

Have a good day!!!

Good Morning Everyone! :flower3: I'm so happy it's almost Friday! I feel like this week is just dragging on and on. I'm debating on taking a medical terminology class this summer. Why you ask? b/c 1) it will give me something to do. and 2) i'm debating on switching careers. I don't know what I want to do in the medical field but at least a terminology class will get me familiar with the language while i'm investigating my options. my mom was in the medical field. my sister is in the medical field. she thinks i'd make an awesome unit secretary (i think that's what she called it). I just am considering. I don't know if anything will come of it.

Slo ~ so sorry to hear you had to cut back your employees hours. :sad1: glad you liked my plan!

Bunchy ~ feel better soon :wizard: Good luck with ebay. i've never sold anything yet... only purchased! i'm considering putting a few things up for sale though. that is if i ever go through my things and get organized!

DisneymoonJess and Geffric ~ have a wonderful holiday!

Everyone else ~ :wave2: have a great day!

Hi all!!

Didn't get my item up on Ebay yet! I was too busy looking at what similar items are going for and I ran out of time and needed to get off the computer and get dinner. But so far, I've come to the conclusion that Craigslist is easier! I used Craigslist to sell our van and that worked out well.
I did try and put my item on Craigslist but there was an issue with my pics. :confused3 At which point I bailed on that too. :)

Kids got out an hour early today, and thus begins Spring break for us.
Kids and I want to go to MSI to see the Harry Potter exhibit but that doesn't open until the 20th. So we're thinking of other things we can do instead during their break.

slo Sorry to hear you had to cut back on yout employee's hours, but it's totally understandable in these times. Practically everyone is in one way or antoher cutting back some how.

dinseygal I think the class you want to take is a GREAT idea!! ::yes::

Today I am only working until 1pm, so I can go to Mass at 1:30. I'm glad I have my employee to work the tiny amount of hours that I can give her, so I can do some other things in my life. I would feel really bad if I couldn't go to Mass today - I haven't missed a Good Friday Mass in many many years.

DG - You can never have to much education!!!! I think the class is a great idea!!:thumbsup2

Bunchkin - I'm so glad to see you on here more again - I've really really missed you  How are you feeling today? How is Tony's mom doing?
**Putting things on ebay does take a long time, until you really really know how to do it (which isn't me yet). Kevin set me up an ebay store yesterday for the store, so I can try to sell things on there. I told him he's in charge of it, because I don't know anything about it:rolleyes: That book I mentioned really helped him. I would suggest getting it from the library to help you sell your things.

Well, I must go get ready for work
Have a great day today everyone!!!

Good Morning Everyone! :flower3: It's definitely quiet today at work. I think there are only 6 of us in an office of about 30! Is there mail today? I think the stocks are closed but not sure about the mail. I hope so!

It's going to be a busy busy weekend. Tomorrow I have to go grocery shopping early so I can get the good veggies for Easter dinner! Then I need to go get a bridal shower gift for a co-worker... what i'm going to get, I don't know. All she pretty much registered for is fancy china and silverware. :sad2: Then I need to get home, clean my room:scared1:, bake my Easter cupcakes, vaccuum the house and polish the furniture. I know I have other things on my list, I just can't think of them at the moment:laughing:

Slo and Bunchkin ~ Thanks for the support on taking the class! I just thought it might be interesting. And if i dont use it to spur a career change, at least i'll know what the doc is actually talking about when i go visit!

Slo ~ Glad Kevin was able to set up an Ebay store for you! Hopefully that will pull in some revenue! :wizard:

Bunchy ~ I completely forgot the Harry Potter Exhibit was coming to the MSI!!!! I really want to go see that! I'm such a kid. Good luck with Ebay and Craigslist:wizard:

My head is like a faucet!! :scared:
I hate being sick.

When I went to check on DS last night before I went to bed, I could tell he was burning up. Took his temp and it was high. So I had to wake him up to take some meds. He seems fine this morning, no temp.

