Good Tuesday afternoon to all!

I hope everyone is beginning to dry out a bit from the weekend storms. Thankfully, we didn't get much in our home, but the streets around us all were flooded. My brother wasn't quite as lucky and ended up with about 7" of water in his downstairs family room. :(

Continued prayers for all who are hurting in any way. And, thank you, again, for prayers for my sister in law. She is fighting hard with the chemotherapy & radiation treatments.

Wanted to let you guys know, I managed to find a permanent, part-time job! I am hoping that this one will be a good fit for me, it is weekday hours only, and close to home, so I am excited. I have also still been doing the temp job for the past few weeks, but it is winding down soon. I will be happy to just have one job!!

Welcome to our new friends! Please stop by often. Shout out to all, especially the lurkers!

Take care!

AND...

a very special shout out to:

BUNCHKIN!!!

:goodvibes Happy Anniversary to you and your DH!!! Enjoy your special day!:goodvibes

Happy Tuesday everyone!! Lovely weather we are having. Such a nice change from the rain.

Happy Anniversary BUNCHKIN!

I think the barometric pressure is messing with my head. :headache:

Happy Anniversary Bunchy!! :)

it's such an exhausting job, and for those, like Kevin, they get paid very very little, because its "volunteer". I'm so proud of them all!!!!!

I've always had a very healthy respect for emergency workers. They run in when everyone else is running out. They all put everyone else first and for that, they deserve all of our respect and gratitude!

Crissup - Isn't it unsettling when you see water up to a bridge:eek: We have several areas like that around our town.

I've been getting photos emailed to me all day from the Seneca area that Bunchy and I were talking about above. It's pretty bad.

HI peeps!!!

How's everyone??? :)

Thanks for all the "Happy Anniversaries"!!! :goodvibes

I've had a great day! DH came home with huge white roses that are pink on the edges and inside the arrangement was a little box!!! :yay: I was so suprised and clueless!!!! We don't normally exchange presents for our anniversary. He bought me a lovely ring!!! :lovestruc It's one that I looked at some time ago and mentioned to him about it. DD was with me when I looked at it, so she told him about it too.
I'm so suprised he remembered! :goodvibes I just love it!!! :yay:

slo Wow, I feel so sorry for Kevin. I hope he got to bed early tonight!
DH and I had a great time on Saturday even though it wasn't our original plans. It was just great to get out by OURSELVES for once!! ;)

Crissup Glad to hear that Woodsmoke is not affected. I forgot about them being higher than the rest of the city, but as soon as I read what you said I remembered that huge hill that you take from there into the city.

maiziezoe Welcome back!!! :wave2:

Donna I need to find a part time job like that, but it is soooo hard to find! I've looked!! ::yes::

Tiggerrn I don't think we'll all dry out for quite a while. :sad2: At least it should be warm tomorrow and it might start the drying out process.

disneygal I've never seen Ugly Betty either AND I didn't know it was based on a telenovela!!!

DMM Sorry to hear about your grandfather's home! :sad1:

irish dancer Do you mean to say that LTT will not be having characters any more in the near future? If so, I hadn't heard about that yet. I haven't be scanning the other boards lately that much.
13 years of marriage does fly by!!!! ::yes:: In fact, DH and I have been together for almost 20 years (as of this coming early 2009)!!! More than 1/2 my life!!!! :faint:

:wave2: to everyone else!!

Gotta run! I am beat! :faint:

Stephanie finally has school today - hooray!!!!:woohoo: :yay:
She's been really liking these days off, but I keep telling her that she has to make it up next summer, and we haven't even started winter. I told her to pray for no snow days, or she'll end up going to school for 1/2 of June

The water is receeding more and more around here, but the expressway is still closed. That means terrible terrible traffic. My store is by Route 30, which a major thoroughfare, and it is bumper to bumper, because all the expressway traffic is being diverted to Route 30. This unfortunately means very little business for all the businesses around Route 30 - no one wants to fight the traffic to come to our places. Even the food places are really slow at lunch time. I will be so excited when everything is cleared up, and everything goes back to normal.

DG - Have fun dogsitting :dog: Does your dog get along with your sisters dog?

DMM - I'm sorry to hear about your grandpas basement:guilty: Does he have flood insurance?

TTTTTTTTigern - Were you able to have soccer practice? That's great that you and your DH coach together:)

FWDWCEO - :wave2:

Donna - Congrats on your new job:cheer2: I hope it goes well for you!!

maizie - The sun is a very nice change :sunny:

Crissup - They really do run in and when everyone else is running out ::yes:: I could never do what he does. How is the river doing? Has it gone over the bridge?

Bunchkin - Tony is such a nice guy!!!!!:goodvibes I love roses (red are my personal favorite) and I love rings. What type of ring is it? Is it your birthstone, diamonds - I can hardly wait to see it!!!!!

