Calling all Chicago DISers #2

Good morning all.
Well, spent all yesterday in bed. Food poisoning!!! Don't eat the Market Day Orange Roughy!!! Had that for dinner Monday night and within 2 hours, just knew I shouldn't have. Today, just feeling like a wet dishrag. Have to take my mom's friend back to O'Hare Airport this afternoon. Not looking forward to that either.:sad2: I may go back to bed for a nap before I have to leave.
DMM hope the kiddies are better soon. That flu sure is making its' rounds.
Paint, BOMA is wonderful. Many people love the Zebra Domes. I thought they were a little rich, but I am not the dessert lover (chips, on the other hand, do me in:rolleyes1 )and don't care for rich, sweet stuff. There are tons of desserts to choose from. I loved the soup and they made a wonderful rice dish with carrots and coconut. Plus, I just love that resort.
Well everyone, have a great day. Enjoy the sunshine and the warmer temps. Hopefully, I will get out with the dog tomorrow before the temps drop again. I need spring already!!!! :)

Tiggern2 ~ Sorry to hear you got sick. Are you going to call Market Day?

Hi!! :wave2:

Second day in a row with utility problems here. Monday was the water pressure and the city had to come out. And some time yesterday our phone went out and we didn't know it until SamIAm called my cell phone and said all the phone did was ring and ring.
So a short while ago the phone people came out and worked on the line, it was dead. That's the 3rd or 4th time that has happened since we moved in the new house.
I wonder what utility issues today will bring??? :rolleyes1

momto1 Is your 6th graders class studying something in relation to Medevil Times era??
All my 4th graders field trips are in relation to something they are studying, but there are just too many of them as far as I'm concerned.
There are lots of good packing lists on the web. There used to be one here on the DIS.

DMM Sorry to hear the kids are sick.

slo We have had those soups from Market Day. But I have found better tasting ones at Super Walmart, so we've been getting them from their instead.
Almost every day Lauren's school is sending something home that requires money!!
You should think of going to the AG sale one year.

traces Dinner at AGP usually has a decent selection to choose from. the standard kids selections they offer: chicken fingers, pizza, and the mini hotdog/hamburger combo or pasta. Then for the adults usually a chicken dish, large salad dish, possibly a fish, possibly a beef dish, and a pasta dish. And depending on how late the store closes, if you linger in the store you could be one of the last to leave. And it's so nice there when it's all quiet and empty!! :)
We went to the AG benefit sale last summer. We went twice on Sat. I had a 7:30 ticket for myself, and then all of us went back at 11:15. It worked out great. And I had read a lot about what goes on at the sale ahead of time so I knew to really look over the things we bought first! :thumbsup2
Are you going this year?

piglet Hope your son's feeling better soon!!

Tiggerrn Did the whole family eat the fish and get sick? If not, maybe it wasn't food poisoning. Maybe a touch of the stomach flu?
Good luck going to the airport today!!

mac Hawaii sounds nice! That's one of the only states I haven't been to, besides Alaska of course. Other than that I've been to almost them all.

Does anybody know off hand how long it takes to get to the resort if you are using the magical express? Our flight lands at noon thirty. I am trying to make my itineraries and whatnot and want to make sure I have enough time to get from point a to point b... I know this is a chicago thread and all but I feel like i've been looking all over the boards for the answer and can't seem to find it... :confused3 TIA!

I usually give myself around 2 hours to get through the airport get to ME and then to the resort and checkin. Most times when we get to the magical express desk you have a short wait then to the busses.

DMM- Hope your little one is better soon! Too many nasty things going around. We all need fresh air!
Traces- Save room for dessert and head to The Cheesecake Factory!
tiggerrn- No such thing as too rich for me. You are like ds. He'd take chips over chocolate any day!
mac- Fat? Nah. We need the insulation here in IL!

woohoo! We got a special offer code from WDW! The only thing is, it does not take affect until mid- Aug and it is going to be tough to work around dfiance's school schedule. They start early and he has to be in even earlier to start setting up. He is checking today, though! I hope we can go. It will stink to have to hold off on the honeymoon, but we will have more spending money if we do!

