I feel like I'm moving in slow motion this morning. I think it's because I slept really well last night, which I needed after not sleeping well the night before. I need to start moving faster though, because I have alot to do before I leave for work today. Plus, I need to leave early so I can go buy a ton of gift cards at Dunkin Donuts for all the teachers. Lots to do today!!!

Mac - :wave2:

Bunchkin - I need to renew my drivers license too. I was talking to Kevin on the phone one day, and my wallet was open, and then all of a sudden I lightly yelled to Kevin, "OMGosh my drivers license is expired!!!!!! " I had no idea:sad2: So that's on my "to do" list for after Christmas.
**I'm glad you go alot of wrapping done.
**My girls have always went to sleep since their first night home. I had a great music box for their crib that played lullabies or nature sounds, so when they were a new baby they would have the nature sounds, and then they had the lullabies when they were older babies. Then when they went into a bed, we got them a jambox, and they would listen to a CD or a book on tape. The music always has to be low key, so they can fall asleep easily. Katie generally listens to Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Barney, or some other Disney childrens music. Stephanie listens to Enya, Princess lullabies, and other CD's sorta like that. Right now they are listening to WLIT Christmas music, they are really liking that. They both have a Christmas CD, but they were bored with them. Katie started listening to her Mickey Family Christmas CD in October, so no wonder why she's bored with it:rolleyes: Sorry I made this so long:laughing:

ID - I'm glad your DS's play went well, and I hope your mom gets the knee replacement. That will help her alot!!!! Until then, I will continue to keep her in my thoughts and prayers.:wizard:

Tiiiiigernnnnnnnnnnnn - It was good to visit with you yesterday, and I'm glad you were able to find Kellies present.:)

HERSEY - :wave2:

Okay, times up - gotta run!!!
Have a great day everyone!!!

Not in Chicago, but I've been lucky enough to have met some of you. Hope everyone is doing well!

Stay safe with this weather coming!

:welcome: :welcome: leahannpen

you don't have to live in chicago to play on this thread.
i'm closer to milwaukee than chi town and i play here all the time....

heck, we have more than a couple that don't live in the city.
do stay with us
you'll like it here
this is a friendly bunch.
they let me in didn't they.......

Didn't get a lot of wrapping done today. And if there is school tomorrow I may not get much done then as I am helping out at DS's holiday party.

I went shopping this afternoon at Target. What a HUGE crowd there!! Worst part was that there weren't enough lanes open at the check-out. Why do they torture us like that??? :sad2:

slo There is a new driver's license facility by me and when I walked in there yesterday morning the place was empty!! There was 5 employees just sitting there waiting for someone to come in. Even with taking the vision test I was there less then 15 minutes!! :)
You know that if you get pulled over with an expired license the police can take you to jail? ::yes:: And it's at least $100 fine? ...and they won't let you leave on your own, someone will have to come and get you...and then your car!!!

Tiggerrn Is that mall far from you? What else is on Kellie's list?

Bunchkin ~ Where is the new facility? I usually go up to Orland when I need the SoS office.

bunchkin, so are you saying you had an expired license and the po po got you?

watched the tom skilling weather.
just when you think it is safe to go outside again, another storm coming thru later tonight.
some stations said 6 to 14 inches up here, others hold it to 12"

if you ski, then you would love the snow we are going to get.....

Morning all! Well not as much snow as was predicted. It sounds like more sleet and freezing rain oh yeah :rolleyes1

Alex has an extra day of holiday break today. I wonder how long my drive will be today? I should get moving and get a few minutes jump on it.

Mac Good thing you are taking this season off from shoveling. :thumbsup2 How's the old knee doing?

Bunchy Good thing you are all legal now ;) I hear you have to have your emission done before you can get your sticker for your plates.

Just checking in. We got our power back a little bit ago, but they already closed school for the younger two. It looks like Kevin's school will be running a delayed start as planned for finals.

Stay safe everyone.

What an icy wonderland we are having right now.
Stephanie has no school today, so she is very excited about that.
Kevin went to work today, and I am very nervous about that (he has a small car and doesn't handle bad weather, especially ice, very well).
Katie's daycare is still open, and she is very happy about that, because her holiday party is today, and she really didn't want to miss that. I'm glad too, because I have a lot to do at work, and I don't want to listen to them both bicker all day.