Well, that's about it from me today
I have to work till 7pm, which is a bummer, but the last 2 days my employee worked, so I was really glad about that:) . I made a Beer Bread last night, so we are having that with some homemade soup that Kevin made Saturday for dinner tonight - so that's nice and simple:thumbsup2

Have a good day!!!!

morning everyone! Yay for wednesday already :)
Sandy, I would hate to be a kid with all that added school already and school has barely just begun :)

DMM - I'm sorry to hear about your grandpas basement Does he have flood insurance?

Yup, thank goodness. He has done all he can to prevent it, but unfortunately he lives downhill which means his driveway is just bringing the water right in. He has a giant sump pump and doesn't keep too much downstairs since he lives alone, so it's more of a clean up hassel than anything else :) He has started putting up a wall of bricks at the top of his driveway when the rain looks really bad and that worked this time, but it was the downstairs toilet that got water everywhere when the sewers backed up! haha!! So he can't win :sad2:

Morning everyone! I love to see the sun shining.
Today is :laundy: day here. I have heaps!!:rotfl: I opted to wait a few days to do any wash because of all the rain. We have never had problems with our septic, but our yard was pretty wet and I was afraid if the septic has any trouble that we would have a mess. So today it should be OK. I need to mow grass today too.:upsidedow Talk about green and long! It looks better now than it has all summer.
We did have soccer practice yesterday, but there were puddles on either side of the field. DH put cones around the area and told the kids to try to stear clear, but I swear that it just made the area a magnet for them. They seemed to kick the balls straight into the puddles (on purpose?):rolleyes1 .
DMM, I hope your grandpa doesn't have too much work to do.:sad2: I hate to think of what all the insurance premiums will do after this summer of destruction.:scared: I am betting they will increase immensely.
Bunchkin, Tony is so sweet. My DH barely remembers a card any more.

If anyone is interested, the Mom's Panel is taking new applications until Sept. 18th. I did one this year. Figured it couldn't hurt. I'll try anything for a chance to win a free trip.:rotfl2:

Well, I had better get a move on my day. I have been walking with a friend each morning-we take our dogs-about 4 miles. It really does seem to give me more energy for the rest of the day. And I need a Target run today! Plus DS poor toad needs some crickets. DS thinks I am out to do the toad in! So I had better be sure to get some food or if the toad "croaks", I will never hear the end of it.
Later.

Morning everyone!

Slo ~ I thought about your DH as I watched the news over the weekend.

Bunchkin ~ So nice of your hubby to bring flowers and a ring.

Work has been crazy, finally had some days off, and I loved it.

Good Morning Everyone! :flower3: it sure is beautiful out. I took my time getting work b/c it felt so nice to be outside! This needs to be quick b/c I desperately need to go get a Diet Coke.

Tiggern ~ "I had better be sure to get some food or if the toad "croaks", I will never hear the end of it." You crack me up! Hope you have a productive day! :wizard:

Slo ~ sorry the traffic around you is still nutty. here's to hoping it gets better real soon! :wizard: Bud gets along well with my sister's dog (Zion). I think it's b/c Bud is older and more laid back he doesn't mind. Zi is a good dog, very well behaved (he went to puppy preschool so he knows all his commands very well).

Bunchkin ~ Happy belated Anniversary! Ugly Betty is a great show. I definitely recommend it for a good laugh (it's a dra-medy)

Everyone else :wave2: have a fabulous day!

DMM, I hope your grandpa doesn't have too much work to do. I hate to think of what all the insurance premiums will do after this summer of destruction. I am betting they will increase immensely.

He's lucky that all his kids live so close and that they can help out alot. My dad works from home, so he can be there at the drop of a hat. Everyone pitched in over the weekend and it always turns out fun!

HI all!!

What great weather!!! Gosh, I love this time of year!!! Love, love autumn!! Even though it still is technically summer!!

I should be cleaning. But I thought the computer looked more interesting then the vac!!! I'll get to it later! :thumbsup2

We're thinking of going to WDW in early June to check out Wedding sites for our vow renewal. Has anyone gone in June? How is the weather then? :confused3

slo How many days was Steph out of school? It looked like the highway opened up earlier today, with free tolls too.
The ring is white gold, diamonds, in a square setting, and diamonds in the band too. Best description would be diamonds in a square setting shape surrounded by a seperate ring of diamonds in a square shape and then diamonds in the side bands itself. I love it! :lovestruc ....and Tony too!! :rotfl:
I made Beer Bread on Sunday, and the Tastefully Simple Caribbean cake. That is good!!

