Calling all Chicago DISers #2

Can't anyone ever call their drs. office first for some advice before they run to the ER for the flu. HELLO, unless you are dehydrated, you will recover fine AT HOME!!! We don't want to share your disease!!!!

Why no -- why call the doctor when I can just ask here on this thread and get a good idea of what's going on!

Luckily, we don't get sick very often but it never fails it's either it gets worse after the doctor's office is closed, on a weekend OR the last time I had strep throat, I called during office hours and the doctor was on vacation for a week so off to the urgent care clinic I go.

I'm not pregnant though and I try to avoid ER rooms as much as possible even when I WAS. I always have weird non-normal symptoms of things so I get tired of the "she is nuts" looks they give when describing something of why I'm there.

Nothing much is going on here, just lots of researching our 2010 trip. I think I need to win the lottery. That would certainly help things along. I'm thinking of doing *shhh* (VIP tour) hopefully I did that right for DD's birthday. There isn't a lot of reviews out there. A few though that I have gotten good info from but always the researching in me wants more, more, more.

Hi gang! Geez... I take a couple days off and I can barely catch up! We are so chatty here!

I just found out that I am going to Washington, DC for a conference in 2 weeks. My co-worker was going but isn't now. He is the co-worker who daughter goes to NIU. She tried to OD the day after the shooting - partially related to the shooting, mostly not though. So, off to DC I go for 4 days. By the way, I don't like to fly and will perseverate on this for the next 2 weeks. I love DC though and have relatives in Northern Virginia, so it will be a nice trip all in all.

This is a late day at work for me. My once a month evening meeting. I forgot to put anything in the crock pot this morning like I had planned. On to plan B for supper, whatever that will be.

Even though my ticker says 1 month and 1 day until Disney - it is only 30 days from today! I am so ready. I think we will be going back in September. DH and DS are seriously considering doing the Expedition Everest challenge. Mom and I were going back anyway. We will then stay a couple extra days and do Food and Wine. Let's hope this goes as planned.

DS baseball team is doing a fundraising candle light bowl on February 29th. If anybodylikes to bowl, wants a chance to bid on great baskets, or just can't wait to support Plainfield Warriors Baseball, let me know! I dread these types of things but they are usually fun in the end!

Saturday is Solo And Enesemble contest for ds. He practices with his accompanists tonight. He seems pretty ready. He has no idea what to expect though.

Thank to all that asked about Stephanie She woke up yesterday morning, and said her stomach didn't hurt as much. So she ate a PopTart, and then said her stomach hurt again She didn't ask to stay home, and I didn't offer, so off she went. She made it through school okay I was so nervous about her being sick, because she has her surgery Friday, and I didn't want to reschedule.


tmq - I"m so glad to hear that Jen did okay on Monday, but the hardest part for her will be when she goes places that she went with her friend, and is doing things that she would do with her friend, more than the funeral itself (at least that's how I was after my grandma passed away unexpectedly). I will keep her in my thoughts and prayers, and continue sending hugs her way, because I understand what it's like to lose someone unexpectedly

DMM - That must of been hard to have everyone, except Autumn, sick at the same time. You've really had your hands full lately

Tigggerrnnnnnn - Luckily, Stephanie's never said she didn't feel good to stay home from school (knock on wood). I really do believe that she had a bad stomachache last night, because she had the most concerned look on her face, and she was shaking. Whatever it was, is gone now - thank goodness!!!

Mac - I love how you say "inside this box" It sounds so warm and fuzzy

Bunchkin - Katie is doing much better - thanks for asking!!! She is still sleeping with a vaporizer, but I stopped giving her all medications yesterday

Morning! Sorry to hear about all of the illnesses going around. I woke up with my eye glued shut- pink eye! I am staying home from class, but my boss still wants me to go to work. NIU- What a terrible tragedy. I just don't get it...Dfiance taught a girl who was in Cole that day. She ended up with pellets in her hand.

Good morning everyone!




DD is home sick today. Hopefully she won't give it back to her brother.

Furnace went crazy last night. It started emitting a screeching noise at 2am-ish!!! Not fun!!! Woke up DD too as the noise was traveling through the vents.
Got it to stop making noise for a while but then it started up again and then ended.
DH already called a friend about it and he thinks something may be caught in the blower motor. I think he looked at it, but I'm not sure.
Needless to say we got very little sleep. Which is also part of the reason I kept DD home from school too.





slo Hope Kevin has a safe flight today!!! Boy is he in for a shock with the weather!!
Hopefully Stephaine's stomach won't give her any more problems.
Good to hear Katie is better too.


paint Read your other thread. Sorry to hear what's going on! But I think you made the right decision in calling it quits with her.
I can't imagine what you're going through. I'm sure it will all work out and you'll have a lovely wedding!!!

Hey Everyone!!

Sorry for being MIA this last week. Been a bit busy and a bit aggravated so I've been lurking til I could get my head around a recent happening. On Sunday, we had a mass for DH's Mom who passed last month. Afterward, we had coffee and donuts at my father in laws house. Now y'all remember me and two of my sister in laws had plans to go to Savannah in late April. Well, one of my sister in laws decides she has to back out of the trip. I can't figure out why because the last we talked about it, she was still all gung ho and couldn't wait to eat at Paula Deen's etc.