I agree with Hersey. It usually takes an hour and a half to two hours.
And that depends on what resort you're going to and how many other places it stops first. But the line at the ME desk is quick to go through itself.
I have seen lines for waiting for the buses, but we have never had a long wait to board the bus. I've seen real long lines for the buses that go to the Values however.

That's great!! Hopefully you'll be able to go before school starts! :)
We only got a code offer once many, many years ago. And couldn't use it!
My theory is: The more you go to WDW, the less likely they will send you a code. They figure that you come so often that you'll be coming back regardless!!!

:surfweb:

No weird dreams to report this morning:upsidedow

traces - I haven't seen the submarine or the coal mine since I was a child. I have such vivid memories of my grandpa taking me on the coal mine, and I just hated it - I thought it was the most boring thing ever!!!! I should try and see it now as an adult - I would probably have a much different opinion:)

piglet - I"m sorry to hear your DS isn't feeling well. I hope he feels better soon:wizard:

Mac - Where in Hawaii does he live? I went to Hawaii with my Grandma when I was 15, and I would love to go back with my family. Kevin and figure that when the girls are older, we'll definitly go :thumbsup2

disneygal - Thanks for letting us know about the bus tour. Maybe Kevin and I could take the girls on that this summer - they would enjoy the ride, and Kevin and I would enjoy the information :thumbsup2

Tigggggggern - I'm so sorry to hear about you all being sick:sick: Did the Orange Roughe (sp?) taste bad to you? I've never had that fish, so I wouldn't know if it was bad or not. I would definitly call Market Day and complain so they can not sell it to anyone else. Here's some PD so you all feel better soon:wizard: :wizard:

Bunchkin - Any utility issues yesterday? I hope not - what a pain for you!!!:headache:
**I would like to go to that sale sometime ::yes:: I think Stephanie and I would have a great time!!! :goodvibes

HERSEY - :wave2:

paint - What did your DFiance find out about the date? I hope everything works out for you both :wizard:

Well, I gotta run and get ready to eat
Katie and I need to leave early today to make a frame delivery before we go to the store.
Have a good day today everyone - it looks like it'll be beautiful today :sunny:

Morning! Nathan went to school today :cool1:

Do anyone of you recall the exhibit/ride at MSI where you listened on the little phones? The cars were kinda like those at the Haunted Mansion, buggy style. I have vague recollections of it, but can not recall what it was about.

Morning all!

Busy day yesterday so I didn't DIS much.....

:wizard: :wizard: to all those that are sick.

mac - I'd LOVE to go back to Hawaii. DH had a training there back in 1998, got to go along :goodvibes . It was the best vaca ever! So beautiful and relaxing.

Bunchkin - thanks for the info on the sale, could be dangerous though ;) .

Well, off to make some soda bread to bring to DS school tomorrow. I'm going in to talk about Ireland tomorrow. Maybe I'll start packing too - 9 days til HHI!!

Good Morning!

Got a mailer from Metra with an offer for 2 free tickets to ride, just for completing a short survey!!
I love free!

slo No, thankfully, I didn't have any utility issues yesterday!!! But all day I kept waiting to see what would happen next!! :)
The AG sale is really nice, and big. I'm sure you and Steph would have a good time. The hotel we are staying at is a 5-10 minute drive from the sale and right near a large mall/restaurants.
We almost made ressies at a different hotel that claims to have a really nice "waterpark" in the pool area, but after checking it out on the Trip Advisor web site we decided not to go with it. I'm so glad we checked that out first. Very misleading info on the hotel's part.
The hotel we are staying at has a nice themed pool for the kids to enjoy.

Good Morning Everyone! :flower3: Hope everyone has plans to enjoy this beautiful day! While I'm stuck behind my desk now...I plan to go out for lunch today! I love spring, definitely my favorite time of year! :)

Hersey and Bunchkin~ Thanks for the advice I think I'm going to plan on a 3:15 departure from the resort to Epcot! That way if we get there sooner, it will be more time in the park :goodvibes

Piglet~ I'm glad your ds is feeling better and was able to go to school today!