It's actually very pretty outside, but I'm a little nervous about the power lines as more weight from the ice gets on them. The FD has already been called out for a down power line, and I'm wondering how many are to follow. If the electricity goes out, my work day is over, which will really put me behind schedule.

So, how's the weather by you guys?

What are you all doing this weekend?
Tonight I am going to the town Christmas party (I wonder how many people will be there).
Tomorrow I work all day
Sunday I will go to work for awhile, and then we go to my inlaws for their extended family Christmas party.
So I have a busy weekend!!!!

leahannpen - :welcome:
Please come by and visit often - we would love to have you!!!!!:grouphug:

Mac - I saw on the news that you have gotten alot of snow. Is it still snowing now?

Bunchkin - Okay, you've officially freaked me out about driving around on my expired license:scared1:  I knew I could get a ticket, but I didn't think I could go to jail:eek: I'll go renew it next week when Allie (my college employee) is at work, so I can do it during the day:thumbsup2 Thanks for giving me the kick in the rear that I needed:)

piglet - :wave2:

HERSEY - Be careful going to and from work:wizard:

Well, I better get into the shower before/if we lose power.
Have a good day everyone, and please stay safe in this terrible weather :grouphug:

Morning mall..

Kids are home from school today.. snow day for them!! so they are sleeping. Taking bets on how long?? My guess is at least 11 am could be noon... ah teens on break...

i working from home - didn't want to brave the train today.. and DH is waiting for the snow plow to come before the driveway can be finished so he can get to work.. no rush.. I said he should work from home but he wasn't interested in that..

Tomorrow I am taking Eric and gf to the chocolate buffet and north MI ave .. i am looking forward to it..

Happy Icy Friday everyone! :flower3: thank you everyone for all the well wishes for my dad! the surgery went fine and he's home now but is trying to do too much! I shoveled the driveway yesterday in preparation for last nights ice storm. I'm going to have to head out there shortly to start breaking up the ice on my car and driveway so my dad doesn't try to do it. other than that. sorry for my absence on the boards recently. I've been quite busy! Can you believe xmas is only 6 days away... yikes! :scared1: well, i must get myself going. hope everyone has a safe weekend. try to stay in as much as possible!

.

how much snow did you get?
now i have to think on what part of the area you live in....

gonna be a slow recovery on the knee.
did the post op check up on wednesday(4 weeks) and have to have another post op check up in 6 weeks.

no matter what, i'm going to have to return to work in january.

that's awful to go without power.
i heard on the news that anyone that is 50 miles south of chicago should buy a generator as there will be many power outages today due to the ice they will receive. the hardest hit will be between joliet to springfield.
they started reporting for people to get the generators around noon on thursday.
glad things are getting back to normal for you.
hopefully you didn't lose much food during your outage.

So, how's the weather by you guys?

Mac - I saw on the news that you have gotten alot of snow. Is it still snowing now?

first time in 12 years all the schools here closed.

we got 10 inches so far. could get up to 14"

another front coming through to my area on sunday.

you better believe we will have a white christmas up here.

that is very good news the surgery went fine for your dad!

yup, christmas is around the corner.
just hoping christmas eve doesn't have icy snowy streets when i go shopping.

Hi gang! My neck of the woods didn't get but a dusting of snow and lots and lots of ice! DH and ds spent 11/2 hours breaking into my car. It was a Red Jeep Icecube. Only took 1 hour to get to work which is about usual. Everybody be safe!

Ds didn't have school today so he start winter break a day early. He probably won't be so happy next June when he has to go an extra day.

I made my final food shopping list and gift buying list last night. I am feeling pretty good. I have more baking to do, though.

I will be on vacation at home for the next 2 weeks. I will try to check in often.

mmmmmm.......waukegan rd, deerfield.....Carson's Ribs........
going there monday for lunch.......one of my all time favorite places!