Get this... here's where it gets good. She is backing out because she had a bad dream and it included the time 6:30 p.m. and that is our flight time for leaving Savannah. Now I was just about to pop a vein when she told me this because I have made ALL the plans for this vacation including putting the airline tickets on my VISA.

Canceling the extra hotel room was no problem, but canceling the airline reservation is going to cost $75. She will be giving me that money. I have never in all my born days heard such an assinine excuse. I even said, realizing you can't afford to go is a bummer, but okay understandable. Having to put new tires on your car is a good excuse, disappointing, but understandable. Having a bad dream and now you can't go??? PRICELESS, and not in a good way. So, that's what I've been up against these last couple of days. My DH's family is full of loons!

So, now I have a bad taste in my mouth and would rather not go AT ALL, but my other sister in law really wants to go and I hate to disappoint her as she never really gets to go anywhere! Her DH is a workaholic and short of their honeymoon, they never get to take a vacation! So, I'm going, against my better judgement and if anything happens at 6:30 on 5/4/08, please locate my sister in law and throttle her for me!!

Hi Everyone!! Been busy, so haven't been keeping up for the past week. Hope everyone is doing well.

Finally took my certification exams from the wireless networking class I took in November. I successfully passed the certification exams yesterday for the GAWN (GIAC Assessing Wireless Networks) certification. Basically, it means I'm now certified in assessing and securing wireless networks. Lots of fun!

John, did you just study for these with books or online or did you have to go to a course through a college? DH needs to get busy getting some certs. His BS in computers isn't all these companies are looking for. They want certs, too.
Paint, I am with the majority on the other thread. Just do without her and have 2 of the guys escort the last girl in. (And leave the other one stuck with, and paying for, the dress. )
Sam, I feel for you. Sometimes people just don't realize they are being inconsiderate. I don't know what it is. Where has all the kindness and basic descency gone in this world. (I think it is all here in our box.)
tmq, glad your DD seems to be doing well. Keep an eye on her. She'll need you to be there for her more than she realizes.
momto1, be sure to keep a good record of your trip. We will all be expecting a detailed report upon your return (with pix, of course.)
Enjoying the eclipse watching. DD had to get some info for a little report, so we watched and I pulled up some info online.

Kevin made it home okay yesterday, and it's good to have him home
He came home with many goodies for all of us, one being my favorite rice krispie treat from The Candy Cauldron in DTD He also brought home some caramel apples from there, and I can hardly wait to try one after dinner tonight


paint - I'm sorry to hear about your eye I've had a lot of experience with this, and it stinks!!! Remember to throw away all your eye makeup, change your pillowcase every night, and don't share towels with the rest of your family. I hope it goes away soon, and doesn't spread to the other eye
**I'm also sorry to hear of the bridesmaid that quit My opinion is, if you have someone that you became friends with after you choose the bridesmaids, than I would ask them. If you don't, than I would just have 2 groomsmen walk the last bridesmaid down the isle (that's probably what you would do if a bridesmaid was super sick on the day of your wedding and couldn't be there). Try not to be to upset - this is your special day, and don't let anyone ruin that for you!!!

Morning all. Not much going on here. It's freezing and I'm off to work, so nothing new there. I'm really starting to get cabin fever. A few weeks ago my DD and I started watching all the Disney animated classics starting with Snow White. We're now up to The Sword in the Stone (#18). We're really enjoying going back and watching all the movies in order, but we're also really antsy to get out do something once warmer weather rolls around. She keeps singing "Snow, snow, go away, come again another day!"

DD is still sick so she's home again from school. I can't send her to school with all the coughing and blowing of the nose that she's doing. She's soooo congested! Where does all this mucus come from?? Yuck!
I will have to go pick up her homework later today for her.



slo That's nice that Kevin brought you home some yummy treats! But what was he doing on Disney property without the whole family??!!
Our furnace sounded like an extremely loud whistling tea pot!!!
It hasn't made the noise since. But Tony is going to pull the motor out today to look it over. It shouldn't be giving us problems as it's only almost 3 years old!!!!!!!!!

DS ~ I love that movie! My team in WPASADI did a prequel for that last year, so we got to know it very well.

Slo ~ Glad he made it home safe, and brought goodies even. A friend on the Angel thread had her DH at Daytona too. He is a Air Force pilot and he and a buddy were there overnight and said they kept getting a lot of attention in their flight suits, so they finally had to change.

Bunchkin ~ Hope she gets to feeling better fast. My DS Kevin had that right at Christmas and went through, I am not kidding, 4 boxes of tissue in a day.

On Saturday we brought my Mom some stuff from Edible Arrangements, and she said the chocolate covered pineapple was the best thing she had eaten in a long time.

Took Geoff College shopping over the weekend. We went to Earlham in Richmond IN and then to Bradley in Peoria. There was no snow NO SNOW until we hit route 30 and I55.. no snow.. we have so much snow that you can barely see around it.


gonna ketchup somewhat and be back.. O BTW I have a job interview this afternoon.. hope it goes well.. last Friday I got my worksheet for the 2008 year and they have cut my commission percent BIG time.. it is like a $10,000 decrease in salary. . ***?? I can't aford to work there any more.
