Calling all Chicago DISers #3

Good Tuesday Morning Chicagoland Homies......:goodvibes

hoping for no rain tonight.
one son taking gf to Ravina for the Beach Boys concert.

I wanted him to take me but oh no, that little woman gets my spot....
and to think, i was the main woman in his life for years.....

i think we beat slo again this morning.
that means her business is great and we are happy about that!

geffric, i think we have 3 times we can meet up with KimRaye. gotta check the schedule again but i know we have great opportunity to get together with her. i exchanged numbers with her so as long as the cell phones hold a charge, we are good to go. i'll send you a schedule and her soon.

the night we eat at Tonys, we can meet up with her 2 times.
also have her down for a meet up another date.

Hello my fellow Chicagoans.
Sorry to jump on, but I had a question.
Do any of you have a bakery you could recommend in the burbs (specifically western suburbs - I'm in Carol Stream).
My daughter's Sweet 16 is coming up and I am trying to find a good bakery for a "fancier" cake than just a plain Jewel or Costco cake.

Thanks for any suggestions!

Oh, I'm of no help but I would love to know too. My DD has already told me exactly what she wants. Basically a 3-tiered cake with ribbon around the bottom, etc... She needs a bakery of some sort & I have no clue. I do have a bit of time as hers isn't until March but she is already trying to plan something.

How about Sauer's over by Jewel (in the corner) County farm and army trail. Good cakes sometimes a little pricey or you can go to Deerfields in Schaumburg off Roselle rd. Deerfield is famous for their wedding cakes.

Hi everyone!

We leave tomorrow and I still have to finish packing and cleaning up the house.
I've been spending a lot of time over at the inlaws the past few days.
MIL is doing better compared to her condition on Friday. The nurse says she was having a reaction to the blood she received in the hospital. FIL seems to be adjusting to the facts and coming along with the new schedule.
Sister inlaw.....I'd like to ring her neck but that's another saga for another day!!
We've got several people checking up on the inlaws while were out of town, including the hospice staff of course, as she is refusing the in-patient care facility.

Kim We had a trip planned to go to DL for Hunter's b-day way before MIL was in hospice, let alone doing this poorly.
The kids have been through so much and have seen so much lately that this trip will do them some good.
I just try to deal with everything as it comes and one day at a time.

irish dancer Happy birthday to you tomorrow!!! :cake:
I've never been to Macaroni Grill but have wanted to go. What did you eat there?

slo Your weekend sounds like it was a lot of fun!

disneygal Sorry to hear your sister was not feeling well and had to make a trip to the hopsital. Maybe they can set up a wing in the hosp. just for your family? ;) Seriously though, I hope she's doing much better and is able to follow the new diet.

Well, packing awaits. And I need to call DH and see when he'll be coming home from his mom's. I left there at 2:30 and he got there at 3:00. We're like passing ships.

bunchie, once again, you have saved my butt.

irish dancer, i hope tomorrow is the bestest birthday ever for you.

now i just need to remember that tomorrow is the big day so i can come back wednesday in style to tell you again.

bunchie, it is good to get away and be carefree with no troubles around you.
i'm sure your mil and fil will be fine.
go and celebrate your son's bd and have good old family fun!

The girls woke me up EARLY this morning due to the miniture store we had:headache: Now I'm up and tired, and they are both in their beds sleeping:rolleyes:I wish they would just sleep through these little storms, because it's so frustrating when they don't. Ok...enough venting about that:)

DG - I'm sorry to hear about your sister:guilty: Has she had this ulcer for awhile, or did she just find out about it this weekend? I'll send some PD her way to feel better soon!!!:wizard:

ID - Happy Birthday!!!! :cake:
I hope you have a wonderful day today!!!!

Bunchkin - Have a great trip, and happy birthday to Hunter!!! :cake:

:bday: irish dancer!

and a good Wednesday morning Chicagoland Homies.....:yay:

Good Morning Everyone! :flower3: I thoroughly enjoyed Harry Potter. Getting up this morning wasn't so bad but trying to stay up until 3:30am was rough. I haven't done that voluntarily since college.

Bunchy and Slo ~ thanks for the PD for my sister. She is starting to feel better.

Bunchy ~ good luck packing. Glad to hear MIL is doing better than she was.

Slo ~ sorry to hear the girls woke you up so early. hope you have a good day!

ID ~ Happy Birthday to you! Hope you have a wonderful day!

Everyone else ~ :wave2: have a great day!

Happy Birthday IrishDancer!!

DG ~ Glad to hear you enjoyed the movie. We are going to a 12:20 showing today.

