Well, since the untimely demise of the DB, tonyswife's debate about which was better, Buffy or Angel, had now become defunct. So, in the spirit of the lighthearted debate, I pose a different question:

Buffy or Faith: who's the better slayer?

I love Buffy, really, I do. But I gotta say, Faith's my girl. There's just something about her. Plus, I think her downfalls usually come when she's trying to be "good". If she'd just stick to being the big bad, she'd get farther. Thoughts?

Loved the high school Buffy. Once season 4, Riley, Gay Willow, no Faith, the Initiative, etc. happened... meh. Season 5, 6 & 7 Buffy was so self-centered and sanctimonious, well... I could take her or leave her. (Not that I stopped watching)

Loved Faith. Loved her taking Xander's virginity and then throwing him out. Loved the episode when she came back and switched bodies with Buffy. Loved the end of Season 7 when she came back and the potentials liked her better. Loved Faith.

Faith has gotta have the edge. Buffy just had sooo many issues to deal with all the time. You always felt with Faith that she was far more likely to get on with the slaying and do less of the worrying.

Alan.

I think you nailed it with "self-centered and sanctimonious," Cyndiu. I can't tell you how many times, especially over the second half of the show, I was yelling at my TV. "It's not all about you! Get over yourself! Argh!" For me, the most egregious patch was when Buffy said "we're all tired of it" referencing Willow's sadness over Oz leaving in Season 4. Mind you, at that point, I think he'd been gone 2-3 episodes, and they'd had a true love fairytale adventure for at least a year. Buffy, on the other hand, got nothing but support from her friends for her ENDLESS, ABSURD pining over the one-nighter-gone-bad Parker. ***?

Faith, on the other hand? Rocks my world. :teeth:

Hey, don't go knocking my girl Buffy.

I've never been a Faith fan. Except for the body switching bit in Season 4 she was incredibly one dimensional. (Which I think is true of Eliza as an actress. Lovely gal, but lacks range.)

How about they way they all treated Buffy at the beginning of Season 3? Gee Buff I know you had to send the love of your life to hell but get over it. We want to feel better about ourselves.

I'll definitely give you that one - that episode STUNK in so many ways!!

But I think there was a lot of unease toward Angel as far as the scoobies were concerned anyway. I don't think many of them really liked him, or understood Buffy's feelings for him, especially after the whole Angelus thing. I mean, come on, he was killing and tormenting them...and they're supposed to just forgive and forget?

I mean, even my friends and family wanted me to hurry up and be over my ex-husband...and he never tortured any of my nearest and dearest.:p

Maleficent,

ITA. Personally, I never got the Angel thing. He should have been named Broody McBrooderson. I get the whole condemned to eternal torment thing, but really David Borneanaz never sold me on the undying love for Buffy deal.

I liked Oz. And, I liked evil Spike waayyy more.

evil Spike = yummy!:teeth: :hyper:

And I agree with you on Borneanaz...he was way too into himself to make me believe he was into Buffy. BUT...have to say I liked the second to last episode of season 7...when he shows up and watches her fight. THAT was funny...

Me too! "You are soo going to lose".
:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I love Buffy...and I bet you already know why..........:D

Not forgive and forget...just mind their own business. Buffy had to deal with the fact that she was unwittingly responsible for Angel turning into Angelus.

Gotta say, I like a girl who gets her kill on and then gets it on. Faith was so much fun to watch through all her stages of craziness. Buffy did get self absorbed for a while and that was obnoxious.

I thought I had posted to this thread earlier! I guess with all my connection proplems today, it didn't take!

Anyway, I think all the characters that went into make Buffy the success that it was were a benefit to the show. MY favorite though would have to be Anya. I'm not sure I spelled that right, and I don't feel like pulling out the DVD's to check! I don't understand why her and Xander couldn't have been married, and I am still upset that the writers chose to write her off as dead in the season finale!

I also got into Angle's show very much. It was different than Buffy, but it was every bit as good, but in a different way.

I think Anya was killed to bring her story full-circle. Her journey was actually a pretty powerful message if you think about it. A demoness who spent thousands of years wreaking vengeance on men dies protecting one.

I agree....I think maybe it is the actress but I'm not a big Faith fan. Seems to be playing the same part over and over...anyone see Tru Calling...I mean come on! Its just a nicer Faith. I liked the previous slayer that Drucilla killed...can't think of her name! I believe she was Jamaican! Buffy has had her moments...some that made be cringe but by far she was my favorite slayer.....

I have a new question for all of you....who is your favorite "souled" vampire? Spike or Angel?

That is a more difficult question for me to answer! Love Angel but he became more annoying. Spike seems more "real" (if that is possible!)
:p

yeah! Love Anya and Zander....I think Zander got the shaft if the last season. They shifted the comic release to Andrew...while funny in his own right...didn't seem far to Zander!

Kendra was the Season 2 Jamaican slayer, "activated" when Buffy died in Prophecy Girl. :)

Spike! I think he was soo much sexier than Angel. Maybe it was the hair?? :cool2:

Ever time I think the phrase "Buffy the Vampire Slayer", I hear it in Kendra's voice..."Buffy the Vahm-pahr Slay-eh". I can't help it.
:p

Oh, and as far as sexy souled vampires? Spike, hands down...but I think I liked him more WITHOUT his soul.
