It so doesn't feel like a Monday to me:upsidedow
I'm not used to being off work 3 days in a row - it's so weird!!!!!:upsidedow

Kevin and I had a nice night last night.
We went out for Mexican, and then came home for some leftover Christmas dessert, and we watched the movie, Righteous Kill, which was very good. I was releaved that this was a good movie after the bomb we watched the other night:laughing:

Thanks to everyone for their birthday wishes for Kevin :cake: I will have to show him your posts:)

Yesterday I got out the Wii Fit that I got for Christmas. I really enjoyed it, and was working out with it for about an hour. I was in my normal clothes though, so I wasn't working out very hard, but next week, when my workouts start again, I will work more seriously with it :thumbsup2 (I'm talking about this as I eat my Christmas cookie with my coffee:laughing: )

Mac - My mom is doing okay with the loss of Daisy, but my dad is not:sad2: He gets so confused, and is now afraid to be home alone. My mom had to have my brother come over to be with him yesterday, so she could go to her dog club. It's so hard to see my dad getting worse and worse everyday:guilty:

geffric - How did the boys do with their band concert last night? Did you go?

Bunchkin - I"m glad you were able to find some deals:thumbsup2 I almost bought some things for Christmas next year, but then I decided not to, until I purge things for the garage sale. So, I'll probably buy sale items next year.
**Kevin is now 38, and he is feeling a better, but not 100% yet. He is still sore from his fall - I feel bad for him:guilty:
**I'm so excited to see the Christmas trees, because I haven't seen them since I was a very little girl. My grandparents took me to see them, and I remember it very well - a good memory!!!!

Wendy - That's nice that you work in the nursery at church:goodvibes What religion are you, if you don't mind me asking?
**That's bummer about the game? I think you can definitly return it ::yes::

Rose - He's slowly recovering - he fell so hard - it was scary!!!!

Tiiiiiigernnnnnnnnn - I"m so glad you were off work for Christmas Eve and Day:) We always watch The Christmas Story while we are playing Santa too - it wouldn't be Christmas without it:upsidedow Do you have to work New Years Eve?

Well, I need to go get ready for the museum - have a good day today!!!

roseprincess, ya know, its never too late to write a TR. :) How is your wish child doing?

slo, we are Unitarian Universalists. Are church is a bit of a drive but we really enjoy it.

Well, I'm not feeling 100% today and my house still looks like a bomb went off in it. Grrrrr! Mick's taken Michael and Danae to Michael's therapy and then to the museum with orders for me to rest but I think I may overhaul the living room. I can't stand to see it that way. After I check my email of course.

We had a great day yesterday!!!

We got to the museum at approx. 10am, and we stayed there until approx. 2:30pm. About 1/4 of the museum was closed off for refurbishment, which bummed me out, but I guess they have to do it sometime:rolleyes: We really took our time looking at the Christmas trees, and I read everything I could about them - I learned quite a bit!!!! I actually read tons of information yesterday, and I learned alot - it was nice not having the girls to interrupt me :) I was disappointed and shocked about their food area - we didn't eat there, but we passed by there to used the bathrooms, and to see the race cars, and there were people/families all over the place having to eat on the floor:eek: I told Kevin that I would be so mad if we had to sit on the dirty floor to eat our overpriced food:mad: There was even elderly people sitting on the floor - it wasn't right!!!!!!:sad2: I'm sure with as much as they charge for parking and addmission, that they can buy some more tables.

So at 2:30 we left the museum and went downtown to park the car. We always park on Superior by Northwestern Hospital, because we feel this has a central location on where we like to go. We went to the Apple store, which was PACKED - no recession problems there!!!!! Then we went to The Disney Store, which was also busy - we bought nothing. We then walked to the new AG Store, which we really like!!!! We bought the girls a small something for their new dolls there. We then walked to Lou Malnati's which is located on Wells and Hubbard - it was a pretty long walk in the cold and wind. We ate to much there, and then walked back to our car :) This was our first visit to Lou Malnati's and we like it okay, but we agreed that we like Gino's East more (not that Lou Malnati's was bad, we will revisit there). Then we went and got the girls, and then came home to watch PoTC on abc - it was a good day!!!!