Well, off to a meeting I go! Have a good day everyone!

Nathan went to school today :cool1:

That's good to hear!

The sale can be dangerous!! But I did save a good part of what I bought and split it between DD's last b-day and this past Christmas. Which she was fine with and actually forgot about some of the things we bought!! :teeth:

I'm so glad you mentioned baking!!!!!!!
I let it slip my mind that I need to go bake cookies for DD's after school club today and deliver them!!!!

Good morning everybody! Now this weather is more like it! I thought I was leaving work early today but my meeting got cancelled so I am stuck in the office. At least I have big windows to look out of!

Mac - Have fun visiting your bro. That sounds absolutely wonderful!

I am packing slow but sure. As I wash some of ds clothes in the suitcase they go.

Just a quick "hi" today.
Lori

I have the day off today!!!!
:cool1:  :woohoo: :yay: :dance3: :cheer2:

My college employee is home, and is working all day :thumbsup2
So, I'm going to the mall to shop for the girls Easter Baskets, and I'd like to find a dress for me to wear for STephanie's First Communion. I'm so excited to be going alone :woohoo: I know this may seem like a trivial thing to be excited about - but I really am!!!!:yay:

piglet - OMgosh, I definitly remember that!!!! It was sorta by the Coal Mine. I loved that, and I remember going on it with my grandparents. I don't remember what it was called, or even what we saw, I just remember it being there ::yes::
**I'm glad Nathan is feeling better!!!!:)

ID - Can you post the receipe for Soda Bread? I have heard of it before, but I don't know anything about it.

Bunchkin - You guys are going to have such a good time:) !!!! I'm debating right now if I should go with Kevin that same weekend to Indy. He's taking his Mustang to a big car show, and if the girls and I go with, we can veg out by the pool, or go shopping. I need to make a decision soon.

DG (my abbrev for Disneygal) - I hope you enjoyed going out to lunch yesterday :sunny:

momto1 - Where do you work downtown?

Well, I gotta go get ready for the mall - yea!!!!:woohoo:
Have a good day today everyone!!!

Happy Friday Everyone!! :mickeyjum

We watched Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium last night. Has anyone else seen this movie? Too cute!!

So let me add to my complaint of handing out even more money here this week for DD's activities. I forgot to add Girl Scout events and field trips to that list I had!! There is a bowling event for the girls and dads, and a mom/daughter event to see Wicked.
Oh well! What are you going to do? ;)

slo Have fun at the mall! I usually go while the kids are in school too. It's too much of a hassle to go on the weekends, too many people to deal with.
I was just thinking last night about what I want to put in the kid's Easter baskets this year. I'm really tired of all the little stuff that ends up in the baskets. All the little toys or do-dads that never get played with much after Easter.
That's great your college employee is back home and can work!!! Let's just hope she doesn't call you a million times today!!!  :thumbsup2

disneygal You're brave for planning on going to a park on your first day! We tried this in the past and it just doesn't work out for us. So now we just plan a low-key first day, maybe a meal and DTD or pool time.
Traveling really wipes my kids out for some reason.

Good Morning Everyone and Happy Friday! :flower3: This week has been extremely long for some reason. I was so excited last night when my train pulled in to Tinley and it was still light outside!! I always feel less tired in the spring and summer, but I think that is normal. So I got home, and finished both my projects that are due next Monday and Tuesday (I am taking night classes so I can get a degree in Interior Design!). Therefore giving me the weekend to go shopping for my trip! I need some new spring and summer clothes in a bad way! Anybody know of any good sales going on this weekend?

slo - my lunch was very nice! i work right next to the river downtown so it was nice to just walk around after!

bunchkin - it is just my boyfriend and myself going and we are only there for 3 full days and 2 half days. there is so much we want to see and do! i figured we wouldn't do anything too extensive. We have a ADR at Tutto Italiano that evening so we will probably just take our time getting there and probably catch illuminations or something. my itineraries are just basically guidelines! oh and i'm glad to hear you liked Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium! I wanted to see that so you've convinced me!
