Calling all Chicago DISers #3

Oh Bunchkin, I am so sorry for your loss. I will definitely keep Tony, you, and your whole family in my prayers.

Sad news.
DH's mom passed away this morning.

Oh no! :( I had just realized that I hadn't checked in for a few days and came over to catch up. I'm very sorry to read this. You've got a big heart and are a very caring person to move across the country to take care of them. I hate to hear such sad news for you. {{{HUGS}}} You'll all be in my thoughts.

Thanks everyone. :grouphug:

Just got back from being at FIL's house. The kids and I got over there around 2pm. We just got done taking him for some dinner then came home. DH is taking a shower and then heading back to spend the night over there with him, just in case.
Tony's sister and her husband will be arriving tomorrow.

:surfweb:

I'm a little tired this morning from working until 11pm last night.
When I came home, I told Kevin that the only time I sat down yesterday was in my car, and to eat breakfast and dinner - outside of that, I was on my feet all day.
I need to try and get to work a little early today, because I still have so much to do. I would have liked to stay at work later, but Kevin wanted me to come home with the storm rolling in.

Bunchkin -My deepest sympathies to you and your family  As sad as her passing is, she is in a peaceful place now with no more pain, no more sickness, and no more mediciane to take. I will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers, and especially your FIL who will be so sad w/o her :guilty: So many hugs to all of you!!!!:grouphug::grouphug::grouphug:

momto1 - WDW is getting at Iron Chef restaurant - cool!!!!!!:thumbsup2 I like Cat Cora too!!!!

DG - I look forward to hearing your review of G-Force. I hope it's good!!!:)

To Everyone else - :wave2:

I'm off to work - have a good day!!!

Good Morning Everyone! :flower3: looks like it's going to be a rainy day. Mike and I were driving home last night right when the storm was starting. It was lighting like crazy. There was one time it looked as if the lighting was about a mile away, right in front of us. we saw the bolt all the way from the clouds to the ground... or so it appeared. it was probably much farther away but it was still kind of cool to see. Though, had it been closer i probably would have started to freak out, luckily we were almost home:thumbsup2

momto1 ~ do you know when Cat Cora's restaurant is supposed to open. Wait nevermind my trip will be ending as yours is beginning. I'm still looking for a restaurant for our departure day. hmmm... i'll have to look into this.:goodvibes

Slo ~ glad you are busy.:thumbsup2 bummer you were on your feet all day. hope you get alot done and are able to enjoy your weekend!:goodvibes

Bunchkin Hopefully your SIL will play nice. How is your FIL holding up?

Slo I hope things continue on a less hectic but steady pace for you at the store.

DG I saw some of the storms last night from my bedroom. WOW I saw a lightening strike that was hopefully in the forest preserve by me and not a home.

Today is supposed to be dry for the most part. Hopefully I can get done all that I need to. I saw some flooring at Home Depot that is fairly inexpensive and I can do it myself:thumbsup2. Now I just need to figure out which colors and how to pay for it:rotfl:

Nicole...I am so sorry for your family's loss. You guys will be in my thoughts and prayers...:grouphug:

Thanks again everyone for your kind words. :grouphug:

Bunchkin Hopefully your SIL will play nice. How is your FIL holding up?

SIL just arrived at FIL's house a short while ago. I was on the phone talking to Tony, who spent the night, when she pulled up.
I expect her to be her normal witchy self and use any thing that is said and done to be fodder for her blog or her Facebook.
Tony's dad seems to be doing fine. But he also seems to be stuck on the idea that he wants to go to Chicago!! To visit people he says, but most of the people he knows there are either dead or he hasn't seen in ages. And he thinks he can go there on his own. :sad2: It's a hard situation to deal with. He thinks that all of the sudden he can do things and take on responsibilities that he has never done before. His wife took care of everything before Tony got here in Jan.

Sorry to rattle on.

Hi Strangers! Long time no see or read for that matter. I hope this post finds you all happy and healthy. I am going to go back and try and catch up here a bit. I wonder who is still around!!! Glad to see the thread!
Here is a thread I just started that I thought you guys might be interested in. Also I am Debbie6221 at Facebook and Twitter if any of you are there too and remember me!!!

Hi guys! Well, I can't believe it is Sunday night already!! What a wonderful weekend of weather we had, especially today. I hope everyone else had a chance to enjoy the outdoors....

DD12 came home from camp Friday, so happy to have her back!! She had a great time. By bedtime she was complaining of a sore throat and was running a low grade fever by morning so I took her in to the MD. Yep, strep throat! She was pretty wiped out yesterday but is better tonight after a few doses of anitbiotics.

Re-did my dry erase calendar in the kitchen. It includes Back to School! :scared1: Where has the summer gone?! :confused3 It hasn't even felt like summer yet. Now, I don't really like the hot weather but it doesn't feel like summer without it.

mac - thanks as always for the listings, will have to check out that Little Couple one. Never seen that show.

Hersey - hope you got all you wanted done.

disneygal - that lightening Friday was amazing. We had one that was so bright and followed by the loudest crack of thunder it literally shook the house. Needless to say all the kids were up with that one!

slo - hope you got a bit of relaxing in today or at least some outside time since it was so nice out.

:wave2: to everyone else!

Tomorrow is back to the grind. Need to clean the basement, it has become the dumping ground for anything/everything we don't know what to do with. Also need to fold a few loads of laundry.

:surfweb:

It's always so hard to get motivated after having a day off.