Went through the kids closets and dressers these past few days clearing out what doesn't fit them any more.
Both kids have had growth spurts, both in height and weight.
Gonna need to do some clothes shopping soon.

slo Enjoy Mass today. I've missed you too!
And that book is a good idea, I'll go check it out soon.

disneygal Are you having Easter at your and your dad's house?
I love Harry Potter!!! Goofing around, I told my son that HP was my boyfriend!! He cracked up and then said he was going to tell his friends that!!! He's a real smarty pants!!!....for a 6 year old. Luckily, I talked him out of it!!!!

Time for lunch here!

Greetings..

I have been super busy .. yesterday was the Meals On wheels event for the seniors for easter .. I helped with the home deliveries and served at the special lunch.. it was great fun.. then onto PT and to my brithers for the second sedar..

Today i ran a few errands and then took Geoff to a friends house to help her identify systems such as N64 and SuperN and Xbox, Sega and sega genes.. if any of your kids want these plus some games she is partig with them at a very resonable price..

Then on to Costco.... now back until I pick up Eric from gf's..

This is going to be a busy holiday weekend.

My MIL is being received into the church tonight, so this is going to be a busy weekend celebrating that. I need to work all day, and then we have church all night - we probably won't be home until 11pm. The tiring part about this, is that we have to wait until the girls are asleep to hide eggs and for me to make their baskets - this will be a long day :faint:

Tomorrow, I'm sure the girls will wake up up early, so they can get their goodies, and then we need to get ready for brunch. My inlaws are taking us all out for Easter brunch to celebrate my MIL being received into the church. Then we are going to their house after, and then going to my mom's house after that :faint: My mom asked me if we wanted to have dinner at her house, but it wouldn't be until 6:30/7:00pm, and I said "no thanks". I told her that by that time, I wanted to be home and in my PJ's to watch TV:)

So that's my weekend in a nutshell - it'll be quite active!!!

DG - Sounds like you have a busy day too. I hope you are able to get everything done that you want to do:wizard:

Bunchkin - Spring colds are the worst aren't they?! I sure hope you feel better soon!!!:wizard:
**Was Hunter able to keep his fever away? I hope he feels okay for Easter:wizard:
**Do you and the kids check out CD's from the library? This is my big interest now in our efforts to save $$$$. I've been checking out tons of CD's and then copying them on either mine or Steph's ipod, or burning them on blank CD's for all of us. My kids CD selections have gone from some to alot, and they are loving all their new music. A friend of mine asked the librarian if it was okay to do this, and she said it was, as long as we weren't reselling it. I've been having alot of fun with this.

geffric - Sounds like you've been busy :faint: How was Passover?

Well, I gotta go get ready for work - I hope I have some business today:wizard:
Have a good day today everyone!!!

Slo Sorry things are slowing down for you. Hopefully it is only very short termed. I wish you much business. pixiedust:

Bunchkin Hopefully you are feeling better and Hunter is doing well also.

Geffric You sound like you are keeping yourself busy. Any leads on jobs?

Well I better jump in the shower then get my baking started.

Happy Saturday everyone! I'm now on Phase II of spring break. The girls are off next week, hope they have decent weather. DS was off yesterday too, we went to the library and he got the book Coraline. It is 13 chapters and he read the whole thing in one day! He's never been so singularly focused, he has some ADD with his autism.

Today is kind of busy. DD7 has gymnastics then we're going to Portillos for lunch (we haven't eaten our to even gotten delivery for over a month), the girls are going to my mom's to help plant a family garden. We've got to color eggs tonight and hope to get them to bed early enough to do all the bunny stuff.

Tomorrow we do church, DD12 is serving 11:45, and we'll do dinner at my in-laws. We had offered to host but they said they'd do it. I feel bad because FIL is still doing chemo and tires easily but they insisted. I'm bringing 2 dishes and an apple pie, hope that helps reduce his load.

piglet - how are things going? Have you met with the specialist? I hope all is well, I've been keeping you in my prayers.

slo - I haven't been getting notices about PMs either, wonder what's up. Now I'm in the habit of looking just in case.