Bunchkin ~ Glad to hear she is doing a bit better.

We are taking my parents out for my mom's birthday on Friday. Trying to come up with someplace to take them, it is always hard. Dewain and I were thinking about the Fish Company restaurant that is in the Bass Pro Shop, but not too sure how good they are. Any suggestions? My parents both love fish, so a seafood place would be nice. I don't want to spend more than $20 a person though.

Hi guys! Thanks for all the birthday wishes. Just home from the DL facility, got one of the new fancy high tech ones. Nothing much planned for today, just the usual. Trying to decide if I want to go out for dinner or make something here. Leaning heavily to going out, lol.

disneygal - glad to hear your sis is feeling better.
*Ugh, I don't think I could have stayed up for a movie that late. Think I'd have fallen asleep.
**The Macaroni Grill we went to was in Wheaton, I think there are others.

slo - the storm wasn't too bad here and thankfully DD7 now goes to DD12s room and DS8 never wakes up.

Bunchkin - have a GREAT time and Happy Birthday to Hunter!! Glad MIL is doing a bit better and that FIL is coping.
*I had a trio combo at Macaroni Grill, it was chicken parmesan, lasagne and chicken tortollini - it was way yummy.

mac - hope your DS didn't get rained on at Ravinia

:wave2: to everyone else!! Hope you all have a great day (and stay dry). :flower3:

Happy Birthday, IrishDancer! :bday:

And Happy Birthday to Hunter, too! :bday:

Bunchkin, have a great trip! :goodvibes

Hi gang! Hope everyone is having a great day! We are going to the White Sox game on Friday evening and I just heard it is supposed to be a high of 70 on Friday. What? This is mid-July in Illinois. It is supposed to be hot, hot, hot.

DH said he is having a garage sale on Friday. But, he hasn't been organizing it yet. This was spur of the moment and I am working. I wonder what he is going to sell?

Bunchin - Have a fabulous trip! We can't wait to hear all about it. Happy Birthday to Hunter, too!

Irish Dancer - Happy, Happy Birthday! Go out to eat!

Back to work!
Lori

Hi!

Lots to do today! Wish I didn't have a sinus headache. Grrr!

Thanks for the happy birthday wishes for Hunter. I'll make sure to pass them along to him. :goodvibes

piglet The Islamorada Fish Company is a nice place to eat. The bread they serve before the meal is yummy. We've eaten there a few times. If the weather is nice, eating outside is relaxing too.

irish dancer Happy birthday again to you!!

momto1 At least you won't be baking from the sun and heat while at the game. :thumbsup2

slo Sorry to hear the girls woke you up early.

I should get a movin'. I have so much to do today before we this afternoon.

Have a great rest of the week and weekend y'all! See ya on the other side! ;)

Hi to Chicago friends! I feel so out of the loop here, it's seems like forever since I've had a chance to post.

As you guys know, we've had kind of a rough year so far, with Mark's sister's death in January and then his brother's unexpected death in June. Thanks for your continued thoughts and prayers for our family!

On a happier note...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ID!!! Wishing you all good things!

And, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, HUNTER!!!! Hope your trip to DL is completely magical!!!

Momto1: Have a great time at the Sox game on Friday. Umm...I heard it's "mullet night". so is everyone going with the Billy Ray hairstyle?? ! :confused3

KimRaye..it's very difficult to see how MS affects people...I have two friends who have it, and also a cousin. I am glad you got to share some special moments with the BD ladies!

Slo, glad to hear the shop business is improving!!! And, you only had a "little" storm? Wow, we had a huge one here (at least it seemed that way when my little doggie wouldn't settle down and let me go back to sleep..lots of lightening, wind, rain, etc!). How does Sophie do in storms?

Bunchkin...I know you're on your way, but have a GREAT trip. You guys deserve to really spoil yourselves on this vacation, go for it!!

Hersey...I second the recommendation for Deerfields Bakery. I have heard good things about them (although when we do cakes, we do the Jewel cakes, actually, because I think they're pretty good, too!)

Mac..hope there was no rain at Ravinia? And, hope you are feeling okay??

Piglet...are there any Dover Straits by you? A friend who loves seafood says it's the best.

Geffric...I'm jealous of all the DIS meets (at WDW, no less!) you all have planned! I can't wait to hear all about them. And, yep, no dieting is allowed during vacation! (okay, Mac??)

EVERYONE...Have a great evening...please know I think about you, even if I don't post as often as everyone else...take care,

Donna

Red Lobster, if you have one near you. Garlic rolls and all they include before dinner makes you forget the small portions they serve. LOL Good Food tho! :thumbsup2
