Which Hackney's?? The one in Wilmette or Lake Zurich?? Is there another one?? I do love Hackney's though.. the black bread that falls apart while your trying to eat the burger and makes a mess on my hands.. and the onion rings.. YUMMY!!!

There is one in Palos Park on LaGrange Rd & 123rd. Didn't get the burger, should have. I was trying to be a little healthy and got the chicken/pasta dish but I think they used an entire pound of butter, it was swimming in it! Next time I'll just get the blue cheese burger, it sure looked good!

Zero - glad to hear the recital went well. DD6 has been doing ballet for a year but we were in Disney last year and missed the recital, they have one only every other year so no recital this year, darn ;) .

Bunchkin - we have the Haunted Mansion Clue, it is fun. Our kids are a little young for it but they certainly have a great time making up their own game with the board and game pieces  .

It's raining steadily here, glad it isn't white stuff though. Can't wait for the sun to come out :rolleyes1 .

Hi gang! I'm back and sorry to say that I couldn't bring back the nice weather with me. We had a good time and, of course, didn't want to come home!

Welcome home to our other travelers!

Happy Birthday to our birthday boys!

Becky - Hang in there! Geez...

I am sure ds doesn't believe in SC or EB but I keep it up. We like to make him wonder and it is still can be magical. He won't tell us he doensn't believe for fear of losing a good thing!

To everbody else, may your day bring good thinks.

Go Cubbies...
Lori

Good morning all!

Well, back to "normal" again. Kids are up, dressed, breakfast eaten and off to school. Would have LOVED to crawl back into bed for a while but I watch my DSis's 2yr old a few days a week and her 10 & 12yr olds are off on break this week so I sent my 3 off to school and got her three  .

mac - thanks for the show info. I think I've seen them all, lol. Really looking forward to Samantha Brown's new ones.

slo - I hear you on getting back in gear. Thankfully we came home with clean clothes so I don't have a mountain of laundry but my 1st floor looks like a bomb went off  . Everything got dragged out of the car and dumped in the hall and living room :scared: .

Some of you might have noticed that my ticker for our Oct trip has disappeared, have no fear we're still going :) . It is a suprise trip for our kids, they know nothing :rolleyes1 . They've taken an interest in my posting and want to see all the pics and smilies so I deleted my ticker so they won't see :ssst: . Our ADR window opens next week so I've got to get planning. We're trying AKV concierge so they'll make all my ADRs and such so I've got to get them worked out. Oh darn, guess I'll have to research on-line a lot this week :rotfl: .

Well, off to get dressed and start putting some order in this house! Have a great day everyone!

i forgot school started back today.
when i got my call for work at 5:45 this morning, i told the sub clerk i'm still on vacay.....

i am 185 days out for my motherland trip.
when will yours be?

maybe you will be there the same time i am.
if so, we have to meet up for a few minutes and stand there and grin at each other for 5 minutes.........

Had family over last night to celebrate my birthday. It's actually today, but last night was easier for everyone since it was Sunday. Got some new shirts and some other nice things. We ordered pizzas from a new pizzaria down the street I've been wanting to try. Very good. They've actually been open in Naperville for over 20 years, but I'd never tried them. They're called Pieroni's.

So, off to work. I think all companies should give your birthday off, don't you all? Maybe we need to start an uprising or something. ;)

Have a great day all!!

john........

i am so happy you like the disney show listings.

i love helping out and sharing disney fun with all of you.

glad to hear the recital went fine.
gold fish rule.............

I just pulled a chocolate cake from the oven that the kids and I made. :goodvibes

Why does warm cake have to smell so good??? :worship:

irish dancer My son finds the game Clue "boring". Of course he's only 5! But my 10 yr old loves it! We must play it a least once a week!!!
We are big on game nights here.

I have been to that Hackney's several times, they have good food. :)
Butter is good, but not when you have to swim through it!

momto1 Glad you had a good trip! :goodvibes

mac You're such a fibber!!! When will you be back from
"vacation"?? ;)
The Ellen show is at Universal this week!