Bunchkin - congrats to DD and DS on the math bee and musical!
*Sorry about Tony's layoff, hope things turn around soon.
**Continued prayers and PD for your MIL.
***Sorry you're sick, spring colds are so depressing. I hope you're better soon.

disneygal - hope your ankle is feeling a bit better.

geffric & Jess - hope your Passover seders went well, do you say Happy Passover?

:wave2: to mac, Hersey, Leigh, paint, Donna all all our other Chicago Dissers.

I hope momto1s trip is going well. I've been reading on the boards that MK and Epcot have been closing daily for a few hours due to being at capacity. :scared:/ I hope they're having fun.

Well, gotta run and jump in the shower to take DD to gymnastics. Enjoy this sunshine day. Happy Easter!! :flower3:

Hi everyone!

Ok, I HAVE TO finish my taxes this weekend. :lmao: (Of course, all I keep doing is posting that everywhere, instead of actually doing them!)

I will do them now! (After I post one more thing on the Dis. :rotfl: )

I'm well underway on my taxes...I think I'll finish on time! :woohoo: :lmao: AND I think I'll be getting a refund! :woohoo: I usually have to pay.

I just had Comcast come out because my picture on the lower channels has been really bad. He said it was an outside problem, so a line tech is supposed to come out in a couple of days and fix it. <<fingers crossed>>

The scary thing was that I posted about my problem the other night on Twitter, and very shortly after that, I had a ComcastBonnie writing me asking me about the problem, and giving me advice. :scared: I mean, I guess that's good, but it was veeery Big Brother-ish. :scared1:

Hello to all and Happy Easter!

Things have been crazy-hectic here lately...you might have heard about the high school that is planning to close...well, it is the school where our son teaches, and we are all *fighting* hard to keep it open...(if you would like more info, please feel free to PM me, as I am not sure what is okay to post here) Just please keep a good thought/prayer if you could.

Sending out good wishes for all who are job-seeking, feeling the effects of the economy in any way, or experiencing health issues themselves or with a loved one...please know you are, as always, in my thoughts.

I hope everyone has a peaceful Easter and is able to share some quality time with those they love!:)

LOL! There are people that are just looking for keywords. I've posted about products I'm evaluating and had people I've never heard of reply with comments about it.

What's your Twitter handle?

WOW! I was so thrilled to see this thread - Sure could use your good advice. We'd like to visit Chicago in June for about 2 - 3 days during a driving trip from Pittsburgh to Minneapolis.

Obviously, the hotels out of town are less expensive than in town - and the parking! OUCH.

So, the question is - how hard is it to get from the outskirts to in town where the attractions are, using public transportation.

Would you think a hotel near Midway would be a good location for that, or do you have an area you would recommend more?

What else should I know?

TIA for your help! I surely will appreciate it!

The girls had a fantastic Easter morning opening their baskets and finding Easter eggs:goodvibes
Now we need to go get ready for brunch:goodvibes
So, I'm sorry this is such a quick post.

I hope you all have a wonderful and blessed Easter today :grouphug:

HI Linda,

Welcome!

Midway Airport is not on an expressway so another location maybe better. I am thinking near ohare so you can just hop on a L to downtown and near north.
If you are going to MSI then I would drive to that.. others are accessible by L.. which is the fastest way to go..

I'll do more thinking and let you know more..

Linda - There are also the Metra train lines that you can take downtown from various places. Its web site is http://www.metrarail.com That has maps and schedules. (I'm just not use to the L. I've only taken it once, going to Midway from work.)

I finally finished my taxes! :woohoo: I'm getting two refunds! :woohoo: It'll be nice to have more money in my savings account, for a change.

Crissup - I'm Sk8ieSH on Twitter. I'm trying to anonymous on that, though, so if you say anything to me, just don't use my name. And if you look at it, be prepared for a lot of writing to Ryan Seacrest. :rolleyes1 :rotfl: (He did actually respond to me once, about Little Debbies. :lmao: )

The Captain of the merchant ship got free from the pirates! :woohoo::yay::cheer2: Apparently he had jumped overboard again, and our Navy Seals rescued him and killed three of the pirates, and captured the other one. Yay!