Hey all.
Worked today! The drive was so joyful this morning. COUGH!!
Kids had no school. So DH had to find them a home for the day.:rotfl2:
Bunchkin, the mall is about 30 minutes away. No worse than Orland, really. Kellie also is looking for some new Webkinz, a MyMeebas, some DS games, and PIXOS. I really think she is a little old for some of this stuff, but it's really all she has asked for. Oh, and some furry CROCS. I found 2 different pair for her. One like the Beach ones and the other pair is like little Mary Janes with fur. Really cute. She will love them. I also got the HSM 3 soundtrack and some games for Wii.
Didn't someone say there was a recession? I think I have done my part to keep us out of the slump!
And for Kyle it has been Bakugan this and Bakugan that. And throw in a few games for Wii and DS for good measure. Boy needed some jeans, too. He grew. :headache:
Slo, hope you managed to enjoy your Christmas party today.
Mac, try to stay warm and inside out of trouble.:rolleyes1
Welcome to our new friends and Hello to all the other old friends out there. Need to get off to bed for now. DD has :dance3: in the morning. No rest for the weary here.

Hi guys! We had a snow day here too, even DH's office was closed. Calls started coming at 5:50a but I did get back to sleep for a bit. We're by Oakbrook Mall and probably got 5-6in.

DD11 went to a pizza party and to see Tales of Despereaux today with all the girls in her class. They have a pretty great group of girls and the parents are pretty good about having parties that include all the girls. She has a cookie decorating party on Sunday with them too.

Tiggerrn - thanks for the heads up on the Bendaroos, Hobart is quite a hike for me but thanks to the Budget board I found out that they have them at Walgreens so I picked up a box there.
*LOL, my DD wanted PIXOS and Webkinz too along with the Bendaroos! How old is your DD?

leahannpen - welcome to the thread! Hope you come by often!

piglet - glad you got your power back, that is always one of my fears in the winter. I can live without air in the summer but no heat in winter, no so much!

slo - hope you had fun at the Christmas party!
*I hope you still have power!
**Don't you kind of hate busy weekends? That was ours last weekend and it was over in a blink. I like some relaxation time on the weekends!

geffric - no teens here yet so mine were up by 8-9a but that's better than the usual 6:30a.
*Yumm, enjoy the chocolate buffet, hope you'll share a review.

disneygal - glad to hear things went well for your dad, I hope he follows orders and takes it easy.

mac - sorry the recovery is going slowly, how's PT going?

momto1 - I need to make my food shopping list too. I think I'm going to try and make that Main St. Bakery French Toast loaf for Christmas morning along with the potato casserole from either CRT or PSB. Both I can pre-make and just pop in the oven while we open presents.

susan - welcome to the thread! Jump right in and visit often!

:wave2: to everyone else!

It's another very early Saturday morning :faint:
I'm really looking forward to next weekend when I can sleep in everyday!!!!!:yay: :woohoo:
I"m going to try to get to work again by 7am - that worked out really well last week. I love being able to wear my ipod while I"m working - I feel like I work a little faster when I have my workout music playing:thumbsup2
I'm praying for some decent business today, because this is the last weekend, in many weekends that I have the potential for good business. After Christmas, I will be dead dead dead until spring.

The Christmas party last night was okay. I got there right before they started to serve the food, so that was good, because I was starving, because I didn't eat any lunch yesterday. They had a really bad comedian after dinner, and then a really loud band after him - this is when we left. I don't mind loud music when I'm at a bar or a club, but not a function like this. When I can't have a conversation with someone, that's a huge problem with me. Plus, there's several retirees, and they don't want to listen to that either :sad2: I hope they get better entertainment next year.

geffric - Have fun at the chocolate buffet today - yum!!!!:goodvibes

DG - I'm so glad your Dad is doing well!!! I will send lots of PD his way for a continued good recovery:wizard:

Mac - My girls would love love love all that snow!!!!!:cool1: I bet the kids in your area are having a blast!!!

momto1 - That's awesome that you will be on vacation for 2 weeks - good for you!!!!!:yay:

Susan514 - :welcome:
Please come by often and visit - we would love to get to know you!!!!:goodvibes

HERSEY - :wave2:

Tiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiigernn - Where did you find those mammoth Mary Jane Crocs?
Stephanie would love those too ::yes::

ID - Yes, I do hate super busy weekends ::yes:: But I can luckily say that this will be our last one for a quite awhile. I'm really looking forward to a couple of Sundays where I roll out of bed, eat some breakfast, put on some sweatpants, do a couple chores, and then sit in front of the tv all day watching movies:) Oh yes........how I look forward to it!!!!!!:goodvibes

Well, I better get ready for work - it's hard to get motivated when it's still dark out:rolleyes:
Have a good day today everyone!!!