Wendy - I'm sorry you aren't feeling well:guilty: I hope you feel better soon:wizard:
**I've never heard of that religion, would you mind telling us about it - I love learning about different religions.

Well, I gotta go get ready for my 1/2 day of work. My mom is taking Stephanie and Sophie to the dog club today, which I think is great!!! I'm so happy that my mom wants to continue going to the dog club with Daisy gone, and is going to take Sophie in Daisy's place - very nice!!!!!:goodvibes

Have a good day everyone!!!

Happy Tuesday all!

DD has a holiday party to go to today for her Girl Scout Troop. Should be lots of fun for them.
Then we're going to take the kids to meet their new cousin. :goodvibes
Bought some little onesie outfits and blankets for him......there's not much to buy a baby when it's the 3rd one!! :)

slo Glad you had fun downtown! I love being able to read the info at the museums too. Did you know the museum is free New Years Eve?
We've eaten at that Lou's before too. Did you try the Lou salad? It's our favorite!! I think a lot of people are like you, they either like Lou's the best OR Gino's the best. :) I'm not a fan of Gino's sausage, so I like Lou's better. :) But I still go to Gino's on occasion.
That is great that your mom wants to take Sophie to her dog club...and Steph too! :cutie:
I'm a week older then Kevin!!!

wendygrace Have you contacted Amazon about canceling that order?

Tiggerrn That is great that you got both days off of work!!
Movies are on our list of things to do this weekend too. I want to see Benjamin Buttons and the kids want to see Bedtime Stories, Bolt or Desperaux.

mac Thanks for the listings!!

Need to run and get people in the shower!! :hippie:

Good Morning Everyone! :flower3: wow, I have a lot to catch up on! Xmas was nice, fairly low key. Other than that, I've just been crazy busy with work. My last day at W-S is New Years Day.:sad2: Every year, everyone ask me if I'm planning on staying on as a core associate and every year I have to tell them... "I would if the GM would change his availability requirement b/c I can't get here until 630pm during the week." They all think the policy is silly. Here is someone who WANTS to work weekends but isn't allowed b/c i don't have the proper M-F availability. Oh well, I understand and know that I'm always welcome there! It is an amazing place to work. Such a wonderful atmosphere.

Slo ~ I'm glad to hear you had a nice time downtown. I've never been to Lou Malnati's but saw the place on the Food Network the other day! Mark, Lou's son, was on Throw Down with Bobby Flay! It was quite fun to watch! :goodvibes

Wendy ~ welcome! hope you feel better soon!

Well, I suppose I should actually do some work
Have a wonderful day all! :flower3:

slo, sounds like you had a good day. You reminded me that I wanted to go and see all the Christmas trees. Perhaps we'll go this weekend. We personally like Gino's East better too.

UU's as we go by, were Christian-based but have no Universal Creed, per se. Our basic belief is that people have the right to believe whatever they want to. Our church is big on the journey to our personal truth. We have a mixture of Christians to Atheists and everything in between. I love it because I sure learn a lot. We also have a strong Humanitarian belief and do a lot of Social Service within our community and the world. There are a lot of famous UU's in history but most people haven't heard of us. As a side note, we're actually two beliefs (Unitarian and Universalists) that merged into one a century or so ago.

slo, I have tried to cancel the order but they wouldn't let me. I'm just gonna refuse the package and see what happens.

disneygal - some companies just don't make sense. I was working for a company that desperately needed people to work, especially afternoons, but since I could only work four out of the five days, they really didn't want me working. Go figure. And they really wanted me to work mornings and afternoons but they needed more people in the afternoons. Just didn't make any sense to me.

So when I was at Disney I bought the CD that has the music to the parades but the "Dreams Come True" parade music isn't on there and I was told it was. The parade music is the "Share your Dreams" parade from several years ago. Now I have to send it back. Any of you interested in it? It was like $22 or so. Otherwise, I'll probably mail it out on Monday for a refund. Blah! I hate returning stuff. Speaking of which, I picked up a four pack of lightbulbs today from Target and they don't work! I'd never heard of that. Is that weird or what?

