Calling all Cabo Experts (or even one timers)

You all helped me so much with Vegas, so I now have some Cabo questions.

First and foremost, we are not beach people. I do not want to go. This is for a wedding for a friend that I love dearly, so I am going. I want to have a better attitude about this. I hope my Dis Friends can turn my mood around.

It will be in March of 2023. Just in time for Spring Break:scared: We are a mature crowd, so this may be weird timing.

Number one priority: Safety. Do you feel safe while in Cabo? Who do you use for airport transportation?

It will be at either the Ritz Carlton (Zanun?) or the JW Marritott. They appear to be next door to each other. While I don't mind paying for a nice hotel, I do want water and alcohol for my room. Has anyone used a delivery company in Cabo? Which is best?

Fun things to do/ways to get around-What are your suggestions?

Any other tips and Cabo stories (good or bad) are welcome.

Thank you all!

We were recently there but we never left the resort. We used the resort’s transportation. I felt pretty safe I guess? But again never left the resort. People were very friendly. We flew into SJD.
Sorry I can’t help you more.

Cabo is pretty isolated so it is pretty safe. The ride from the airport can get interesting. Cabo has amazing fishing if that is your thing, or a dolphin cruise would be fun

I'm definitely not a "Cabo Expert" having only been twice, and stayed at the same resort both times (Esperanza), and heading back again next month...to the same resort. Our first stay in Cabo, we ventured into town...Cabo San Lucas, and found it pretty touristy and not worth it to be honest. We did go to the marina area to go on a sunset cruise...which was nice, but the sunset from our resort was just as beautiful. We took a car service over to Flora Farms, which is a bit of a ride, but that was very interesting....cool vibe, good food and music. For us, Cabo is really about the view, the waves crashing on the beautiful rocks, and the resort. The resort where we stay has several restaurants, fantastic food, and the best service we've experienced anywhere. But Cabo is a beautiful place...one of our favorite places to go.

As for feeling safe, as an American, I feel as safer in Cabo than I do in the United States.

We’ve been to Cabo twice in the past 12 months. It’s a beautiful place, great seafood and good service for the most part. We stayed at Villa del Arco in August and Nobu Los Cabo’s in March. Different types of hotels. Villa deal Arco is all inclusive, wouldn’t do that again. Nobu is high end..both hotels are beautiful, preferred Nobu.

I speak a decent amount of Spanish and one of the friends we travel with is Mexican so that makes getting around easier for us. We usually find a cab driver or car service that we end up using for our entire stay. I can’t remember the name of the airport service we use…I’ll look it up. You will get bombarded by taxi companies before you even leave the airport so it’s a good idea to book in advance.

Many great places to eat! It’s a seafood lover’s paradise. Great local shopping. Get out on a boat to see the arches. No suggestions on delivery service. Have always enjoyed the drinks from the hotels.
¡Que tengas un viaje fabuloso!

My sister invited me to go to Cabo next month but my daughter will be home in spring break that week, she goes at least twice a year. She travels a ton (monthly) and feels totally safe there.

Just bumping this for any other Cabo tips and/or stories. We are going in less than 3 weeks:love:

My only complaint....is that I'm not going with you!! We have never felt unsafe in Cabo. If we had, we wouldn't have gone back an additional two times. And the place we've stayed...Esperanza, is very, very popular with people from Texas it seems. There is a fractional ownership there and we talked to people who pop down there multiple times a year because it's such a short flight. Also...at this time of the year, you're guaranteed to have nice weather...no rain :).

I wouldn't go to certain parts of Mexico where there is a very high level of drug activity/trafficking. But Cabo....is *beautiful*. I had always thought it was maybe a "party" kind of location, and I guess certain hotels are, but we love it there....the people are incredibly friendly and the view with the surf crashing on the rocks (at least at Esperanza where we've been three times).

Sounds like you're staying at a nice resort....we've always paid a bit more there and used the resort SUV and have been whisked to resort. The last time...we didn't leave the resort because there's just no need.

Have a great time....and really, don't worry....you'll be fine.

Thank you for this. I love that you love Cabo. I hope we do too!

We've been to Cabo 4 times over the past several years, twice to all inclusives and twice as a stop on a cruise. Love Cabo! We have never found it unsafe or unsavoury. It's gorgeous! Also I wouldn't worry about the spring break crowds too much. While of course there will be spring breakers, the really rowdy ones tend to go to Cancun lol

I've been only once as part of a cruise last year. We did an excursion a little ways up the eastern side of the peninsula to San Jose del Cabo. Quieter and charming. I felt safe. You might be able to fine a private tour guide.

I went to my sister's wedding there several years ago. We stayed at an all inclusive resort and felt very safe. We shopped and did a whale watching cruise and had a great time. My daughter was only 7 and we never felt uncomfortable.
