Calling all Chicago DISers #2

Hi all!!

I took Hunter to the doctor on Thursday afternoon. He was diagnosed with an ear infection, bronchitis, and mild strep. So no school for him on Friday either because #1...due to school rules you need to be on antibiotics for 24 hours when you have strep before you can go back to school...... & #2... he was just too lathargic and coughing up a storm still.
He is starting to feel better finally and acting more like himself.
Luckily, we have been picking up his work and then turning it in so he won't be behind after missing school for a week.

slo Sorry to hear you hurt your hand. Totally sounds like something I would do. Hope it's feeling better soon.
I like Christmas commercials & going to American Sales too. And I have been one, in the past, to spend too much money there.
Have the girls started talking about what they want for Christmas?
The kids went through 2 Christmas catalogs/ads today, one from Walmart and one from Target, and stuck Post-It notes all over it!! :)

Hersey I can't believe Alex!! Tell him if he puts off thinking about Christmas it may just be too late to think of it at all!! ;)

momto1 Welcome back!!! That is some really high air fare!
Congrats to your son!

Donna I use Neutrogena Norwegian Formula cream. I use the one for hands, mine get really dry, and DH uses the all over body one.

Crissup I could say the same about American Airlines. We've had lond delays with them.

Gotta run.
Have a great weekend all!!! :goodvibes

bunchkins, i hope your son starts to feel better.
that's a lot for a little guy to have.
i bet he feels miserable.

john, i'm about to join you on that statement you made about United.
they changed my flight going to orlando 6 different times.

i had to go early to ord in october for being flagged by security due to all the flight changes on my ticket.
i told security i never made all those changes but the airline did that.

they have pulled all the non stop night flights from mco to ord also.
even though i have less miles with American, i'll be looking to them for my next trip. unless united cuts their fares again.

i have been using american and united for years.
when spirit was flying non stop and had cheap prices, i used to use them for my orlando flights.

Evening all! Hope everyone is holding up in this cold nasty weather.
Bunchkin, sure hope the antiobiotics have Hunter feeling like his old self real soon.
momto1, welcome home and congrats to your DS on doing such a great job! Did you have a nice trip?
I am with everyone on looking at the decorations and enjoying the music. (I could just enjoy it more if it were 60degrees outside:laughing: )Went to Hallmark's open house today. They were giving away a mega roll of wrapping paper if you bought another roll. I needed paper this year anyway-forgot to order when my kids were selling for school.:headache: So I got 2 rolls for $5. Not too bad. I like Hallmark paper. Also looked at the ornaments and cards. Bought a couple of ornaments.
Nutcracker rehearsals are in full swing now. I will be glad when the next 2 weeks are over!:dance3: Tired of the dancing girls, I am!:rolleyes1
Slo, to you. Keep an eye on that ouchy. Hope you have a recent tetanus shot and if you see any red streaks, straight off for antibiotics you go.;) Did you make it to the HSM movie? I still haven't gotten Kellie there. DS went and saw Madagascar today and loved it. He went with friends. DD was bummed. She wants to see this one as well. We had a tea to go to for the Nutcracker cast today. When they say finger sandwiches, they really mean it. Not more than a finger in size! That's one way to diet I guess.
Well, I better get these kids off to bed. Early church tomorrow and then Nutcracker rehearsal once again.
Later

HOLY COLDNESS!!! We spend the day downtown chicago today! we had a morning photo session with Edward Fox photography and then Mcdonalds Corp. had a special event at the Museum of Science and Industry! We stayed there until closing and then we had dinner at the cheesecake factory and now here we are, all popsicles ahaha!!

It's chilly willy outside :cold:
It's hard taking Sophie out first thing in the morning when I still warm and toasty from my bed. The minute I set outside, I wake up real fast:laughing: I sure wish there was another way with her, but there just isn't. We thought about attaching a clothes line to a poll, and then attaching her leash to it so she could be outside for awhile. But I know, for a fact, that she wouldn't go potty without me. She would stand right by the door, with a look on her face, like she was totally abandoned:rolleyes: So, I guess I'm stuck taking her out. Stephanie trys to help, but Sophie doesn't take her seriously, and doesn't always potty for her. Sophie is getting a little better with Kevin, but generally, only if I"m not home. If he takes her out, and I"m home, she many times won't go for him either. Sophie is a real mama's dog

Mac - How are you feeling lately? What day is your surgery? I remember you posting that it will be before Thanksgiving.