So....what is everyone doing for New Year's tonight?
We always have our family and a couple of friends over to ring in the new year :dance3: We also celebrate Kevin's birthday tonight, so this is when he gets his cake and also his bday presents :cake: It's always a fun night!!!!

Does anyone besides me have to work today?
I could of had today off, but I chose to not work Friday instead:) So now I have a 4 day weekend:woohoo:

Is anyone watching the new tv show Leverage on TNT?
Kevin and I are really hooked on it - if you haven't watched it, give it a try :thumbsup2

Bunchkin - I hate Gino's sausage:scared: In fact, with age, I don't like sausage on any pizza, but I will tolerate it for other people's sake, but I don't think I could tolerate Ginos:sad2: The pizza that we got at Lou's was the "Lou" which is spinich, mushroom, and tomatoes :)
**How was the baby? New babies are always fun!!!!:goodvibes

DG - Have a good last day at your 2nd job :)
**I normally don't watch Throwdown, but I would have watched that ::yes::

Wendy - Your religion sounds very interesting - thank you for explaining it :)
**Once you get the item from Amazon, you can return it. Go on their website and they'll explain how to do it. My family and I were just discussing this on Christmas Day, when my mom was concerned a movie of hers was scratched. .I wouldn't refuse the item, because then when it goes back, you have nothing to give them to get your money back. Good luck!!!:wizard:

Well, it's time to get ready for work
Have a great day today, and for those who are celebrating the new year - have fun and be safe!!!!!

good morning chicagoland homies on this last day of the year.....
hope all are fine.

slo, you asked what are the homies doing tonight?
we have tickets for the 10 pm show at the apollo theatre/chgo for the Million Dollar Quartet.

mr mac really wanted to see this show before it leaves chgo and goes on the road to another city. i voted for jersey boys but got out voted...
i always thought when the vote was a tie, it was a tie :confused3

did anyone see the snow on their yards this morning?
yes, it is bbbbbaaaaaaacccccccckkkkkkkkkkkk

Happy New Year's Eve!!! :cool1:

We off to the store in a little while to get a few things for tonight....namely...snack food!! :teeth:

slo We normally make NYE a family night since the kids are old enough to stay up now. In fact, we haven't been 'out' for NYE since before we had kids. :) So we'll watch movies all night, play games (probably our new Wii too) and eat!! :goodvibes
Have fun tonight!!!
The new baby is soooo small! He was born a month early and is under 6 lbs. And he is starting to show signs he is getting jaundice. :(

mac Have a great time out tonight with Mr.Mac!!

disneygal That's too bad that WS is so strict with their rules!

Morning all! I wish these temps would find a spot to be and just stay there!!! All this up and down brings in too many pregnant folks!:lmao:
Slo, I missed answering your question about the Mammoth Crocs last week, sorry. I actually found them at Dick's Sporting Goods on sale for $25. Both kids love them. They have been wearing them around the house as slippers until the ice/slush/snow was gone and they could wear them outside.
I am off New Year's Eve, but have to be at work at 6:45AM New Year's Day, so there will be no late celebrating for me.:sad2: The kids wanted to go back to the water park to skate again this year like we did last year, but I am afraid it is too cold for that this year.
We watched Pirates on ABC the other night as well!:thumbsup2 The first one was my favorite.
Sorry to hear the museum had so much under rehab. At least you got to enjoy the trees. Every year I say I want to get there and to the zoo, and every year I miss them both. This year the weather was to cruddy for the zoo.
Bunchkin, my kids want to see Bedtime Stories, too. Seems like a bunch of good movies are out this week. I am hoping to go see Marley and Me this afternoon or Friday. I would like to see Seven Pounds and Benjamin Buttons as well, but these are not kid movies, so they will have to wait.
Mac, enjoy the show tonight. Sorry you were outvoted. I would prefer Jersey Boys myself. Too bad my vote doesn't count for you.;)
Wendy, I don't believe I have welcomed you yet, so welcome aboard and come by often. Good luck returning your item. I hate returns myself. That is why I mostly avoid online/catalog shopping.
Oh, how does anyone explain a Santa return? The digital camera my son got from Santa is broken-screw is bent on the inside and you can't close the battery door. And of course, they won't have them anymore, so I won't even be able to replace it. So now what? I never had to return a Santa present before. I just told Kyle I would just get him another one. Didn't explain what I would do with the broken one.:headache:
Well, I guess I had better get a move on my day. Yesterday I did all the sheets and laundry. Today I need to find a home for all the new items and clean out the closets of the old stuff.:rolleyes1 What's that rule? If you haven't worn it in a year? If it doesn't fit, get rid of it? That would about wipe out my wardrobe! I think I am living in my sweats and lounge pants. I hate winter!
Hi Rose, Leigh, geffric, ID, Hersey, Crissup, and everyone else.
Oh, I got a postcard yesterday for 40% off a value resort stay with many different date options to pick from. I wish I knew when DD ballet group was going this fall. I would add my extra days to the stay now. It has until March 31st to book it. So maybe I will get to use it yet.:woohoo:

