Good morning!

Paint We really enjoyed Yak and Yeti on our last trip. The wok fried green beans and beef and brocolli were very good. Coral reef is nice also more cozy. Boma is good also just a buffet. WC is good food and fun but noisy. It depends on what your looking for food or cozy.

We are planning on coming to the meet tomorrow.

Hi!! :wave2:

The kids have a karate demonstration today at the city's annual fair.
I have to run to the store soon to pick up a few things in order to put together a couple quick salads we're bringing to a bbq that their Master is throwing afterwards.

Then tonight DD has a sleepover at the neighbor's house.
I sure do hope they get some sleep or she will be really tired tomorrow at the meet!

slo The city of New Lenox built a very large outdoor performing arts theatre. It sits arcoss from the village hall and the library in a big grassy open area. So seating is either on the grass or you bring a chair. The theatre has a large open stage that is equipped with all the right lighting, sound and a huge drop down screen for showing movies. They also have a small building to the side that is a concession stand/bathroom area. Wed. in the summer they show movies, and on the weekend they have free concerts too. Lots of special events go on here. There is also a huge pond that sits right behind it with a fountain. You can fish there. They also have benches situated around the pond and lots of picnic tables. It is really something to see. ::yes::

Crissup Can't wait to see those pics!!

paint DD fears tornados! She runs to the basement with a little bag that has all kinds of things she deems worthy of helping out in an emergency...she has always done that since she was little!
Hope the deck got finished!!

disneygal & mac Sorry you both cannot make the meet. You'll be missed!!!!

Gotta run...too much going on today!!!
See a good chunk of ya tomorrow!!!!

Happy Saturday, Chicago friends. Mark & I are planning on going to the meet tomorrow. Looks like a nice (warm) day ahead of us today...we are going to watch the parade in Streamwood. We went to the DuPage County fair earlier this week, haven't been there in like a million and three years, it was fun!

Hope to see a lot of you tomorrow!:goodvibes

Wow I had no idea the fair was going on for that long:rotfl: See you tomorrow.

Slo- How's your neck? Once, we were at the zoo, and I turned my head just right (or wrong, for that matter)...omg, it brought tears to my eyes! Hope it's better!
Bunchkin- Looks like some of our dcs need a tornado support group. I used to be kinda' freaked myself. My mom used to go outside and look at the sky during a warning. I was terrified she'd get sucked up!
Hersey- Thanks for the info. Never been to WC or Y&Y, so looking forward to both. I think I have a good mix of places, so I don't mind good food or cozy...either one! DH loves ketchup, so I can't wait to get some at WC!
ID- CR is great! Also, do you have a dc with autism? Feel free to p.m. me. My good friend has a dc with Asperger's, so I am always looking for any new info for her and him.
dgal- We have a very sarcastic family, especially me and youngest dsis. We love to harrass people!
DIS Meet- I am so jealous! Please takes lots of pics! I know Dan did last time. Then, I'll add one of me in my crisp white waitress shirt...I'll be there in spirit!

The deck got finished and looks great. We took the hungry workers to a Chinese buffet, but I was so annoyed at their kids prices. 7-10 cost $9! DD just turned 7, and ds is so tiny, you'd believe me if I told you he was 5! They definitely did not eat $18 worth of food! Grr! My dad got his fill, though!

Hi all :wave2:

Haven't been here in awhile. Just been real busy with RL lately.
My grandma was going downhill healthwise 2 weeks ago. She seems to be doing better lately :thumbsup2
Had been busy with that and Chrissy's summer school and Matthew's summer band class. Summer school ended and band class just ended.
Just a busy summer!

Unfortunately I won't be able to attend the Dismeet tomorrow :guilty:
Have a big Italian family wedding to attend :flower3:

I will miss all of you peeps!

Please take pictures and post them here or on the Dismeet thread. Thanks!
Hope to make the next Dismeet whenever that is.

I did take my kids to see Wall-E about 2 weeks ago. Very cute movie :cutie:

Hi to all :wave2:

Hi all!!! :wave2:

This is a super duper short post :upsidedow

I rolled out of bed this morning at 6:15am and took a quick shower and went straight to work. I had so much to do at my desk (I couldn't even see the top of my desk with all the paperwork that accumulated). I left there at 9:30am and came home, ate breakfast, and then the family and I went to Pierogi Fest in Whiting, In. We go every year - we really enjoy it!!!! Then we came home, the kids went in the pool, and now here I am, finally reading everyone's posts:)

I now have to go give Sophie a bath, then Katie a shower, and then we have to eat dinner. For all you going to The Meet tomorrow - I look forward to seeing you there :goodvibes

Have a great night!!!!

Hi Everyone! I just found this thread and wanted to say hi to my fellow Chicago Disney Fans! :wave2:

I just got married last weekend and will be heading off on our honeymoon in a few weeks to Europe (not WDW...I tried to convince DH...maybe next year).

Hope you all enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Becky

Hi guys! Just a quick drive by....found out DBF is seperating with her DH and is in pretty bad shape so another friend and I are going to take her out and see if we can help in any way.

I'll be at the meet tomorrow with 2 of my kids and a niece. DD11 is sleeping over at my sisters and going to drop of her cousin at camp so she won't be with us tomorrow but I'll have my sisters youngest.

Have a great night!:flower3:

P.S. Paint - yes DS7 has autism will send you a PM tomorrow.

Welcome to the thread CoP Luv. Congratulations on your marriage.

Hi everyone. I'm taking DD off to cheer camp tomorrow, so that's what I'll be doing.

Anyway, just curious has anyone here dealt with homebound schooling? Just looking into everything that is going on with DD so I'm prepared (that's what happens when you are a planner). I have found very little on our school district website about it. I have found some on others but not ours. The Guidance counselors don't come back to school until August 11, and I'm not sure when the nurse comes in.

Also....for those that remember DH's lay-off back end of March, a somewhat good news, DH got a couple 3 week jobs lined up (yes, he's been out of work all this time...UGH!!! Luckily, he has clients he's been doing work for but just sporadic.) He will at least have work until the end of August so that's good.

i have used homebound schooling.
you contact the principal/dean of students at your school. if you contact the counselor at school, it will be referred to a different authority.
then they will have you go over the situation with the dean or person in charge of special needs. depends on how your school/district handles homebound teaching.

for our district, the principal takes down the needed info. sends it to the superintendents office and they make contact with you.
you have to have a form from the district completed by the physician that states it is needed for the child.

our district for grades 1-12 allows 5 hours a week of home bound teaching.
the teacher will bring the assignments to your home.
the teacher and student will go over them and then the student works on their own and at their own pace to complete them.
if work is difficult and the student needs tutoring, the hb teacher should be able to provide that.
once work is completed, the hb teacher returns all material to the teacher directly. all work is graded and the classroom teacher strives to keep the student abreast with the others in the class while the child does home schooling. this way the child is not behind when they return back to the classroom.

you work the schedule out with the hb teacher and your childs schedule/needs.
no charge to the parent for this when it falls into a category as a medical need for the child.

it depends on the grade level of the student and ability if the child can work independently.
the hb teacher might be able to come to your house on a monday with all the work that will be done in the class room for the next 5 days.

hb is to explain the work to the child so they can be at the same level of others in the class when they return to school.

this is common procedure for students that are pregnant, recovering from surgery, have mental disorders and work at a different pace and environment, have an ongoing disease which prevents them the stamina to be at school an entire day, etc

contact me by pm if you want more info.
i have gone thru it twice with my sons.

the state requires certain criteria meet by the school district. the school district must cooperate but sometimes has additional services for the home bound child.

:surfweb:

I"m really looking forward to seeing some of you today!!!!!
I"m also looking forward to finally seeing Wall-E:banana:
It'll be a great day!!!!!!:goodvibes

I forgot to tell you guys - my Chiropractor told me that I either buldged a disc or blew out a disc (I can't remember which) when I sneezed:eek: He asked me if I was bending over when I sneezed, and I told him that I didn't remember. He also asked me if I held in the sneeze, and I said no. He said that holding in a sneeze is a terrible thing that you can do to the inside of your body. So, he gave me an adjustment, and it helped a very very small pinch, but not much :sad2: So, I'm going to go back tomorrow for 2 adjustments again. Until then, I was told to take it easy, and not lift anything heavy. I told him that this is a time that I wish I had a boss that I could tell them that my doctor told me to take it easy and not work much - he laughed:rotfl:

Thanks! I don't think I will be able to make the meet today, but I really want to see the movie!

We are going on a cruise leaving from Rome and stopping in many different ports in the Western Mediterranean. I am really excited!

To the other Becky: I was a cheerleader back in high school and loved going to cheer camp!!! :cheer2: We only went away for two of my four years. The other two "camp" years were just 7 hour practices at school. We were really competitive and it paid off our last year: we won the state competition. Hope she has fun!

Enjoy the meet!

Becky

Becky

I friend from work, her daughter did a cruise like that. They loved it.

It looks like it is going to be a beautiful day. I think they took the rain out of the forcast.

Becky I hope your husband gets a either a long-term job or a perm one soon. It is hard to live for the moment.

I better get breakfast going or my growling tummy will distrub us during the movie.

My hair is washed, so I'm one step closer to leaving for the Meet. :rotfl:

I'm going to try to just have a string cheese for breakfast, because I think the popcorn is a lot of points and I have to have popcorn! I'll have a diet drink. :guilty:

See you guys soon!

Hi irish dancer,
I just spotted your autism puzzle ribbon avatar :thumbsup2
I have an 11yr DS that is high on the autism spectrum.
Unfortunatley, we won't be at the DISmeet today, but you can PM me too if you want.

Slo-Sorry to hear about your back
Hope you get to feeling better soon :wizard:
Have fun at the meet today! :thumbsup2

Becky 2005- glad to hear your DH has some jobs lined up :thumbsup2
Praying he finds a permanent position soon.

Hi Leigh and everyone :wave2:
Have fun at the meet today!

Hi to Dan and Marie :wave2:

Can't wait to see pics from the meet today :yay:

:sad1: It looks like I won't be able to make it today. Money is very tight and I really should not spend the money on the gas to get up there. I am so sad because I was really looking forward to meeting everyone.

Hello all, I took your advice and hunted up this thread which was on page 3 of the community board, probably because everyone is still at the mall ;) I'll check in later and meet everyone all over again.