Tiggerrn Almost 20 years together, 13 of those married and most cards bought at the last minute on the day of the occasion!!! :rotfl2: The guys a procrastinator!!! He said he knew for weeks that he was buying me this ring and then he finally stopped on his way home from work yesterday to buy it!!! That is total procrastination!!!! Very typical DH. :goodvibes

disneygal How was the episodes with Lindsey Lohan? Were they as good as people talked about?

piglet Glad you got a few days off finally! ::yes::

DMM Good thing your grandfather doesn't keep much in his basement, thankfully!!

Crissup Here is the link to The Joliet Museum. Lots of neat events/trips coming up there.

Time to surf the DIS! :wave2:

Slo ~ I love beer bread. I haven't had any in a long time. What kind of soup did your hubby make? I'm glad your daughter got to go back to school today.

Tiggernn ~ what a great morning for a walk. After my daughter left for school, I had a passing thought to take a walk... but the thought was just passing. :) I giggled at the frog "croaking".

Everyone else ~ :flower3: Have a great afternoon!

I'm from Worth...just found this thread!
How's everyone doing??
We are heading back to WDW in exactly 33 days, but who's counting? lol
AND...we are down to 155 more days till our first Disney cruise.

Hi gang! What a lovely day! I was able to go out for lunch for a meeting today.

I just checked Southwest fares for my trip in 9 days. They dropped another 12 dollars so I rebooked and took the credit. I have saved $212 since my original booking. And I have saved a ton on my Alamo car rental by rebooking several times to get the best deal. I am pretty happy about the savings!

DS was back in school yesterday. The school district was still sending the automated messages last night about some of the bus routes still not being accessible.

Did you all hear about the closing of Brookfield Zoo? They were afraid some of the animals could swim away since the outdoor exhibits that had moats were full of water! Crazy!

Bunchkin and Crissup - I second the Joliet museum. Great museum! DS likes to go about once a year. They are closed on Monday's though.

Bunchkin -Your ring sounds beautiful! What a sweet hubby!

Welcome to maiziezoe and disneydarling07! We love new friends. Come visit us often.

To everyone else - Hi! Hope your are having a great day!
Lori

Hello all! Thought I would stop to chat for a minute before I start dinner.

I am soo glad the rain has gone. Luckily it seems to be drying out around here no rain got in my basement very good:thumbsup2. My neighbors basement is finally dry but they will have some cleanup. I talked to them and they will handle it when they return.

Bunchkin Happy aniversary a little late. [

Hi, all! I have been following but haven't had time to post. Now, there's too much to comment on. I need one of Mac's catch all, cliff notes posts!
Glad most of you weren't affected byt the rain too badly. It could've been a lot worse. Slo-Thanks to your dh and all those in public service (my dad is a cop). They make everything a lot safer for all of us!
Anyway, I was supposed to take ds on an archaeology overnight, but it got cancelled. The excavation sites were filled with water! It is rescheduled, but he was a little sad. We had a nice, albeit, wet weekend.
bunchkin- What a nice dh! Mine loves to buy jewelery, too, so I can't complain!
disneydarling- You need to addsome tickers to your siggy and watch those days fly by.
momto- Didn't know you could rebook and stuff like that. I probably could have saved myself some money.
maiziezoe- Just contemplating a walk should account for something, right?
dgal- I loveme some Diet Coke, too. It is just so sdarn refreshing sometimes.
Newbies/returning peeps...Welcome/welcome back!

Gotta' do some homework. I traded shifts at work, so I got to stay home today. I have cold, and no customer wants a stuffy, sneezing waitress!
Later!

Evening all. Got all but the mowing done. No gas!!
Paint, I thought of you today.:flower3: I went to Lucky Burrito for lunch.:thumbsup2 I was dying for some Mexican rice and a real taco. They were awesome as usual.
Hope you all had a great day. Can't stay here long-burgers on the grill. They go up fast if you don't watch 'em.
Oh, and toad's fed.

futureWDWCEO - Welcome to the DIS, the Chicago thread and Chicago! My DBro & SIL live near Seattle.
*I know what you mean about the Doorway to Dreams store, when they had the first member event we did an add on. DH was tempted again this year at the Anniversary event. Be very, very wary of those Member Events they have, always very tempting.......

I totally missed this during my reading yesterday. I guess that's what I happens when you surf the boards at work.:rolleyes1

Seattle is great!!!! But good thing I got out of all that rain. :rotfl: I swear it rains more here...it just does it all at once.

I think we caught the tailend of that Anniversary event. Well, the event was over, but the incentives were still being offered. We were just going in to check it out. It was more of a "maybe a year or two down the road we'll be ready"....well...as you can see that didn't quite go as planned.

Tig- Oh, yum! I think the last time I went there was with you, since I moved right after that. Many fond memories of that place...dh and I used to go there or Quizno's after class at good 'ol GSU.