HERSEY - Thanks for the hugs!!! I've cut myself so much at work, and I've only gone to the doctor once. I've done this before, but many years ago, and nothing happened. I watch the wound regularly, and I decided that as soon as it starts looking unusual, than I will definitly go to the doctor than.
**I was expecting you to say that Alex knew exactly what he wanted. I bet you wish he knew, so you could start shopping or planning to shop. Both my girls want a new AG Doll, so I'm going to order those this month:thumbsup2

Bunchkin - Poor little Hunter  I'm glad you found out what was wrong and he got some meds to help. I"m glad he's starting to act like his old self again.
**Thanks for the hug about the hand!!! I hope it feels better soon too, because right now, it hurts alot!!!!
**My mom mentioned a Target ad, and I didn't receive one, unless it came yesterday (my mail is still in the mailbox). I need to find it so the girls can look through it. For Christmas my girls are getting.....
From us - A new room. We already bought the bedding and other items (that the girls picked out). Yesterday we got the paint (that wasn't cheap), and we still need to get a border for each room. After all that's done, I need to buy some Dora posters for Katie's room and get those framed, and then Stephanie already has, and will need more, animal posters for her room, and get those framed.
From Santa - Katie is getting a "Just Like You" AG doll, and some clothes.
Stephanie is getting "Mia" AG Doll and some of her accessories
Both are getting a bean bag chair with their name on it (no fighting then), and they both want the AG Doll Concession Stand, so I may get that too, but I don't know yet:scratchin

Crissup - Welcome home!!!!! I'm glad you had a safe trip, and I'm sorry to hear about your problems with United. I haven't flown United in years (I couldn't even tell you the last time), we always fly Southwest.

TTTTTTigernnnnn - Thanks for the hugs!!!!! Thanks for the tip on the red streaks - I will keep and eye on that. I don't know the last time I had a tetnis shot:confused3 How long do they last for?
**We are going to see HSM3 today. I decided to not go last night, because it would have been a late show after church and then dinner. Plus, I will get in cheaper this afternoon, than for last night :thumbsup2 I"m looking forward to seeing it, and so are the girls.
**Tell Kellie that I said good luck to her with her rehearsals:wizard: You must be so proud of her!!!

DMM - I bet you were cold downtown, especially with that wind :cold: How did the photo session go?

Well, it's time for me to start thinking about what to do for breakfast.
I'm thinking - French Toast sticks :scratchin
Have a good day everyone!!!

Good morning!

Slo I am so glad I have a fence the dogs go out and I stay in :thumbsup2. I totally agree it is cold out. Hershey is with me like Sophie is for you. He is much better than when he was a pup he would follow me around the house room to room. If Alex is home he will sit by him.

Tigg Finger sandwiches huh! My friend and I are like that at some tastifully simple parties. We eat before, those are snacks not food.

DMM I bet the musuem was cool. Did the kids enjoy it?

John Sorry you had such a bad experience on United. We stopped flying American cause of delays and grumpy flight attendents.

Today is my friend's daughter birthday party. I volunteered to help out. I do this every year so I remember to appreciate having Alex. 12 screaming girls :scared:

morning chicago land homies.

cold here also.....

off to church soon, will have your backs covered for the week.

catch you later.....

Morning everyone

DMM - I bet you were cold downtown, especially with that wind How did the photo session go?

Rally great! We had intended to get a family photo done, and we had done a session while pregnant with a photographer here in rockford and I was so displeased with the rush us in and get us out attitude and only being open certain hours which required a day off from work for Sal and then to not fall in love with any of the photos due to being rushed. Sooo....I did some research this time around and fell in love with the people. Sooo nice and accomodating! It takes us a little over an hour to get there and they were able to work with our schedule :)

Then we were taken in right away and the poses for the family shot were amazing, I wish I could have seen how they turned out! THEN he did shots of the 3 kids AND shots of each one by themselves and as we were getting ready to leave, he took shots of just Sal and I. Arggg...the negative is that i'm going to want them all! hahaha!!!! So we go back next weekend and choose the sizes and see all the proofs. (we've arranged fro my parents to go as well since they will want photos too!). Great service and everything I totally recommend them! (Just requires a lot of trips down there to get them! haha!!) oh and i'm about ready to have a heart attack when they hand me the price list next weekend.....gahhh...

DMM I bet the musuem was cool. Did the kids enjoy it?

Yesss very cool, it has changed soo much since the last time Sal and I were there (without kids!!).

The kids loved it, there is just so much hands on stuff and then well that huge train exhibit is right up the boys alley :)

We probably need another full day there though, touring with 3 littles ones really slows us down!

Iwerks, all with funding from the very studio he helped start,

We went and HSM3 yesterday, and even though it's not my favorite one, I still enjoyed it alot. I, like KimRaye, was a little teary eyed at the end, in knowing this was the last one:sad1:

HERSEY - How did the bday party go? Did you come home with a headache? 12 screaming girls would give definitly give me a headache, which is probably why Stephanie has only had one girly birthday party:rolleyes:

Mac - Thanks for letting me know about the tetenis shot. I definitly haven't had one in the last 10 years.:sad2:

DMM - I"m glad your photo session went well. I can hardly wait to hear about how you like them :)

Well, I'm off to start my day
Have a great day today everyone!!!

Good Morning Everyone! :flower3: hope everyone had a nice weekend! Dad made chicken soup yesterday! let me tell you... it was fantastic! Perfect for cold day! I've been working on some things for the wedding this weekend! I'm so happy that I'm able to take my time with things and not rush to get them done!