One last check in before bed......

Hey mac, we'll be there at the same time - we're at 187 days out although that could change a bit as we don't have any airline tix yet - still waiting for a good deal.

I hope you both had a wonderful day yesterday!!!!:cool1:

Today is the day that sales tax here goes up to 7%:guilty:
I have to remember to change my computer program at work this morning, so I charge my customers accordingly.

I"m so excited because the MNSHHP dates have been officially posted:banana:
Now, all I need is the October park dates, which should post anyday, and then I can start planning our itinerary :cool1: WooHoo...I'm so excited!!!! :cool1: We are planning on going to Sea World this year, so it'll be fun squeezing that into all our Disney fun!!!! :yay:

ID - We are staying at a timeshare this year, so I'm pretty happy that I can do laundry there too :laundy: I like the idea of not coming home to tons of laundry:thumbsup2

geffric - Good luck at your last week of this job:wizard:

DG - Were the Cubs able to get the game in yesterday? I know the weater was a concern.

Zero - I"m glad the recital was a success :cheer2: I like being a backstage mom :) It's unfortunate that you can't see the rest of the recital, but there's something fun about being behind the scenes:)
**Enjoy Spring Break!!!!! :goodvibes

Bunchkin - We'll drive everyday to the parks - I really like to drive :car: Even when we are on property, we drive our car everywhere :)
**The video version is for a VHS player, and it is older than dirt. We'll have to try to remember for me to bring it the next time I see you, so you can see it.
**A Haunted Mansion Clue would be pretty cool - I really need to learn how to play that game.

Becky - :wave2:

momto1 - Welcome home, and I'm glad you had a great trip!!!!! :cool1:

Mac - I don't blame you for playing hooky (sp?) yesterday - it was a good grey nasty day to stay home :thumbsup2

Donna - Was Christopher able to come home for Easter?

piglet - I hope Nathan had a great day yesterday!!!!

Crissup - What kind of birthday cake did you have?

Well, I gotta run everyone, and get ready for work
We need to leave early today, because I need to make a frame delivery.

Have a good day everyone!!!

Good Morning Everyone! :flower3: i am soooo ready for vacation. i had class last night and kept getting frustrated with my project, at one point my teacher actually laughed at my drawing. i don't think he was trying to hurt my feelings or anything but i was trying so hard, it bummed me out that he chuckled. :sad2: work is crazy busy right now so i should keep this short!

Slo ~:wave2: the Cubs did get to play. the game was rain delayed twice (i think, maybe 3 times) I was watching the live updates on cubs.com. they lost though :sad2: 4-3.

Morning..

:surfweb:

Who turned on the a/c.. it is cold out there today... yesterday even though it rained was nice.. kids went to school in tshirts and shorts today. said it was warm. oh well.. As a wise women once said.. you never see any frozen teens by the road side.. so I guess they will be ok.

As a wise women once said.. you never see any frozen teens by the road side.. so I guess they will be ok.

Oh my!!! That just cracked me completely up!!! Considering how I've seen some teens dress waiting for the bus...it's true though -- I've never seen them frozen there.

I watch my neighbor's son leave for school halfed dressed all the time.
My DD thinks he's crazy!!! We've seen him in only a t-shirt, and jeans of course, when it was in the 20's!!!!

So at what age is it that we give up the fight? And is it more so for boys then girls I wonder?

Good morning all!!

We need to start our own 'WHAT'S FOR DINNER' post!
I am running out of ideas lately!
Anyone else?

Who wants to post what they're having each night? Maybe it will help give us all ideas!

slo A video game played on a VHS machine? How is that possible?

When we drove down to WDW one year we drove to the parks several times too.
Have you been to Sea World before? I've been a couple times, and Lauren did as a little one but she doesn't remember it.

disneygal It was a good, and long, game. Too bad they didn't win!!

ISo at what age is it that we give up the fight? And is it more so for boys then girls I wonder?

