We are finally getting close to becoming members. My DH I think is sold on BLT so we will see what new incentives come out over the next few months. We just couldn't get it together before yesterday!

A few Questions about BLT...

Will BLT have a food court in the new Tower or will we have to walk the "walk" to get to some type of food court? I am talking like filling up a mug or getting a cup of coffee. DO you think they will have a refill station at the pool like at Saratoga?

Will BLT have their own Check In in the building? I am not a big fan of the Contemp. lobby and check in. I am not quite as sold on BLT as I love the Beach Club but I do like the idea of staying at one of the monorail Resorts.

Can you walk to MK from this new building? I have never walked (or stayed) at the Contemp so I don't have a good judgement of how far a walk in time it is to the park.

Does anyone know what they will do with the old Garden rooms at the Contp? Are those supposed to be refurbished or torn down?

Will the One Bedrooms at the BLT sleep 5 and have an extra bath like at AKV?

Do you think it is necessary for us to go to Disney and see the models before purchasing. I have seen the building but not the models and I am wondering if this would encourage or discourage me. Did that happen to any of you new BLT owners?

Thanks for any help and advice. I know I have been on these boards forever and have coveted the DVC purchase. We would be owners by now if I hadn't hated the dark decor of AKV. The resort will be beautiful but I cant do DARK!!!

You will probably see me have another post on Beach Club!

BLT guests should be able to follow the existing walking path to the MK. A BLT owner will better be able to answer the food service question. I know I saw a post some time ago about a permit being issued for some sort food service. Maybe just counter service?

I agree, the dark decor of the AKV units isn't to my personal taste, but I'd still like to stay there in a Savannah view unit sometime.

The BLT building replaced the North Garden View wing, the building was torn down. The South Garden Wing was refurbished a short time ago (maybe a year or so.)

From photos I've seen of the BLT models, they are quite colorful, sort of "Disney Jetson-ish." I like the decor. The studios, though, seem pretty cramped, even compared to other newer DVC resorts. The one bedroom units will have the sleeper chair, in addition to the sleeper sofa, and 2 bathrooms.

We just got our paper work for 300 points at the BLT. To answer your questions:
I understand there will be no food court at the BLT.
I understand we're going to check in at the Comtemporary.
Don't know what they're going to do with the Garden rooms
You can walk - in fact years ago (before kids) we stayed at the Contemporary and the walk was easy (now that we have 4 it might be a bit harder). If I remember it was a 10-15 minute walk.

The 1 BR sleeps 5.

The decor is not like of AKV. We saw the demo rooms and though I thought the AKV was "cool looking" it was dark- the BLT rooms are much lighter - more of a silver/white base not a brown/orange base. We weren't sure which to buy but first BLT is on the monorail and I have 4 kids 7 and under and 2nd the room decor just "wowed me". I really liked it.

If you need a reference I'd be happy to give one and our guide (Ryan) was great.

Wish you well and if you decide to move forward ... "Welcome home"

Yes the one bedrooms sleep five and there is an extra bath.

Here's my experience. I was not at all interested in BLT. Thought the contempary was not my style at all, blah, blah, blah. Well on our Dec trip to SSR we walked through the BLT models and LOVED them. I was so surprised at just how much I loved them. A week later we bought 160 pts on our cruise!!! So in my opinion seeing the models in person would only encorage you to buy!!!!

!

Good Luck!!!!!

We just bought at BLT, and I agree with the previous post that seeing the rooms in person definitely changed my mind about it. Seeing the pictures on-line, the room style did not appeal to me at all, but when we took the tour, I absolutely fell in love with them! AKV is beautiful, too, and admittedly more my style, but there was just something about the BLT rooms...the really cute Mickey artwork didn't hurt!

Oh, and unlike what one of the early posts said, I do believe that DVC owners will check in at the BLT building, not have to check in at the main Contemporary lobby.

Definitely walking distance to MK; but unfortunately no dedicated food court -- have to walk over to the Contemporary.

Welcome home!

Thank you Piglet75!! Thats what I was hoping to hear about Check In. I don't suppost food court would be too bad, but it is an awful large building not to be able to get a drink somewhere! Thanks for your opinions, I will forgive the fact that you are a Steelers Fan!!:lmao:

Go Ravens!!!:goodvibes

I just bought 30 pt.s 3 days ago.....yet have not been able to see the model at SSR. When we visit WDW in June, will I still be able to request the DVC Van pick us up to take the tour of BLT?:confused3

There will be the Bay Cove Pool Bar at BLT.

Even though there is no dedicated food court at BLT, a) the new QS at the Contemporary is excellent -- really impressive, in fact, and b) getting there from BLT seems like it's not going to be all that far -- certainly closer than getting to Mara, for example.

:thumbsup2 We love the flatbread pizza they serve!

putting up that bridge was not cheap - very expensive.

so would say we check in and qs (cs) plus shops will be at CR.

the lobby will be used by DVC to help sell the place - until it is sold out - then hoping they put in a front desk - but did not over at VWL and it really needs it own check in area.

bcv got it own for a while - but again it was cancelled.

so despite being in your own building - you do have the bridge (no going outside unless you want too) to get the shops, restuarants and front desk easily.

well not so much the front desk - it on the 1st floor not the 4th floor - where the bridge is coming in - this CR 4th floor, think it on the 5th floor of our BLT.

this was the North wing building before it was torn down.

for the rehab at CR Diseny started with the South wing building -so it was done before they started on BLT. Don't know if they will tear it down put up another tower or not. Think it depends upon how much DVC members love or hate BLT. BLT is like CR in ways, you either love it or hate it.

really think DVC will have a refill for drinks at the pool. they have license to sell food there too.

then 1-bedroom in both AKV and BLT can sleep 5 - sleeper chair in the livingroom with the queen bed. It also has 2 bathrooms - so no more sharing that master....:cheer2:

another DISer posted this helpful map:

I haven't read all of the responses, but I'm sure everyone has given you the detailed answers. I surprisingly liked the AKL rooms much more than I thought i would:) Not dark feeling at all. WE bought BLT> For us, seeing the rooms, instead of pictures....sold us!