Stephanie's party was a success :thumbsup2
The weather was perfect :sunny:
The girls played nice together:dance3:
Then after the party was over, my neighbor came over with her girls to swim (these girls are small, and they are coming to Katie's pool party).
We were outside until 8:30pm
It was a great day!!!!! :cool1:

DG - Lightning is pretty cool to watch when it's not threatening you. I get nervous when it gets to close too ::yes::

HERSEY - Where are you putting new flooring?

Donna - :wave2:

Bunchkin - Hearing about your FIL is sad :sad1: I sure hope he realizes his limitations, and doesn't just leave:eek: I wonder if you can put a LoJack type device on his car in case he does leave. We worry about my dad wandering by foot, but wandering by car is much worse:eek: Please keep us posted on how he is doing, and I will continue to keep everyone in my prayers.
**Good luck with the SIL :wizard: Have you set a date for your MIL's funeral yet?

Kim - :wave2:

Mac - Thanks for the listings!!!!:)

ID - I"m sorry to hear about your DD being sick:sick:Lots of PD for her to get better soon!!!:wizard::wizard:
**We were just talking yesterday about how school is starting soon :guilty:
My girls go back on August 19th - that's just not right!!!

It's time to get off this computer and get ready for work
Have a great day today everyone!!!

Good Morning Everyone! :flower3: I'm gonna make this quick b/c my eye is really hurting and i want to get my work done early so maybe my boss will let me go home early to get to the doc. i think i have a stye but it's been really painful for a week now and today its at its worse. :sad1:

Slo ~ glad the party went well!:thumbsup2

ID ~ hope DD12 feels better soon.:wizard: i can't believe it's almost back to school time.

mac ~ thanks for the info about the restaurant! :thumbsup2

everyone else ~ :wave2:

So everyone sounds like they had a nice weekend. The weather held out beautifully.

Didn't do to much yesterday EXCEPT I cleaned out the refridgerator! OMGoodness! I must say it looks great! love having clean stuff. Mike and I had a talk about house chores too yesterday. We are both lazy but we have a beautiful house and we should be able to keep it up with just the two of us. We also have a crawl space which is like the pit of H*##! :scared1: Yes strong words but it is what it is. We need to empty it out and then have the family over to pick up what they want. Honestly, I know we live in the family home, however, when my SIL and BIL AND my MIL & FIL moved into respective homes they did not have all this extra stuff that we do. We don't have the room to keep their stuff anymore. I am hoping this project can be done in the next couple of weeks as it would really help at least to clear the mind.:)

Nicole ~ Hope you are all hanging in there. Don't forget to eat or to have something to drink (even a lemonaid) on your own and if you can write stuff down that you will need for later. You are a great person for all you have done and we are keeping you in our prayers.

Disneygal ~ Yuck sorry about your eye. That stinks! They have an eye wash for that if you can't get to the dr. Just go to Walgreens and they can help you out.

Slo ~ Glad to hear that business is good and that the party went well! :dance3: I'm so happy for you! Sorry that you are tired though! It's hard being super woman/mom!

ID ~ I was shocked when CB sent an email about updates for Meg's schedule and boom:scared1: There was the first day of school! I echo the sentiment, Where did the summer go??:sad2: Hope your daughter feels better soon:sick::eek:!

Everyone else Hello and have a great day!:wave2:

Morning everyone. We had a very busy weekend at work-lots of new little ones to add to the census. Looks like I will finally get to enjoy the aqua center today-finally!!!
Bunchkin, I hear you about the worry of your FIL and the car. I worry with my mom all the time, too. She only goes around her little town now, but to get to the grocery store, she needs to cross the highway, and I worry she will forget she is going there and just keep going. When do you know the time has come to take away keys and just deal with their wrath? My mom gets really mean when you tell her she can't do something.
ID hope your DD is feeling better.
DG hope your eye is not what you think it is and that it feels OK soon.
Mac, thanks for the listings. I wonder if I have the Learning Channel.
Hello to everyone out there-I am going to do a few things around here :laundy:and then get things ready to go to the pool.
Later

Good Morning Everyone! :flower3: slow day around here. my eye is feeling about 85% better today. I left work early yesterday. Laid on the couch with a warm compress (per nurse's orders) and then put some more stye ointment goopy stuff in. The swelling has gone down, it's still a little bloodshot but looks much better over:goodvibes

Esbrick ~ I always feel so accomplished after I clean.

Tigg ~ hope you had fun at the aqua center! :thumbsup2

Everyone ~ :wave2: have a wonderful day!

Hi guys! So glad we're getting some summer weather finally! DH couldn't take it anymore and broke down and put on the air, I was fine without but he was hot so on it went. :rolleyes1

Got a ton accomplished yesterday in the basement. Still a ways to go but at least there is more room to walk around down there. ;) DS8 has his first real playdate today with a boy from his day camp. This boy is also on the spectrum so it should be interesting to see how it goes. They share a love/obsession of Star Wars so that should keep them busy for a while.

DD12 wants me to teach her to shave today! :scared: I'm SO not ready for her to grow up, the teen years scare me! :rotfl: Thanks for all the get well wishes for her, she's feeling much better.

disneygal - yikes, I hope your eye is better soon. I've had sytes and pink eye and they are no fun.

Tiggerrn - hope you had fun at the aqua center yesterday. DD7 is asking to go the the pool today, might have to make the trek. They've only been a few times this year.

esbrick - your crawl space sounds a bit like my basement. You'll feel so much better once you clean some of it out. It's amazing how much junk we accumulate over the years!

slo - glad Stephanie's party went well. Hope you had a good leads group this morning.

Well, DD is waiting to leave for the store to pick out a razor (ugh) so I've got to run. Have a great day everyone! :flower3:
