When we were at the Boardwalk this summer Seashore Sweets told us to keep our receipt from our mug redemption on the dining plan, since they don't fill the mugs at the resort, they give you a paper cup. This way we could show our receipt and get a drink without toting the mug around.

They will do this at the bakery and seashore sweets, but not the belle vue lounge. I spoke to the assistant to the manager and asked if they could change their policy to showing your room key with dining plan on it. She said that would make it a lot easier. Then you could grab a soda or coffee and head to the park and toss it when you get there, no mug to run back to your room.

She mentioned that if enough people call they may change the policy. So hopefully others will feel the same way and call the Boardwalk for the policy change.

Thanks for your help.

In August/September 2011 when I was staying at the Boardwalk Inn you didn't need to show the reciept for your mug to get a free refill, you just need to show a Cast Member your mug and you get a drink of your choice in a paper cup. While I was waiting to pay for something at the Boardwalk Bakery a kid came in with three mugs, showed them to the Cast Member and got three Diet Cokes in paper cups.

As for not getting refills at the Belle Vue Lounge the mug signs at the Boardwalk Bakery and Seashore Sweets listed the Belle Vue Lounge as one of the locations where you can get free refills.

Yes, they all give refills but they never use the mug so I was hoping they would change their policy to letting you show your room key (with dining plan listed on it) so that you don't have to carry your mug. That way you can get refills before going to a park or on your way back with out having to get your mug from the room. This only applies to Boardwalk because of the way they never use your mug.

I can see your point about getting a drink before going to the parks so you don't need to walk around with the mugs, however I think right now the system they have is fair for all those staying at the Boardwalk Inn & Boardwalk Villas. Not everyone staying at those locations will be on the Disney Dining Plan and their Key To The World cards won't say DDP on them, so I think it's easier for all the guests to show their mugs.

We actually like the system now. We take our mugs with us in the morning, and throw them in the bag. Upon our return, we show our mug again to get another refill. I like that my mug stays clean, and I don't have to use it for the drink.

We don't buy the DDP, so our KTTW card wouldn't have the mark on it.

I agree like it the way it is I have no problem carrying mug with me also CM often see you with mug and ask right away what drink you want without a wait.

So, are you saying that at the present time you can bring your recept OR your mug to get a refill? I find it a pain to lug the mug when they don't even use it.

Is the BWV the only resort where they don't have some type of self-serve refill station?

My DH and I happened to be behind someone in the Belle Vue Lounge back in March that threw a fit because the CM behind the counter wouldn't give her drinks without her actual mugs and by just showing a receipt. She argued and argued with the CM behind the counter and really got nasty with her until the poor CM finally gave in and gave her the drinks she wanted but warned her that she needed to have her mugs with her next time. We then had to listen to this lady complain about how she should be able to just show her receipt and not have to bring her mugs with her the entire time the CM was getting her drinks.

This argument went on for about 10 minutes before the CM relented and gave her the drinks. Meanwhile, my DH and I with mugs in hand had to sit there and listen to her nasty tyrade before we could get our drinks. I would just like to say if you have a problem with the policy please don't take it out on the poor CM's behind the counter and hold up the whole line of people waiting. The CM's behind the counter are just trying to follow the rules and not get in trouble for breaking them. They don't make the rules they are just trying to enforce them.

Yes, that's it exactly. Seashore sweets told us we could use just our receipt. That makes it so much easier, especially since they don't use the mugs anyway. I was just hoping people would agree with me and call the management and have this policy changed to just showing your receipt. Belle Vue Lounge is the only that does not accept the receipt.

I agree you should not harass the CM. I would never do that. I'm sure the person who did this was, although out of line, just trying to do what the other shops had told her to do. The CM at the Belle Vue lounge can be a little hard to deal with in our experiences.

My husband had said when we were there that he wished it was just some type of card or something for refills there.

That would solve the issue of not everyone having the mugs being on the dinning plan. If just bought a beverage refill card then you could just carry that around, yes it would be one more card to carry but still much better then the mugs.

Wouldn't the simple solution to this problem is to have the Belle Vue Lounge add the refillable mug signs that we see inside the Boardwalk Bakery and Seashore Sweets that list the locations where we can get free refills? Like I said before that sign lists the Belle Vue Lounge as one of those locations where you show the mugs to get refills, so in my opinon that sounds like the best solution and would anyone agree?

The Belle Vue Lounge does provide refills. They just won't do it with your receipt, they need you to show the mug. The shops on the Boardwalk will accept your receipt, which is handy if you are coming back from Epcot and want to get a refill and not run to your room for the mug. I just wish the Belle Vue Lounge followed this practice.

Honestly I have not seen any Cast Members at the Boardwalk Bakery, Boardwalk Pizza Window and Seashore Sweets ask for the reciepts when guests showed their mugs to get refills. Plus that's not mentioned on the mug signs which list the price and locations you can get refills, so I have a hard time believing it.

I feel that I'm not getting my point across. The Boardwalk shops will give refills with receipt INSTEAD of the mug. That makes it easier than carrying a mug around all the time. We like to get coffee in the morning and take it to Epcot, then just throw the cup away. If we show receipt and don't have to have our mug there that saves time running back to the room to drop off mugs. Since the Boardwalk only gives cups and doesn't refill the mugs themselves I don't see why the Belle Vue Lounge can't accept the receipt as proof of the mug program.

jtink60,
I see the point you are making, however I don't think you are getting what I am saying. None of the mug signs at the Boardwalk say you can just show your reciept when getting refills, because you need to physically have the mugs to show the Cast Members when getting a refill in the paper cups. All they do is list the cost of the mug and the locations where you can get them.

Exactly, that's why I was hoping people would call Boardwalk management to ask to have this become normal practice. I did't come up with this idea, Seashore Sweets told us they accept the receipt in lieu of the mug. I just wish all of the refill centers did this. When I spoke to the asst. manager, she said if enough people call in, the practice could be changed. She agreed it would make things a lot easier to just carry your receipt with you instead of a mug.

I would rather take along the receipt instead of the mug. I have never tried it, but I will try it on the Boardwalk shops in January.