As for other things, I know it isn't even thanksgiving yet but I'm going to try and get most of my shopping done early. Also, I'm planning on doing a search for good deals online and whatnot. unfortunately, mike's job situation and the economy make me very cost efficient these days, yet I keep getting the urge to want to book another WDW vacation:rolleyes: ... hmmmm, where are my priorities!

Slo ~ I hear ya with taking the dog out when it's so cold! BRRRRRRR Glad you enjoyed HSM3!

Mac ~ Thanks for the listings! I'm a sucker for the Full House Disney episodes! I think they are so fun!

DMM ~ Glad to hear the photosession went well!

Hersey ~ Hope the bday party for your friend's daughter went smoothly! :)

Bunchkin ~ Hope Hunter is starts to feel better soon! :wizard:

Morning guys! Brrrr, it is cold! DD11 is serving 6:15a mass this whole week, it is so hard to get up in the dark especially when it's so cold outside.

Thanks for the good wishes for DS, he is feeling much better. He is having a very hard time at school though. He was having such a good year until about 2wks ago and since then all heck has broken loose. I've asked the school to call a meeting of his whole IEP team to try and determine what is happening. Kind of frustrating that I'm the one having to push for this, you'd think they'd want to get back to smooth sailing and would have asked for the meeting but they just kept telling me to "talk" to him about it.

mac - we got lots of political calls too, glad those are done!
*I too spent a couple hours working out those codes, we have a DVC trip booked but I'm always looking for an angle to save money. I'm just going to be happy with our free tix on United and leave it at that and stick with our trip as booked.

Bunchkin - I hope Hunter is feeling better today!
*I like Austrailia's campaigning policy, we shoule adopt that. 6mos is much more tolerable than 2yrs!

slo - I'm so sorry your employee left you high and dry last week, hopefully she won't try that again!
*I LOVE Christmas time too! I'm bummed WLIT isn't starting their round the clock Christmas music until late next week. Last year they started on Nov. 8, I guess that's a bit early but I just love it.
**Brian says he's getting tired of Disney too but every time I book he is excited :confused3 .
***Yikes, I hope your hand is Ok. That sounds so painful.

momto1 - Welcome Back! I'm glad you had a great trip, congrats to your DS, what an accomplishment!!
*Yikes, those are high fares for April!! We used to fly SW but their fares have been so much higher lately that we've been using AA and United for a while. I long for those DING fares when we'd get all 5 tix for under $500.

I know I've missed some of you but I've got to run. The girls get out at 11:40 today and tomorrow because of parent teacher conferences. We have ours this afternoon so we should get their report cards and see how they're doing.

Have a great day everyone! :flower3:

Hi gang! I don't want it to be cold yet! I told dh yesterday I want to live where the sun always shines and it is warm!

Slo - hope your finger/hand is better! Take care of it!

DMM - you photos sound awesome. I am glad that you found a photographer you liked.

Hi to everyone else!

DS had an adventure in downtown Chicago yesterday. He went with a friend and his family to Water Tower to shop and look around. The mom, ds and friend then went for dinner at the Cheesecake Factory while the dad and sister went to another restaurant to eat. When they went to meet up to go to the car, the car had been towed! The dad went to find the car, the sister was crying, they waited at a bus stop for the dad and then all took a taxi ride to get the car. He finally got home at 9:40 pm. What an adventure! He was pooped this morning but I am sure I know that the guys are talking about at school today.

Better get back to work.
Lori

Hi all-
I haven't really read or posted awhile here.

Slo- hope your hand is getting better

Geffric- hey, just saw your post here on the Dismeet at Woodfield. That's on a Sunday, right? I might think about going. Got to clear it with DH first and then see if I have anything going on that morning, which I don't think I have.
I would love to see you and mac there
How are you doing, geffric?

Hi Mac :wave2:

Hi to all :wave2:

DG - I love homemade chicken soup on a cold day!!!:goodvibes Kevin makes a great soup too, and in fact, I have some in the freezer that I should take out for dinner sometime this week :scratchin
*This is going to be cheap Christmas in our house too ::yes:: I think many people are thinking that way, which makes me a little nervous about how my store is going to do. Christmas is suppossed to be busy, and I'm nervous I may not be this year.

ID - I"m sorry to hear about the school problems with your son:guilty: I hope the meeting goes well, and you are able to work together to rectify all the problems:wizard: Please keep up posted on how everything goes.
**The hand is healing slowly - thanks for asking!!!!!:goodvibes

momto1 - Wow, your son did have an adventure!!! Why did the car get towed? Was it parked illegally? I would be so freaked out if I went to my car and it was gone:scared1:
**The hand is getting better slowly but surely - thanks!!!!:goodvibes

geffric - Thanks for The Meet link:) Unfortunately, I won't be going, because I have a million things to do on Sunday, and getting there at 9am is to early for me. If you go, please let us know how it went, and please invite all of them to this thread, it would be great to get to know them.

Mac - :wave2:

Rose - Thanks:goodvibes The hand is on the road to getting better.

Well, I best get going and workout - have a great day!!!