Good Morning Everyone! :flower3: So I got up extra early to actually blow dry my hair and look all nice b/c mike and I are going out to dinner tonight. Our reservations are for 645pm and I'm working downtown today. My normal train (the 520pm) was canceled:scared1: we made the reservation for 645 b/c i usually get off the train about 615 and it would give me plenty of time for me to drop my car off at home and have mike pick me up. Soooo... I'm hoping I get out early and can catch the 435 or 510. After dinner we are going by my sister's to play Scrabble and Yatzee and what not. It will be nice! My dad said he's going to bed at 1030 (he most likely wont) but will go to my sister's for dinner!

Slo ~ see plans above! :) I don't normally watch Throwdown either, b/c I'm not a HUGE Bobby Flay fan but it was on and well, nothing else on tv at the time appealed to me!

Wendy ~ sorry to hear the CD wasn't what you expected. I hate returning things too. I always feel bad. As for the light bulbs, I'd give them a shake. If they make noise it means they are duds and you should totally get your money back. If they don't make any noise, i'd try them in a different lamp, maybe the one you tried them in needs a new cord or piece the bulb goes in. :confused3 Sorry!

Bunchy ~ I'm hoping the one coordinator (basically a manager) talks the GM into keeping me. She said she would b/c she thinks it's silly too!

Mac ~ Enjoy the show tonight! I saw you posted on the Weddings board the other day and went "hey I know that name!!" I'm easily excited!

Tigg ~ Good Luck with everything you have to get done!:wizard:

Everyone else ~ Have a wonderful safe New Years!:goodvibes

Greetings and Happy New Year.. I am working today but working at home..:surfweb: the train schedule is too crazy for me and I asked and they said ok..

Disneygal - my normal train is the 5:16 and that was cancelled to. Are you downtown all the time? I work downtown too..

What are we doing tonight.. well that varies by the minute.. Geoff was going to have a party but now he is not.. Eric is going to a party at a friend's house and DH and I will watch a few movies nothing special.. when the kids were little we had a picnic in the living room ( used a blanket to sit on) and had picnic dinner food.. played mummy wrap and a few other games and then settled into a board game. then off to bed and we would visit the science and industry museum early .. it was so empty we got a lot done..

MAC - have a great time tonight? How are you feeling ?? Are you able to get a round better??

HAPPY NEW YEARS>>>:cheer2:

disneygal, yea, katie on that wedding poll for her bouquet is a friend of mine.

her sister just got engaged also.

she is supposed to be sending out the invites.
i was told a long time ago, i'm on the list.

but a wedding in mid july at the motherland.........whew, everyone will be sweating...

geffric, i was doing better when i was taking the celebrex.
it has caused some unpleasant side effects so i had to go off of it 3 days ago. i'm better still but was a LOT better when i took those pills.
it killed all pain and reduced the swelling for the knee and leg

party:

Happy New Year everyone!!
I hope everyone has a healthy, happy and prosperous 2009!