About middle school -- although I don't know -- I think my boys would let me pick out their clothes through HS if it's up to them, so my hunch is it would be girls BUT....I only see the boys in shorts on freezing cold days. As of right now DS-11 is usually cold and he voluntarily bundles up. He didn't have a hat today and up went the hood, snapped and everything.

This is where having a back brace works to my advantage for DD. She doesn't really have an option in her choice of clothes because it has to hide the brace which she wears a crew neck t-shirt under (so it cuts out some cute tops too that are completely appropriate but if her brace shirt shows forget it!). No skimpy skirts, no skimpy tops, no low-rise jeans either for that matter, etc... Basically boils down to she wears jeans & t-shirts or a sweater top every day with her jean jacket/light jacket she can wear during class over top of that. The jackets conceal things more. I force her to wear her coat but she never closes it. She usually has it on when I see her coming up the walk from the bus, so she does that one on her own (probably easier to wear it than carry it!).

Good morning everyone!

Man, it's kind of cold out there today. And that wind! The roof over our bedroom creaks when it's really windy, so I didn't get the best sleep last night.

disneygal - you're taking art classes? Mind if I ask where? I always wanted to learn to paint, but DH is an amazing artist. I think I'd try too hard to be like him and majorly fail. :rotfl: I'm also so ready for vacation. Just a few more weeks left!

bunchkin - last night I made italian pasta skillet, one of DH's favorites and very easy. Tonight, well, I haven't figured it out yet. Typical. :)

slo - I really liked the backstage mom thing, too, and I'll volunteer again. They were very accomodating to us, and even gave us front row seats to watch our own kids perform.

Poor Cubbies lost out yesterday. :sad1: I read an article predicting a Cubs-White Sox World Series this year - wouldn't that be amazing (in more ways than one!)

Time to head off to the library. We've got several books and one video due back ASAP. I hope everyone has a wonderful day! :goodvibes

Morning all! I am about to give up the battle over shorts with ds11. I do insist on the coat. He would wear the same clothes all the time - dirty or not. I used to have the rule of it had to be predicted to be 70 degrees to wear shorts to school Not any more, I guess.

Bunchkin - My suppers have been very uninspring lately. Today I have a pork roast in the crock pot. Tomorrow will be BBQ pork sammies using the leftover roast. Last night was sloppy joes which I hadn't made in a long time.

Anybody played any good April Fools day jokes today? Or had one played on you? I won't play any jokes but I bet ds will come home with something up his sleeve.
Lori

This morning I opened their door to loudly.. so they yelled at me.. Teens!!!! They are quite a handfull... I chose my battles.. like Geoff wants to go to Europe with his friends next spring break.. not gonna happen.. so we can discuss this loudly for several months.. til he understands that no is no is no..

Bunchkin to night is a good dinner ;cause I am home and it is Geoff's 17th b'day.. yes he was born on April 1.. so He asked for orange chicken and rice..tomorrow is leftovers!!

i have 4 boys.
i chose to ignore how they dressed once they hit high school.
i chose my battles wisely..

Anybody played any good April Fools day jokes today? Or had one played on you? I won't play any jokes but I bet ds will come home with something up his sleeve.
Lori

DH did unintentionally -- he was goofing around but didn't realize it was April 1. We had a repair guy come out to take a look at the siding...DH walks in and says it will be $4K -- I nearly had a heart attack. After I did a REALLY????????? Shocked expression assuming the guy had to re-do the whole thing or something, he told me no, he was kidding. I told him that was his April Fool's joke (to which he looked perplexed to me and then realized the date).

Our insurance adjuster had been here yesterday and estimated about $215 to repair it, etc... The estimate for repair was in the $200 range -- WAY less than $4K thank you very much. Less than our deductible though too but that's good, I'd rather pay $200 vs. $500. Now...if the wind would just quit until we can repair it (because it's getting *worse* where it was slightly loose before on one section it's becoming more undone).
