I have rented points several times now through 2 agents and 1 owner (being our own Aussie ColinA).
In my experience, the concept to remember is that you can't always get what you want.
Brokers are just mediators between the owner and the renter - but if they can't find an owner from the resort you want, then you are not getting the room.
David's I suspect is the largest so he gets the most traffic and you are more likely to get your desired booking, but he charges the highest rate.
Smaller brokers charge less but there is more risk that you won't get what you want.
The brokers will say "yep - i can get you the room" and take your deposit - but then the waiting game begins. Twice I have had a broker NOT get the room.
Once the broker also gave me a convoluted reason for why, and on doing a bit of research later I discovered he was talking through his hat.
My other rookie hint is that they cannot combine points from multiple owners so it is WAY easier to go for smaller bookings than wait for someone with 400 points for a 2 bedroom villa to turn up - rare to happen.
I suppose you need patience, fortitude and Plan B
Despite all this work and organising, I now have 4 Boardwalk View studios booked for my group!! YEE HAA!

Big thanks to ColinA - we somehow magically lined up our dates - and he has helped me out!