Kiddos are all tucked in, off to bed myself. :flower3:

HNY26.gif

I hope everyone has a healthy and properous new year.

Alex and I went by my neighbors house last night and played a bunch of games. One of the game was Harry Potter clue, Akex got this one for christmas. That game was a lot of fun needless to say I lost.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!
I hope you all have a wonderful 2009!!!!

We had a fun night last night!!
While waiting for our company to come over, I played Wii Fit for 1 1/2 hours:eek: I love that thing!!!!! Poor Stephanie kept asking me if she could have a turn, and I kept saying, "Nope, my toy!!!":rotfl2: She finally gave up, and went upstairs:laughing:

Then when everyone came over, they wanted to try the Wii Fit - so that was fun!!! We had tons of food, so no one went home hungry, and we had a lot of good laughs, so no one went home crabby - it was a good night!!!!:thumbsup2

Today is one my most favorite days of the year, because I literally do nothing. After I'm done posting, I'm going to go put on my sweatpants, and go park on the couch all day:) I have a lot of leftover food items from last night, in the fridge, so I don't have to cook either:thumbsup2 Yep, today is a lazy day!!!! What are you all doing today????

Mac - How was the show last night? I hope you had a good time:)

Bunchkin - We have never been away from our children on New Years too. We had one year that we went to a friends (all 3 of us - I was newly pregnant with Katie), but outside of that, we've always been home :goodvibes
**I'm sorry to hear the baby is getting jaundice, but I'm sure he'll be okay:) . Stephanie had jaundice when she was a newborn, and I don't remember what they did to get it under control:rolleyes: I had jaundice once too - I'll never forget it. It was when I was in the hospital waiting for my gallbladder surgery. My sick gallbladder made my liver sick, and I turned jaundice - it was weird!!!!

TTTTTTTTTTTTigern - Did you go see Marley and Me yesterday? If so, how was it? I really want to see it too, but I want to read the book first (I don't know why I always feel the need to read the book first:confused: Do you havce any idea how many movies I've failed to see, because I say I want to read the book first:rolleyes: I need to stop saying that and just watch the darn movie:laughing: )
**I would of handled the return the same way you did. I would just say that I will replace it, and then say I was going to send one back to the North Pole. Stephanie would have accepted this, but I don't know about Katie - she's such a thinker:rolleyes:
**Thanks for letting me know about the Crocs!!

DG - Where did you go out to dinner? Sounds like you had a fun evening planned!!!:cool1:

geffric - Sounds like you had a nice quiet evening:) What movies did you watch?

HERSEY - Sounds like you had a nice evening :goodvibes You know, I've never really understood how to play Clue  I need to take this game out, now that I'm an adult, and figure out how to play it - I'm sure I will get it now ::yes:: When I was a kid, my mom couldn't figure it out, so she couldn't teach me how to play it, so it just sat in the box. I need to make figuring out how to play Clue a 2009 goal:thumbsup2

ID - :wave2:

Well, I'm off to start my nothing day.
I hope you all have a good New Years Day

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2009 to all here on the Chicago Diser thread!!!

Hope everyone had a safe and joyful NYE and have a safe and joyful New Years Day!

HAPPY NEW YEAR.....HAPPY 2009!!!
May 2009 be a better year for all of us and our families and friends!!! :goodvibes

slo Your day sounds great!! And your NYE sounds like it was fun too!
Today we have to run out for an errand or two and then I need to run to my mom's house. I have a large natural sun lamp here that I want to bring my sister for the new baby. Natural sun light is supposed to help jaundice they said.
Our kids....and Tony...have been playing our Wii quite a bit too! :)

disneygal Hope you were able to leave work early! Where did you go for dinner?

Hersey Oh, I want that HP Clue game!!! We already have 2 Clue games here but I'd still love to have the HP one!! ::yes::
Another great new game out, and Lauren got it for Christmas, is Pictureka!

Tiggerrn I'm waiting for the kids to go back to school so I can go see Benjamin Buttons! :thumbsup2
